Fish signed with the Warriors to grow as a individual player and get a starting job, before GP was traded away he would play behind him if he would sign with LA. But now he is a bench player for Golden State aswell and he is losing so the Lakers might be a better option for him.

Lakers (10-7) looking for back to back wins as they host the Cavaliers (7-8)
LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings on their homecourt on Wednesday, and are looking to get their 6th straight win at their homecourt.

The Cleveland Cavaliers who have a 7-8 record, have lost their last game against the Detroit Pistons by 5 points on Saturday, are looking to get back at the .500 mark with a 8-8 record.

Both teams will meet for the first time this season, as the Lakers won the season series last season with a 2-0 record. Kobe Bryant injured his shoulder the first time they met last season, and only played 10 minutes during that game. Tonight might be the first time to see 2 former High School superstars Kobe Bryant and LeBron James go at eachother troughout the entire game.

Lakers (11-7) to host Chicago Bulls (8-11)
LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles have won their last 2 games, one against Sacramento on the road and the other one against the Cleveland Cavaliers at home by as many as 19 points. Can they make it to 3 in a row? is the big question as they host the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

The Chicago Bulls who have a 8-11 record started the season very good as they won 4 out out of their first 5 games. But have been struggling lately as they sufferd a 3 game losing streak during the last week of November, the team lost games against the Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics and the NBA Champions Detroit Pistons. The Bulls recently lost a game against the Nets after coming off a win against the Milwaukee Bucks during a 110-86 blowout in favour of Chicago.

The Lakers are looking to get their first three game winning streak of the season, as they reached a 2 game winning streak 5 times already this season but never seemed to win the third straight one. The Bulls have lost starting center Eddy Curry due a injury as he hyper-extended his knee agains the New Jersey Nets the other day. The Bulls have lost 6 out of their last 7 games against the Lakers in Los Angeles, as they are looking to end that streak.

LA Lakers 112, Chicago 68
Lakers beat Bulls badly

LOS ANGELES, Tue. 7 Dec (Ticker) -- The Chicago Bulls seemed to miss Eddy Curry more then ever.

The Bulls starting center and franchise player hyper extended his knee and was forced to miss the game, as the Lakers beat the Bulls by a season high 44 points. The Lakers kept the Bulls under 20 points every single quarter, as they forced Chicago to only score 68 points compared tto the Lakers 112 points. The lack of the Bulls bigmen caused alot of problems in the boards as they got out-rebounded by 41 to 28 boards.

The 3 former Miami Heat players that the Lakers got this offseason combined for 52 points as Odom scored 26 and Caron Butler added 22 as the threesome also combined for 21 boards. Grant grabbed 8 of those in just 12 minutes of playing time. Kobe Bryant had a off-night as he shot 6 from 19, but it didnt bother the Lakers as Bryant got help from mainly Butler and Odom.

The Lakers started the game in a exciting way as Kirk Hinrich controled the tip, but forced a bad pass within 8 seconds as Caron Butler went coast to coast for a slam-dunk, which showed good things to come in this game. Lamar Odom who has been playing very well lately scored the Lakers first 4 points of the night and he finished with a teamhigh 26 with a 12 from 17 shooting performance and 11 boards. Most of his points came off Chucky Atkins and Kobe Bryants kickout passes as both players combined for 14 assists as Atkins led the game with 8.

The Bulls were really stuggling to find their shots as they seemed lost on both the offensive and defensive end. Rookie of the Month Ben Gordon scored a teamhigh 23 points as he and Antonio Davis were the only Bulls players to score in double figures. Bulls leading scorer and assistman Kirk Hinrich had a off night as he only scored 7 points and got 2 assists while avaraging 21.9 and 7.4 per game.

The Lakers held the Bulls down to 34 points in the first half, as they forced them to only shoot .355% troughout the game as the Lakers got their 7th win out of their last 8 games at the Staples center against the Bulls. The Lakers got their first 3 game winningstreak of the season, as the face the Minnesota Timberwolves tommorow, one of the best teams in the NBA.

Lakers (12-7) looking for 4th straight win as they face Minnesota (12-6)
MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- After beating the Chicago Bulls by a season high 44 points, the Lakers got their third straight win of the season and are looking for number 4. As they face the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves had their 2 game winning streak snapped by the Indiana Pacers on Monday as the Pacers walked away with a 101-88 victory over Minnesota. The Timberwolves were on a 2 game winningstreak before they faced the Pacers as they won games against Houston and Utah.

The Lakers won their last away game against Sacramento by 7 points with a 110-103 score, but still have a losing record during roadtrips as they won just 4 out of 6 games on the road. While Minnesota has a 5-4 record for games on their homecourt.

The last times both teams faced eachtother was during the 2003 Western Conference Finals, as the Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in the series with a 4-2 record and were headed to the NBA Finals. Kevin Garnett won the 2003/2004 MVP award as he lead his Timberwolves to a West best and second best in the league record of 58 wins and 24 losses while avaraging 24.2 ppg, 13.90 rpg and 5.0 asp.

LA Lakers 100, Chicago 95
Lakers win fourth straight

MINNEAPOLIS, Wed. 8 Dec (Ticker) -- The Lakers had a hard time trying to stop the red-hot Latrell Sprewell. But the Timberwolves had the same problem with Lamar Odom.

As Lamar Odom led the Lakers to a 100-95 victory to get their 4th straight win of the season. The Lakers beat the Kings, Cavaliers and Bulls before going to Minneapolis. Odom scored 30 points on a impressive 13-16 shooting night including making all 4 of his three-point attempts. Guards Kobe Bryant and Chucky Atkins combined for 11 assists as most of those came from open shots by Lamar Odom.

"Thats what its all about in this team. creating for others" Odom said. "If it wasnt for those guys who did a hell of a job drawing the defender away from me, I wouldnt have a good night like this".

"He has definetly been playing to hiss full potential troughout the season and last year in Miami" Garnett said about Lamar Odom. "If he keeps it up like this he might be a All-Star caliber player if he isnt already".

Although the Lakers walked away with a win, they still had a very hard time stopping Timberwolves swingman Latrell Sprewell. Sprewell scored 18 of his teamhigh 29 points in the first quarter and just missed 2 shots during that perion, he finished the game with a very good 12-18 shooting performance and 2-4 from behind the three-point line. The Lakers did anything they could to try to slowdown Sprewell, including dropping double teams and putting the 6-9 Lamar Odom on him, but it didnt seem to work.

"I was all over him along with other players, but he just kept hitting them" Caron Butler said. "Sometimes players get hot from the field, and once they are hot, its hard to put a end to it".

2003/2004 NBA MVP Kevin Garnett had a hard time connecting on his shots in the first half, as he only scored 6 points on a 3-8 shooting performance. But he picked it up in the more important second half as he finished the game with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Garnett scored 6 points during a Timberwolves 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter giving the Timberwolves a 1 point lead, but the Lakers were able to answer just in time with a Lamar Odom three-pointer, which eventually might have been the key for the win.

The Lakers defeated the Timberwolves for the second straight time, as they beat them during game 6 of the Western Conference Finals during the 2003/2004 season. Minnesota lost its second straight game while the Lakers have won their fourth straight game as they face the Golden State Warriors on Friday at the Staples Center.

Lakers (13-7) looking for 5th straight win as they host Golden state (6-14)
LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Lakers have won their fourth straight game in a row, and are having the biggest winning streak in the Western Conference at the moment while being tied with Philadelphia and Boston who also have a 4 game winning streak behind the Miami Heat who have won 10 games in a row.

After beating the Minnesota Timberwolves who made the Western Conference Finals during the 2004 playoffs with a 100-95 score, the Lakers are looking to get their 5th straight win as they face the Golden State Warriors who have been struggling as they lost 4 games in a row before beating the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

The Lakers have a 18-2 record against the Golden State Warriors at home in the past 10 years as they are trying to add 1 more to the total of 18. Derek Fisher who played for the Lakers from 1996 to 2004 will meet his former team for the first time this season. Fisher signed with the Golden State Warriors this off-season. Fishers shot with 0.4 seconds left in game 5 against San Antonio in the Western Conference Semi-Finals helped the Lakers to beat the Spurs in the series. Fisher won 3 championships in Los Angeles and make 4 trips to the NBA Finals.

LA Lakers 107, Golden State 86
Five is not enough

LOS ANGELES, Fri. 10 Dec (Ticker) -- The Lakers won 4 straight games in a row against Sacramento, Cleveland, Chicago and Minnesota.

Tonight the Lakers turned that "4" to a 5 as they beat the struggling Golden State Warriors with a convincing 107-86 score. Lamar Odom was once again the topscorer for the Los Angeles Lakers team as he scored 25 points under a 10-19 shooting night.

"I just do what Coach Tomnjanovich asks me to do." Odom said. "Just get yourself in position on the weakside so that Kobe and others can find me and make the open shots. They have been falling lately and hopefully I can keep it up like this".

Bryant started the game scoring 9 points in the opening quarter, but didnt have a great game shooting the ball as he made just 8 of his 19 attempts and scoring a total of 18 points. The last few games his assist numbers have been going up as he collected 8 of those. Atkins lead the game in assists with 9.

[i]"Its easy with guys like Lamar, Chucky, Devean. Basicly every shooter on the team" Bryant said. "I know I will always draw the main defensive attention for our opponents, but if my teammates keep hitting shots like this, it takes away alot of presure".

The red-hot Lakers were to much for the Golden State Warriors troughout the game, as the Lakers outscored Golden State in all four quarters of the game. Back to back 2002 and 2003 NBA Slam Dunk Champion Jason Richardson showed off that he can do more then just dunk the ball, as he scored a team high 27 points while shooting .500% from the field. Dale Davis caused some troubles for the Lakers early on as he made 2 straight dunks to open te game. Davis finished with 20 points and became the games leading rebounder as he grabbed 13 points. Lamar Odom was the runner up as he collected 11.

The Lakers have a 19-2 record against the Golden State Warriors in the last 10 years in Los Angeles with this win. The Lakers and the Celtics both have the biggest winning streak in the NBA with 5 games, as Miami lost a game against New Jersey as they ended with a 10 game winning streak.

LA Lakers 112, LA Clippers 105
Lakers remain their winning streak

LOS ANGELES, Mon. 13 Dec (Ticker) -- Even hurt, Kobe Bryant is still a hand-full for his defenders.

As Lakers star Kobe Bryant scored 20 points and dished out a season high 13 assists in the Lakers 112-105 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Bryant injured his thumb on a play when he went up for a dunk attempt over Clippers guard Corey Maggette during the second quarter, but came hard on the floor and re-injured his thumb. Bryant injured his thumb earlier during the second game of the season, ironicly also against the CLippers in their purple away uniforms. X-rays proved that Bryant this time broke a bone and is questionable for the next game against the Dallas Mavericks. Bryant however returned to the game midway the third quarter to finish the game.

"It hurt, but I was able to play with it" Bryant said after the game. "I hope I dont have to miss any games because of it, hopefully I can just play trough it like I did the last time"

Although Bryant was the leading scorer with 9 points before leaving the game, Lamar Odom and Chucky Atkins took over the scoring job as they both combined for 52 points, 31 for Odom and a season high 21 for CHucky Atkins who made 5 three-point shots. Odom also finished the game with a season high 15 rebounds which 9 of them came from offensive boards against his former Clippers team.

"You have to step up if your main scoring guy is out" Chucky Atkins said. "I think I did a good job hitting those open shots down the stretch when my team needed them"

The Clipper were leading troughout the game, at one point by as much as 15 points in the third quarter. But the Lakers scored 38 points in the final quarter to the CLippers 26 which would eventually give them the win. Odom scored 15 points in the fourth while Chucky Atkins made back to back three-pointers, one for the tie and one for the 3 point lead.

"Right now our main goal is to remain the lead, we have a tough game coming up against Dallas so hopefully we can keep it up like this and hope Kobe will be alright" Odom said.

The Lakers won their sixt straight game and are looking for number 7 as they face the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

Here we go again!

...from the annals of the 2005 Birdie Project: (info)
K0be4mvp's Lakers 2004-05 quarter-season Birdie Breakdown:

Image

As the newest cog of the Lakers one-two fighting machine, Lamar Odom
edged his buddy Bryant for team MVP honors with a weighted Birdie score
of 22.46- and his 'reversible' Live Card is...enabled.

And the biggest announcement of them all:
This Dynasty is currently ranked #1 on the 2005 Birdie Board!
(And even more so, NO PENALTIES for overinflated stats! Good Job!)

For the complete 'Birdie Breakdown' AND to see Odom's ' reversible' Live Card click here.

K0be4mvp: Thanks again for sending me those stats out of the blue! Also, I put up a temporary Action Shot for Odom, so please send me a screenshot of your choice of Lamar so I can customize the card for you. Looking forward to your midseason stats!

I myself find the Lamar Odom picture good enough for the Live card so I have no problems to leave it like that.

Once again thanks

Honorglow, why do you have Odom as #9?

Great game by the Lakers supporting cast, taking over for KB8.

Tell us how Kobe's finger is.
