THE FACTS: Early on Rajon Rondo lead his team on offense with 6 assists in hte 1Q, but had to sit half way through the 1Q with foul trouble. The Celtic offense struggled immediately but their defense was still strong. For the Thunder, Kevin Durant was the only one making most of his shots, no matter how hard the defense. A late quarter surge of scoring by Durant closed out the 11 point lead the Celtics had. In the 2Q it became all Thunder as they took the lead for the first time with a massive 11-3 run lead by Durant and Westbrook. Westbrook's penetration forced the Celtics into the penalty early. Rajon Rondo would return and be an instant impact with an assist, a steal, a layup, and another assist before the Thunder offense could do anything. But with Kevin Garnett struggling, Rondo's passes did not matter much. Rondo would eventually start to penetrate and go to the line, but the Celtics continued to struggle from the line. In the second half, Ray Allen who was struggling all of a sudden caught fire and lead the Celtics back from a 12 point deficit to tie the game. Russell Westbrook stepped up and matched every shot the Celtics were making until the final seconds when Celtic rookie Avery Bradley made a jump shot to take the lead for the first time in the 2nd half. At the start of the 4Q the Celtics were still in control, but only slightly. some silly fouls by Jeff Green allowed the Thunder to stay close. Eventually, down by only 3, James Harden would drive to the lane, get contact from Kevin Garnett, score the circus shot and the and-one free throw to tie the game half way through the 4Q.
The game is now tied and there is less than 2 minutes remaining. The Thunder have the momentum, but the Celtics are still a veteran team ready to make the right plays. The final moments of the game were...![]()
GOOD MOVE: Early in the 2Q Kevin Durant blew by Paul Pierce and had a posterizing dunk on Shaq
GOOD MOVE: Vintage Shaq, a put-back slam dunk off a missed Garnett shot
BAD MOVE: Down in the 4Q, the Thunder's Cole Aldrich grabbed a rebound and threw it full court to Nate Robinson who leaked out, the ball went straight out of bounds
Injuries: Nazr Mohammed was called for a blocking foul when he collided with Rajon Rondo and ended up getting injured with a sprained wrist, after treatment from the medical staff he was able to return later in the gamePressbook

THE LAST 2 MINUTES...
With the game tied, the Celtics struggled to make their shots and this would be followed up with 5 quick point by Durant. But then a 9-0 lead by Rondo to retake the lead before Durant would hit another clutch jumper to cut the lead. Another shot by Kevin Garnett would push it back to 4, but James Harden hit a 3 pointer to get within 1. Paul Pierce's jump shot was blocked giving the chance for the Thunder to take the lead with less that 2 minutes left. But Kevin Durant was double teamed and tried to get the ball to the open man but had his pass picked off, which lead to a break away slam dunk by Rajon Rondo. Timeout Thunder. With less than a minute remaining Kevin Durant misses a 3 pointer and Ray Allen goes the other way, gets fouled and makes his free throws....
The Celtics looked like they were in complete control, especially after a 3 pointer by Ray Allen and with the time running out the Thunder's chances looked very dim. Kevin Durant would not give up and continued to score, but there was just not enough time. The Thunder fouled Rajon Rondo in hopes he would miss his free throws, but he made them both and the game was virtually over. Another made shot by Kevin Durant simply led to the Celtics in bounding the ball and letting time expire as they would once again be the NBA Champions!Final Score:
