Image Ice cooled down the Sixers

The first game of the new season was played the 3rd of November. The starting lineup was:

C: Mark Blount
PF: Raef LaFrentz
SF: Tony Allen
SG: Paul Pierce
PG: Gary Payton
-
SUB: Ricky Davis
SUB: Jiri Welsch
SUB: Delonte West
SUB: Markus Banks
SUB: Walter McCarthy
SUB: Tom Gugliotta
SUB: Kendrick Perkins

The 2 first quarter was total dominance by the Celtics, but unfortually rookie Tony Allen got injured after playing two minutes of the first quarter. Gary Payton and Paul Pierce had a perfect 1st. half, Payton made 9 assists and Pierce scored 3 out of 4 3-pointers and made 19 points.

After the break Allen Iverson and Kyle Korver started to hit everything, and the Sixers won the 3rd quarter 18-10. Korver was glowing and made a career high record scoring 29 points in the game.

In the fourth quarter coach Doc Rivers sent Walter "Ice" McCarthy in to replace Raef LaFrentz, and that was a good choice. In 1 quarter McCarthy scored 14 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, blocked 2 shots and made 2 assists.

The Celtics all-star Paul Pierce secured the victory 6 seconds before the buzzer with a mid-range shot - Celtics won 83 to 81

Image Ice got cold - Payton's hot streak continues

2 days ago Walther "Ice" McCarthy had a spectacular 4th quarter so coach Doc Rivers decided to let him start vs. the Pacers - The lineup was:

C: Mark Blount [10pts - 7rb]
PF: Walter McCarthy [6pts - 5rb]
SF: Ricky Davis [2pts - 3as - 3rb]
SG: Paul Pierce [32pts - 4as - 5rb]
PG: Gary Payton [20pts - 6as]

SUB: Jiri Welsch [6pts - 1as]
SUB: Tony Allen [DNP]
SUB: Marcus Banks [3as]
SUB: Delonte West [4as]
SUB: Raef LaFrentz [2rb - 4blocks]
SUB: Tom Gugliotta [2rb]
SUB: Kendrick Perkins [DNP]

The 1st half wasnt what the fans had been expecting. Walter McCarthy started with a 1-5 at the 3 point range, and got substituted for the effective rebounder Raef LaFrentz. Pierce was average and made 15 points, 1 assist and 3 rebounds. Gary Payton played the entire 1st half and scored 13 points and 4 assists. He stole the ball 6 times, a good defensive effort.

The second half was better played, but Jermain O'Neal was still freezing McCarthy & LaFrentz out at the offensive end. Pierce ended the game scoring 32 points, 3 more than last game.

The final result was 76-80, and Jermaine O'Neal became Man of the Match with 10 points and 18 rebounds.

Image Rookie Delonte West ate The Big Apple

The 24th overall roundpick this year Delonte West, showed his skills tonight. The lineup was

C: Mark Blount [8pts - 6rb - 3bl]
PF: Walter McCarthy [11pts - 5 reb]
SF: Ricky Davis [13pts - 7rb - 4as]
SG: Paul Pierce [17pts - 3rb - 2as]
PG: Gary Payton [13pts - 5as - 8stl]

SUB: Jiri Welsch [3pts - 2rb - 2stl]
SUB: Markus Banks [DNP]
SUB: Raeff LaFrentz [4pts - 6rb]
SUB: Tony Allen [1as - 1stl]
SUB: Delonte West [14pts - 4as - 2rb]
SUB: Tom Gugliotta [4pts - 4rb]
SUB: Kendrick Perkins [DNP]

Even though the forwards had a very bad game yesterday, coach Doc Rivers decided that they both should start agaisnt the Knicks. Ricky Davis played a good 1st half scoring 10 points and setting up 2 great alley-oops with Paul Pierce. PF Walter McCarthy had to share his time with Raef LaFrentz & Tom "Googs" Gugliotta, but he still maintained the hot-hand and scored 5 out of 7.

Swingman Paul Pierce didnt had a good night, only scoring 17 points - this season worst match. Gary Payton was still amazing and made 6 assists and 13 points. In the middle of the 3rd quarter rookie pointguard Delonte West came in, and showed his potential. His shot percentage was 100% (7/7) and he made 4 assists.

Image Weekly Report

This week was the first of this season, and has been a good and surprinsingly one. The first match vs. the 76'ers was very well played and fast, while the match against Pacers was dissapoiting. The last match against the Knicks was the best of the week - No doubt about that.

The two suprises of this week has been Delonte West & Walter "Ice" McCarthy.

West has been showing his assist abillity and is his average is 4 assists pr. game - quite good for the 3rd. choice on the PG. We've all known that Ice is a good shooter and is a okay rebounder, but in the 2 of 3 matches this week, he has been very energetic and entertaining

Delonte west has been playing very good, and his grade of the week is "A". McCarthy has also been good, but his play against the Pacers was ver dissapoiting, so he gets a "B+"

Paul Pierce and Gary Payton has also had a good week. Pierce is #10 in PPG and Gary Payton is the leader in steals..

Image Wild Wild West!

Tonight the Celtics showed what they can, and beat the Blazers with 81-57. The PG's Delonte West & Gary Payton contuinued glowing!

C: Mark Blount [4pts - 6rb - 1bl]
PF: Walter McCarthy [14pts - 8reb - 5bl]
SF: Ricky Davis [11pts - 7rb - 4as]
SG: Paul Pierce [16pts - 3rb - 1as - 4stl]
PG: Gary Payton [16pts - 5as - 7stl]

SUB: Jiri Welsch [2pts - 4stl - 1as]
SUB: Markus Banks [DNP]
SUB: Raeff LaFrentz [7pts - 8rb - 4bl]
SUB: Tony Allen [2 pts - 1as - 2rbl]
SUB: Delonte West [9pts - 7as - 1rb]
SUB: Tom Gugliotta [0pts - 1rb]
SUB: Kendrick Perkins [2pts - 3rb]

The Blazers started the first quarter with a commanding lead, and it ended 18-8. Damon "Mighty Mouse" Stoudamire scored 21 points in the first quarter - But then the Celtics defense began working! Raef LaFrentz and Walter McCarthy grabbed each 8 rebounds and blocked 4 and 5 shots. Very good effort by the men under the basket.

Ricky Davis started the game with a show alley-oop from a pass by Delonte West - The dunk was later awarded as Dunk of the Night.

Delonte West and his "teacher" Gary Payton has been shining the last 2 games, and is sharing the time on the court. Gary "The Glove" Payton is currently making 6,7 steals, and is ranked nr. 1 in the league. Delonte West is currently making 4,667 assists and 11 points per game.

Paul Pierce was dissapointing again, and made 16 points (8 each half). Gugliotta, Blount and Tony Allen made also some good plays

The reverse alley-oop dunk of Ricky Davis (pass from Delonte West) won the "Dunk of the Night " award!

Image Amazing Celtics!

The Boston Celtics is now on a 4-1 run! The Celtics defense was bad, but the offensive play continued to glow - 80-61.

C: Raef LaFrentz [4pts - 2rb - 1bl]
PF: Walter McCarthy [17pts - 8reb - 2bl]
SF: Ricky Davis [11pts - 4rb - 3as]
SG: Paul Pierce [20pts - 6rb - 7as - 4stl]
PG: Gary Payton [4pts - 5as - 7stl]

SUB: Jiri Welsch [2rb - 1stl - 1as]
SUB: Markus Banks [2pts - 3stl - 1as]
SUB: Mark Blount [10pts - 8rb]
SUB: Tony Allen [DNP]
SUB: Delonte West [8pts - 4as - 1rb - 3stl]
SUB: Tom Gugliotta [4pts - 4rb]
SUB: Kendrick Perkins [DNP]

The pointguards didnt really glow offensively today, but Markus Banks, Gary Payton and Delonte West were all playing a good defensive match. The 2 very quick stealers Banks and Payton had 7 and 3 steals - Delonte stole the ball 3 times too.

Paul Pierce played a well allround game with 20 pts - the best since the Indiana game. Tricky-Ricky did also had a good game, now without his famous fro :D

The bigmen did also had a great game, especially Mark Blount & Walter McCharty were spectacular in the offensive play.

Image Image Image
"We cant be beaten now - The team morale is higher than ever" said PG Delonte West after the Bobcats game.

** Changed picture size and havent sharpened the pictures - is this way better? **

Image Weekly Report

A week with a 2-0 run, and two amazing games. The first match against The Blazers was surprisingly easy. The only well playing Trail Blazer was Damon Stoudamire with 28 points and 4 assists.

Gary Payton and Delonte West has again been very strong at the PG, while Marcus Banks is a bit cold. West is currently making 5,3 APG and 10,667 PPG - Payton 5,6 APG and 13PPG.

Paul Pierce isnt quite warm yet, but the last game he was heating up, with a great allround effort.

Unfortually Paul Pierce is only hitting 22,0, so he's not at the top20 anymore. Mark Blount is ranked #1 in Blocks pr. Game currently blocking 4,44 shots pr. game. Gary Payton is still #1 in Stealing - 7,0 steals pr game.

Ricky Davis won this weeks South West Airlines High Flyer of the Week, and dunk of the week with a spectacular alley-oop.

Image Celtics Stunned

The game in Washington was against a better and more calm team. Larry Hughes, Antawn Jamison & Gilbert Arenas did all shine, especially Jamison who grabbed 19 rebounds and made 21 points - The without doubt best of the knight - 82-67

C: Raef LaFrentz [6pts - 6rb - 2bl]
PF: Walter McCarthy [13pts - 5reb]
SF: Ricky Davis [10pts - 3rb - 6as]
SG: Paul Pierce [15pts - 5rb - 3asl]
PG: Delonte West [14pts - 7as]

SUB: Jiri Welsch
SUB: Markus Banks
SUB: Mark Blount
SUB: Tony Allen
SUB: Gary Payton
SUB: Tom Gugliotta
SUB: Kendrick Perkins

** Couldnt open the box scores cause i forgot do to this after the game - Thats why the subs doesnt got stats **

Due to Antawn Jamison's super game, the bigmen didnt really played a good game. Larry Hughes & Gilbert Arenas did both get injured, but luckly none of the injuries were serious. Hughes made 16 points and grabbet 5 rebounds, and Gilbert Arenas scored his season high with 35 points.

Delonte West scored 14 points and made 7 assists, even though the rest of the team played very bad. Paul Pierce was very disappointing, only scoring 15 points, and was quite anonymous.

Image Weekly Report

This week has been the worst of the 3 played. First a blowout in MCI Center, and then a total 3rd quarter collapse against a Spurs team without Tim Duncan in 3 quarters. He maybe won 2 MVP's, but he wasnt the one who made the baskets or took the rebounds. Bruce Bowen grabbed 10 rebounds and made 19 points, while Manu Ginobili scored 28 points.

Coach Doc Rivers told NBAtv after the Charlotte game that this was going "The week of Defence". And i was. The rebounding became better, but Gary Payton was ice cold in both matches. So the stealers wasnt that good as the last two weeks.

The rookies Tony Allen and Delonte West is both doing good, especially West who has a week average of 13,5PPG and 7,5APG.

The superstar Paul Pierce is still pretty cold, but after the Spurs match he seemed very dissapointed over the past weeks: "My stats isnt the best, and my shooting percentage is terrible - I haven't played well the last weeks. Thanks to Gary and the others, we have been winning 4 games - But when i fail like his, we cant win the big matches".

Delonte West diserves a "+A" for his past week. Walter McCarthy has also been good with a average of 15,5 PPG, he diserves a B+.
