Knicks fantasy franchise

Postby JohnnyKnoxville on Mon Nov 24, 2003 5:15 am

Okay, I just wanted to use the Knicks, but decided on doing a fantasy franchise... hit randomize three times and ended up drafting 8th or 9th.

Lineup after draft:
C- LaFrentz
PF - Duncan (my first pick)
SF - Quentin Richardson
SG - Rip Hamilton
PG - LeBron James (didn't want him, but then picked him afterall..)
==========
C - Haywood
PF - Macej Lampe
SF - Radmanovic
SG - Fred Hoiberg
PG - Dwayne Wade
SG - Mikael Pietrus
SF - Jared Jeffries
PF - Curtis Borchardt

Pietrus was a FA signee.

After playing both All-Star and Superstar I decided to remain on All-Star but make the sliders rather hard so the games are challenging.... and now I stand at 10-6 (28 game season, 10 minute quarters).
Rip was my leading scorer most of the season, but Duncan has really stepped it up lately, and now he is averaging nearly 20, with Rip at 17 per game. Dwayne Wade had 10 and 3 off the bench, and as the offence runs much better with him than with LeBron, I decided to trade LeBron today (I bet I am the only one to ever do that in Live 04 so far  ); here's the trade:
LeBron James (69) + Q. Richardson (63) for
Peja Stojakovic (72) + Darrell Armstrong (63)

I'm now starting Wade (60 overall) at PG, with Armstrong coming off the bench. Stojakovic is a great addition as he is an awesome shooter to complement the slashing Hamilton (whose 3-point-shot is not so good). I really like Q, he even lead the team in scoring after the first four games, but he has fallen off lately, so he had to go to make the deal work.

Well, I might post some game recaps in the future, but so far I just wanted to share some thoughts :)

Well, three games after the trade, it looks good for the Knicks. Although we lost the first game, the second ironically was against the Rockets with LeBron and Q-Rich, but we cruised to victory and won by 15. Wade matched LeBron's performance despite being in foul trouble throughout the game (a little too much help defence with him), and Peja was solid, but unspectacular.

He would show us why he is a star today though, as he single-handedly crushed the VC-lead Mavericks. In the end he had 59 (fiftynine) points on over 50% shooting, including 8/16 treys, and thoroughly outplayed Air Texas (TAFKAAC - the artist formerly known as Air Canada  ). Wade and Duncan with double-doubles completed the good showing, but the Mavs probably should have stopped playing zone D after Peja burned them for 18 points in the opening quarter alone.

The final score was 109-94 for my Knicks, and I might need to slow it down a bit in the next games, I had too many shot attempts today...
