Anthony Priamos - A Coaching Prodigy? - Tulsa 66ers (4-0)

So, my name is Anthony Priamos, I'm a 26 year old coming out of Miami, Florida. Growing up, I was never a great basketball player, I could play, but I was never amazing. On my high school basketball team, I was probably the 12th or 13th man and I played around a minute or two a game.. I didn't mind.. because sitting on the bench actually helped me truly understand the game of basketball. At the age of 18 I actually enrolled to attend Florida State to study Journalism but my idea of what I wanted to be in the future changed as I met Leonard Hamilton, the coach of the Florida State Seminoles. He actually took me under his wing when I showed him my knowledge of the game and made me an assistant head coach.. well not really, more like an assistant to the assistant, but I was still observing and giving my opinion. By the time I was 24 and had graduated with my degree in journalism he offered me the assistant coaching position, which to be honest seemed a hell of a lot better than journalism. I went on as assistant coach of the Seminoles until 2010, when I got a shock call from Coach Hamilton telling me that he had gotten me an interview with another team and I should go. That began what I saw as my journey to the top of the basketball world.

September 2nd, 2010 - Tulsa, Oklahoma
Coach Hamilton handed me a ticket to Tulsa, Oklahoma and I understood that I had an interview with the managers of the NBA D-League team, the Tulsa 66ers. I've watched the D-League a lot, and there are truly some hidden gems in there. As I arrived at the airport in Tulsa, the at the time coach of the 66ers, Nate Tibbetts picked me up and drove me to the Tulsa Convention Center. He was telling me on the way there that he admired how young I was an the drive that I had for coaching. He also ended up telling me that he accepted a job coaching a team in Italy and because of that he actually scouted out coaching talent for the 66ers for himself. Coach Tibbetts said that he believes the D-League should not only be for developing young playing talent, but also young coaching talent and for that reason when he heard that Coach Hamilton proposed the idea of me as a coach, he was quite interested. Coach Tibbetts took me to the Convention Center and I talked with both him and Oklahoma City Thunder and Tulsa 66ers owner Clayton Bennett. We all instantly clicked and when I told Clayton the idea's I had for the team, he was quite intrigued and actually offered me the head coaching job himself. I obviously accepted, this is my stepping stone to coaching in the NBA, this is Anthony Priamos signing off, or should I say, Coach Priamos.

- I will be playing and simming games. As you can't get "promoted" in the game, when I see fit "Coach Priamos" will hopefully be offered a job by another NBA team (so I will have to use the "resign position function").
- D-League Call-Ups and NBA Players being sent down to the D-League will be stated through my "D-League News Feeds".

Tulsa 66ers beat Bakersfield Jam 84-65 for their first win with new coach, Anthony Priamos

November 19, 2010, Jam Events Center - The Tulsa 66ers led by new coach Anthony Priamos today defeated the Bakersfield Jam 84-65 behind Latavious Williams' 22 points and 7 rebounds. The Jam played quite well throughout the first half and were only down by 3 at the half, however in the 2nd half it was all about the trio of Patrick Beverley, Robert Vaden and Latavious Williams as they easily outplayed the Jam squad led by point guard Bobby Brown. Patrick Beverley had a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists and Robert Vaden had 17 points with a notable display of 5 3-pointers.

The Bakersfield Jam however will have to be disappointed with Bobby Brown as Brown went 2 for 11 from the field from 3-Point range, many believing as reason as to why the 66ers managed to pull away in the 2nd half. The Jam will have a chance to avenge themselves tomorrow night as the Jam take on the 66ers in a rematch, again, in Bakersfield.

Player of the Game: Latavious Williams
22 Points, 7 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 7-18 FG, 4-8 3PT, 4-4 FT

November 20th, 2010 - Tulsa, Oklahoma
An assistant of mine today introduced me to the newest person on my team. Byron Mullens. Coach Scott Brooks called me today and told me that he was sending Mullens to the 66ers for a while because he wasn't getting much playing time due to Ibaka, Krstic and Aldrich.. who supposedly might see a few games in the D-League himself if he doesn't perform well. I'm happy we have Mullens, Sene was a good center, but it's good to have someone solid in the middle who's both athletic and can rebound. Mullens is going to be our starting center, and hopefully he'll help the 66ers continue on this win streak.

Also got word today that Da'Sean Butler and Chris Johnson from the D-League have been called up and signed to contracts to the Spurs and the Bucks respectively.. I suppose that's a good thing for both them and my team, considering that we have two less threats to worry about.

Tulsa 66ers defeat 72-60 behind young star Latavious Williams' 27 points

November 26, 2010, Tulsa Convention Center - The Tulsa 66ers extended their winning streak to 3 straight games today against the Iowa Energy behind Latavious Williams' amazing showing of 27 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block and 4 steals. The young forward captivated the crowd with his fantastic scoring mentality. Williams went 13-13 from the line on the night, hitting all of his free throws. Byron Mullens whom was recently assigned to the D-League by the Oklahoma City Thunder put on a great show scoring 17 points to go with 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks. Patrick Beverley continued his stellar play at the point and had 8 points and 3 steals to go with a team high 7 assists.

The Iowa Energy took the lead early in the first quarter however by the end of the first quarter, a dunk by Latavious Williams changed the pace of the game and the fast paced 66ers offense was running up and down the court, getting fouls and stealing the ball consistently. Othyus Jeffers was the best player on a less than average Energy squad today. Jeffers had 10 points to go with 8 rebounds and 8 assists, nearing him to the first triple double of the D-League season. The Energy come back to the Tulsa Convention Center tomorrow to face the 66ers in a rematch of todays game.

I went to a D-League game once, they don't really care about the games (the people). They go play the games. And D-League basketball is boring

Anyway, nice 4-0 start for the 66ers :o

Williams looks very good early on. I remember the HEAT making history by picking him, only player straight to D-League from HS.

Interesting choice, best of luck. I never follow D-League in my associations, only if I send someone down there to make a roster spot available and see, what I was giving up.

I think this kind of association hasn't been done besides what antho's doing now.
On Topic: Nice 4-0 start, I hope you can get promoted to the Thunder's head coach. (Y)
