My Orlando Dynasty

Postby darknezx on Sun Jan 11, 2004 7:43 pm

Hi

Finally got the game to work. Now I'm planning to build a successful franchise with the Orlando Magic. I started the season by doing the following trade:

J.Sasser + S.Hunter == E. Curry + R.Mason Jr.

Now my team rating has risen to 86, and I start off the first match against the New York Knicks.

Starters
E. Curry [C]
J. Howard [PF]
G. Hill [SF]
T. McGrady [SG]
S. Williams [PG]

@New York Knicks - 74-89
Orlando Magic star Tracy McGrady said it best, "Bring on the Lakers!"
Indeed, the Magic finished off a masterclass performance to defeat the Knicks 89-74 at Madison Square Garden, with McGrady leading all scorers with 27pts. In a game that they led all game, there was never a threat from the Knicks of a late comeback. A 15-2 run sparked off a lead of 40-31 halftime lead, and from then on the Magic looked comfortable with shooting the ball, having 56% success from the field. Their next game will be at New Orlean Hornets, where Baron Davis has led them to a first-day win. New recruit Curry emphasised his qualities by having a double-double, 12 points, 14 rebounds to end the night.

New Orlean Hornets - 96-91
There was never a question of a win, or was there? McGrady once again led his team with 27pts, 3 asst and 5 rebounds in the win, but it was Davis who stole the limelight. "We played good-D, but we took too many ill-advised shots in the 3rd quarter, man, we gave them the game." Lamented Davis, who finished with 35 pts, 7 asst, 3steals. The Magic led by as many as 25 starting the 2nd quarter, however a 16-0 run saw them cut into the lead while the starters were out of the game. They closed in and turned what was a 25pt lead into a 2 possession game. However just when McGrady reentered the game, the Hornets went cold for 4:30, scoring just 1 pt off Davis. They were 0-11 from beyond the arc. Thereafter Magic led all game long, and when McGrady was brought off with 5:27 remaining, the crowd cheered for their favourite MVP candidate. Said head coach Johnny Davis, "We passed the ball well, and although we didn't have that many assists on paper (11), the fact that we opened the game with our unselfish play has really given us a huge boost. It's still early, but I'm optimistic." How a trade can really count, with Curry once again having another doubledouble, ending with 10pts, 18 rebounds.

Detroit Pistons
Is the Magics finally shaping into a championship contender? Well no one had doubts after completing a comeback late in the fourth quarter. In their home court, the Magic were supposed to overrun the Pistons. How wrong they were. 3 consecutive 3 pointers by Billups and Prince gave the Pistons a 25-9 advantage after just 4 minutes of play. Just when it could get no worse, Tracy McGrady injured his left knee in an awkward collision with Pistons star Ben Wallace. He left the game with 1:45 remaining in the second quarter. By halftime, Magic were a depleted team with Curry and Howard showing signs of fatigue.
After halftime, McGrady was not present, although lockerroom sources confirmed he was still able to play. Johnny Davis was reportedly angered by his team's lack of concentration that he told them what he felt, abeit in exclamations, and it helped. They chased loose balls, contested shots and sparked a 22-5 run which pulled them to 2 with 4:02 left in the third. McGrady went back into the game for Lue, together with Howard, Gooden and Curry put in their best performances so far. He took a few shots to warm up, but they finally held on for a 91-90 victory.
At the press conference, Johnny Davis replied after a question on how the Magic rebounded from a poor first half showing, "Well, I made my fustrations known. They were tired from the last game at New Orleans, but this ain't no reason. We had to come out strong and we did. Tracy had a big game after being injured, these are your superstars whom win you games night in night out. His 28 points made a big difference."

Nice start, but I think your Eddy Curry deal was very unrealistic.

Since you're noy playing realistically, If you want you can get LeBron James for Juwan Howard. My friend did that.
