My Cavs franchise, with LeBron James! (3rd season now!)

Fri Jun 20, 2003 4:11 pm

I started playing a Cavs franchise... I'm on the 1st season, goin' 5-4 so far.

Lineup:

Zydrunas Ilgauskas (averages 15.4 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.3 bpg, first on Offensive boards on the team, with 3.2 per game)
Carlos Boozer (averages 10.4 ppg, 9.1 rpg, leads team in blocks per game with 1.7 per... crappy offensive rebounder)
Ricky Davis (averages 20.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.9 apg, leads team in steals per game with 1.7 per game... best finisher on the team)
DaJuan Wagner (averages 14.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.3 spg... but shoots just 37% FG... very streaky, but I like him)
LeBron James (the real deal: plays like Magic Johnson: averages 17.2 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 10.1 apg, 0.8 spg, 1.1 bpg... best passer on the team by far... the 2nd player with most assists averages like 2.5 per game; leads team in defensive reboundin; he's the starting point guard; anybody who wants his ratings, give me a shout)

Bench:

DeSagana Diop (averages 2 points and 2 boards per game... nothing else. used occasionally.)
Chris Mihm (don't like him very much, white big guy...; averages 4 points and 3 boards per game.)
Darius Miles (the Super Sub; 4th on the team in scoring, with 11.2 per game; 3.4 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.4 bpg)
Smush Parker (combo guard; averages 6 points, 2 boards and 2 assists per game)
Milt Palacio (worst player on the roster; averages 1 ppg, 2 apg)
Tierre Brown (quite a find; averages 4 ppg, 2.4 apg)
Jumaine Jones (disappointing; highly rated but doesn't produce; classic tweener; averages 3 ppg, 2 rpg, 31% FG)
"Yogi" Stewart (only for comical purposes; averages 2 ppg, 2 rpg)

Comments? :D

You have a bretty good roster, nothing special, but when I play with the Cavs then I have almost the same squad. About the same with Jumane Jones, he has good ratings, but when I'm playing then he can't to nothing! :
But about Palacio, I don't know if he is the worst player, for you maybe, but in my franchise he gets a lot of steals and assists coming of the bench!

Fri Jun 20, 2003 4:39 pm

What are your Bron ratings? I posted mine in the top 3 patch announcement thread (made him 85 overall.) Darius Miles is always better in Live cause he can dunk and run, and only 1.4 bpg with him

Fri Jun 20, 2003 4:45 pm

Bowyer:

What do you mean "when I play with the Cavs I have almost the same squad"? You tryin' to say you only don't have LeBron?

Yeah, Jumaine Jones can be frustrating... As I said before, the guy's tweener... I thought he would be a far better rebounder... He's slow on the drive, can't go to the rack...

I don't like Palacio... He's much slower than Tierre Brown... Can't shoot, etc... But I agree with ya, he's good at the Steal Dept.

Colin:

I dunno my LeBron ratings right now, I'd have to go look it in the game... I know I used tweaked rosters, and I use part of Nick's suggestion of ratings for LeBron, but I modified some things like jumping, FG, quickness, etc... Actually, LeBron is rated at about 75... Jumaine Jones (!) is better than him...

The reason Miles gets only 1.4 bpg is the same reason he gets only 3.4 rpg... He's not good on D... He's good running and dunking... So when I get a rebound, Darius is already on the other end of the court... (Y)

I have lebron but my starting 5 is a bit different:
C- Ilgauskas
PF- Boozer
SF-Ricky D
SG- Lebron !
PG- Wagner

I know that wagner has no big pg skills but lebron can gueard better Kobe or T-Mac!

Fri Jun 20, 2003 4:59 pm

Now that makes sense... Well, I do it kinda like Philly: when on D, I change the assignments... Wagner gets the PG, LeBron gets the SG... That's what a guy like LeBron can do for you,

Fri Jun 20, 2003 9:56 pm

Yeah, that's good. Now I put lebron on PG, and wagner on SG. Thanx :D!

Sat Jun 21, 2003 4:02 am

No worries... (Y)

See, basketball is just a matter of playing your strengths and avoiding your weaknesses... That's why I play Wagner as a SG...

Sat Jun 21, 2003 7:54 am

bahhh....you suck! your franchice sucks! James sucks! Yogi rocks!!!!

now seriously... :D

I like what you do with the defensive matchups....

from what i understand you don't want to trade....i suggest riding the season with the original cavs squad....and only accepting CPU trades...not purposing any deals on your own....since the CPU can be easily cheated out of goot players.....Starting a franchise with the cavs is an interesting idea....since all players will eventually develop...

did you remember to change Lebron's carrier pkg to A or B.....couse if he's game created he's C or D...which means he won't develop....

meanehile...i hope ya kick the NBA's ars...and will every single award!!!

Sat Jun 21, 2003 8:06 am

LOL :)

Thanks, (Y)

I won't trade any players till season's end... Then I'll see what I'll do... Actually I turned off the CPU proposing trades too... I like the teams intact... (Y)

Yeah, I changed the career package to all my players... Of course, LeBron's an A, (Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)

I think I got a real chance to win MVP with LeBron... I just got to score like in the mid-20s... He's averaging like 18 per game right now... But he's like Magic, he tries to keep everybody happy, even if that means DaJuan shooting 37%!!

Mon Jun 23, 2003 2:36 pm

Well, I played two more games today, won both, against Chicago and Milwaukee.

DaJuan Wagner was my best player on the 1st game, scoring 31 and dishing 7 assists... LeBron had something like 12 points, 8 assists and only 5 boards. Ricky Davis had a season-best 10 boards and scored 18.

On the 2nd game I decided to start Miles and bring Boozer off the bench,it payed off... Miles was POG with 22 points, 13 boards and 4 assists, and Booz had 8 and 8 off the bench in limited minutes. Ricky Davis had 14 points, 8 boards and 5 assists, Wagner had 18 points and 4 boards, and LeBron had 22 points, 4 boards and 6 assists.

I'm 7-3 right now, comin' of 4 straight wins, (Y)

Hey guys, who's rosters are you using in your franchise? I want to find a good roster to play with...sorry to break the chat, but I want to get your feedback. If you have any other recommended patches, please let me know.

Thanks!

Thu Jun 26, 2003 2:51 pm

I use the tweaked rosters included on the NLSC rosters... Play it on superstar level, 9-min quarters, and I also select the offensive strategy for the computer team before starting to play the game. I think this very last thing is very, very important, it keeps PGs from firing all those crazy 3s and running the break like crazy asses.

Well, I tried to play against the Celtics today, couldn't load the game, so I simmed it and won, (Y)

Then I played against the Lakers, lost by like 25 points, Kobe and Fisher were too much for me... Shaq had like 8 points, 13 boards and 6 shots, weird considering I selected the offensive strategy for the computer.

Later, played against Seattle, won in a very entertaining game.

LeBron was POG with 15 points, 9 rebounds (all defensive, he leads team) and 8 assists, plus 2 blocks.

Also, I played without Ilgauskas those past 2 games... I put Diop on his place... I wanna get my bench guys some PT, wanna play with the rotation too...

I'm 10-5 now though... Here are my player's averages:

Ilgauskas: 15.5 ppg, 9.6 rpg (3.3 offensive), 1.2 bpg, 1.4 spg, 1.7 apg
Boozer: 11.0 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.2 spg, 1.6 apg
Davis: 21.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.7 spg, 2.7 apg
Wagner: 17.3 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.2 spg
James: 17.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg (6.8 defensive), 1.0 bpg, 0.9 spg, 8.5 apg

Miles: 13.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 0.7 bpg, 1.1 apg
Parker: 6.0 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 4.1 apg
Mihm: 4.8 ppg, 3.4 rpg
Diop: 2.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.6 bpg, 0.9 apg
Jones: 3.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.2 apg
Palacio: 1.3 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 2.3 apg
Stewart (Yogi): 2.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg
Brown: 2.1 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 2.1 apg

I know it's a bit early to tell, but I'm thinking about trading Jones and someone else (Wagner or Davis) for some good SF, like Garnett. Yeah, the CPU will bite on this one, I am pretty sure about that, (Y)

Any ideas on good, versatile SFs guys?

Thu Jun 26, 2003 2:59 pm

Antawn Jamison
Caron Butler is good, can't think of any others.

Thu Jun 26, 2003 4:25 pm

I'm thinking about trading Jones and someone else (Wagner or Davis)

Trade Miles.

I would go for Marion or Garnett. (Y)

Thu Jun 26, 2003 4:52 pm

Garnett is the best that you can find, but he is maybe too good for a trade. Maybe a good choice would be Marion. And I think you shouldn't trade Miles, because he is your best bench player :)!

Thu Jun 26, 2003 11:44 pm

If you can do a Miles and Jones for KG deal, do it. Don't wait!

Fri Jun 27, 2003 3:04 am

Colin:

I don't like Antawn Jamison, actually I used to play a franchise with the Warriors before starting this Cavs one, I got bored quickly. Butler could be a steal, though his playing style is very similar to Davis. I'd like someone more versatile than Jamison... Kinda like Garnett (drooling...)

Nick:

Marion would be good... I want rebounding for my "new" SF... I think Ricky Davis doesn't rebound well, if you also consider Wagner, the starting PG, gets only 3 rpg a game... I don't want to trade Miles, like bowyer, said, he's my best player of the bench...

MJForever:

I'm sure the CPu would bite on this proposed trade... In fact, I simmed my season (withough saving) and proposed the trade, the Wolves accepted... lol. Actually I think I could get someone better from Minnesota if I package like Davis (or Wagner, the remaining one goes to the starting SG spot), Jones and Mihm for like Garnett and a post player.

Keep them suggestions comin' (Y)

Fri Jun 27, 2003 6:32 am

I know you said you don't like Jamison, but in my Franchise he's developed to a 92 so far, I think in the 3rd year? and he's gotten alot better, mostly dunks still, but great midrange jumpshooter and very consistently hits open threes.

Just somethin to consider (I don't know if you knew any of that or not, just tryin to help)

Fri Jun 27, 2003 6:27 pm

Now you have to choose which SF you want... I think The Big Ticket is the best opinion. But don't ever get a player you don't like, cause when you play with him it gets very boring. At least it's my opinion!

Yeah, no problem, I see where you comin' from, (Y)

The reason I don't wanna get Jamison is that I also have a Warriors franchise... So I wouldn't like to have him aboard in the Cavs franchise too...

Meanwhile, I'll see if I can play some game(s) this weekend... I'll try to keep you guys up-to-date... (N)

Sat Jun 28, 2003 5:08 pm

Yeah, don;t trade for players you feel comfortable playing with, otherwise you get frustrated (even if you are winning) and you'll likely start the franchise again.

Sat Jun 28, 2003 9:32 pm

Tales, i think you should try and go for Drew Gooden, he's a great post player and his ratings improved to 99 in my franchise. This was in the year 2010/11. and he averaged 38 pts and 14 rebs. Just lucky i guess. ;)

I still think you should trade miles. Your wasting a valualbe player on the bench when you could be using an 87 rated center of power forward.

Sat Jun 28, 2003 10:16 pm

Nobody is sayin vince :( , he is versatile, great leaper, good jump shot and even threes, i like him more than garnet :D , though garnett is the better player, vince just more athletic and looks cooler  , but oh well, my arguments are based on fundaments really but just wanted to propose vince :D

Sat Jun 28, 2003 10:51 pm

Nobody is saying Vince because he doesn't need another SG...duh...
