Boston Slips By Blazers

Before the game Blazers have waived Richie Frahm and signed Oliver Miller to a 1 year contract, terms were undisclosed.

Yesterday Blazers have faced Celtics on the road. The game started off rough for both teams with coupple of turnovers and missed shots. First score was a free throw shot by Eddie Jones after being fouled by Pierce.

The game finally got going when Josh Howard has drained two jumpers in Jiri Welsches face. The Blazers went on 6-0 run to get a 9 point advantage, but Celtics responded with a 10-0 run of their own.

At the end of second quarter Celtics lead by 1.

The Celtics started the second quarter with a 15-0 surge and put themselves in a driving seat. Pierce was simply on fire and had 10 points out of those 15. After calling a time out Maurce Cheeks shuffeled the line ups some more and the Blazers put together a 10-0 run to come back.

Randolph had 10pts and 8rbd while Pierce led the Leprechauns with 15pts and 1 board.

The Blazers opened the 3rd with 12-0 run to come back and make it a game closer to the end. The vocal point was Zach Randolph who had 31 at the end.

The fourth quarter started similar to the 1st. The game became tight with every team scoring consistently. After a coupple of good defensive plays Portland came as close as three points. After Josh Howard got an interception Damon Stoudmire got the ball behind the arc, and tied the game with his only 3 point make of the game.

With two minutes left Portland had a 6 point lead. But Paul Pierce scored two three pointers to tie it up. After Howard scored his shot Portland was 2v points ahead with less then a minute left to go.

After Paytons miss Raitliff got fould but missed both his shots. Boston went on a small but significant 4 pts run. With less then 5sec. left to go Maurice Cheeks called a time our to set up for Eddie Jones to shot. Jones missed a three with 1 second left.

"We had it but defensive mistakes cost it for us" said Cheeks at the end of the game, "we could stop Paul Pierce has been to much to handle".
"We couldnt stop them in the post" said Doc Rivers "but we got solid play from out guards and that won us the game". Doc was right about big men play, Randolph and Ratliff combined for 37 boards and 45 points. Boston won 84 - 82. Paul Pierce was named the player of the game.
