John Mahoney new Rockets-GM! Houston-Dynasty

Houston Tribune announced that J. Mahoney joins the Rockets Management. Mahoney, a veteran in economics with questionable Basketball knowledge and without professional (baller) experience signed a two year contract in June 2002.

His first interviews and comments are astonishingly... "I'm happy about getting this chance... ...to reach titles as soon as possible. At the latest I want this ring 2004. Houston can't wait 10 years for a championship!"

"What Players I am interested for? I think, I will have a look at it, but for sure, I have some precise conceivabilities how a modern championship team has to look. I need athletic and explosive players who want to play and work professional at both ends of the court. For example, I like talented frontcourt of our team. Let's see, if the team has to change his look. Rudy and me will work on it."

We wish Mahoney and the Rockets the best for the upcoming season. Remarkable: He didn't mention "the Franchise"...

Hi there I want to play the Rockets for now... They aren't my favourite Team, but I'm looking forward to many exciting years of successful basketball. Here some points for the interested reader:

Goals:
Play as much seasons and win many championships. I will play ca. 10 regular season games by myself. This is just for fun and to have a look at the players. My focus are the playoffs. As I have not that much freetime I only play the playoffgames by myself. But this 100%

Furthermore it's a little test for myself... I don't like to play with go-to-guys from PG-position. Francis, Davis or Marbury aren't players I can handle I'm often in foul trouble and it's much easier to score from the 2, 3 or 4 for me. Next "problem" is Mobley. In my opinion he's a little to small for being a real good scorer. Let's see if it works so far.

after the first season I plan to edit the rookies to insert the "real" ones. I hope that will work so far... and I will forfeit my pick to get an "own" rookie that was generated for me some franchises ago. But I fell in love with him and so he will appear as a Rocket in 2003 All rights reserved for a little cheating with dbf-files!

Sam Mack, veteran G/F free agent signed a 30.000 contract for one year with the Houston Rockets.

Mahoney: I'm happy to get some depth and nba-experience to our bench. Sam will bring some sick shooting to our line-up. A good deal, no question!

The Houston Rockets and the Sacramento Kings agreed to a trade that sends Lawrence Funderburke and Scot Pollard in exchange for Maurice Taylor and Bostjan Nachbar to Texas. Houston GM Mahoney wanted to improve defense and rebounding capabilities and it looks like he is reaching his first goals.

As expectet, I had trouble letting my backcourt score. But Griffin and escpecially Yao are great frontcourt players. Against the Spurs, the T-Wolves and the Pistons I was able to win. Yao is my top-scorer with 20-25 points in selfplayed games, Griffin an awesome shotblocker. I have to work hard to get Mobley scoring and Francis not into foultrouble Sam Mack is doing well so far if he comes off the bench, Pollard and Funderburke are a big improvement (played one game with Mo-Taylor^^). But Posey is not my style too... a better slasher then expected but very streaky shooter. I'm planning on some big deals. See you in a few days

A big 3-Team-Trade overshadowed the Monday-Night-Press after the All-Star-Weekend. After Steve Francis appeared well at Sunday scoring for 15 Pts, 5 Boards and dishing out 7 assists he was the centre of a trade which was considerally designed by Rockets GM John Mahoney. The Rockets sent Posey to the Clippers in exchange for Corey Maggette who was part of a three player package that goes to Orlando: Glen Rice, Corey Maggette and Kobe Bryant are now in Florida under contract who gave up Drew Gooden, Tracy McGrady and Chris Whitney. While the Lakers receive Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley and Tito Maddox for Devean George, Kobe Bryant and Sam Clancy.

Likewise on Monday Mahoney had another deal with Minnesota and Philadelphia. Hudson for Whitney and a six player deal: Cato, Funderburke and Juaquin Hawkins for Tyrone Hill, Rodney Buford and Greg Buckner!

Mahoney: A blockbuster trade and a few "experts" will critizice less depth of the Rockets bench or less go-to-guys in this roster... but I am very happy with our new ones. They represent the Rockets in it selfs. They're explosive at both ends of the court and they are all hungry for a title. It's a young team with great prospects for great games in near future. T-Mac will lead this Rockets to a new Dynasty.

McGrady: The whole Weekend there were rumors around. I don't know the plans of my former team but my new employer made the better deal. Drew and me are looking forward to our first training sessions with the new Rockets and we think that there is great potencial and a talented young team for us. I'm sure, that we will all profiting of this trade.

The games I played, before Steve Francis perfomed at the All-Star-Weekend, resemble closely to my second posting. I tried to do well with a go-to-guy at PG but it was absolutely not my playing style. Very much fouls, a small SG and a streaky shooting SF... i like it to play with non-perfect teams but the Rockets suck So I decided to trade Francis and Mobley. My goals: roleplaying PG and SF with some shooting skill and T-Mac + Gooden. The trade took shape

Posey was a victim of this trade. Actually I wanted to keep him like Pollard, Griffin and Yao but then I had the chance going for Devean George. What a great roleplayer. This is Horry-School! Troy Hudson came to appreciate to me with older NBA Lives. A shy serviceable guy That's the type of playmaker I need... respectively if I can't afford a better guy

My further plans:
Jason Terry in the next season. The Problem is... his contract with the Hawks runs out and that it will be hard to trade somebody who earns 30.000 Units. You know what I mean

Whoo Hooo!

"Blur" opened the first tip-off for the new Rockets with "Song 2". The Grizzlies got their "head checked by a jumbo jet". T-Mac took over and contributet 40 points (4 boards, 8 assists, 4 steals, 3 blocks - 6 turnovers ). I like' em, this young guns. What did I say? Explosive at both ends of the court? Wise words...

I played three games with T-Mac & Sons now and I was even able to beat the Kings! (my personal bogy team) I think I will simulate up to the playoffs now. I'm curious

Up to now, I comply with my opponent. Griffin is a great defender and shotblocker, so he plays SF against the Magic, Hawks, Seattle etc. But the Starting Five o.m. is ok so far. Pollard and Gooden are a nasty backup frontcourt Particularly that is because of my "tactic"... Gooden is a solid scorer from bench and I play with auto substitution. So I need 2-3 guys with scoring capabilities from bench.

But I am surprised about Buford^^ Excellent fastbreaks, nice at isolation and he shoots better then I expected. He's most reliable scorer from bench - 6-12 pts.
