´Bron´s Dinasty

Postby frankjuly on Wed Jan 19, 2005 7:50 am

Hi, I´m starting a Dinasty with the Cavs, since they have one of the most exciting players of the NBA (obviously Bron). I´m using NLSC rosters and i´m really excited about it.

First of all, I´m on All Star Level, 4 mins Quarters and the default sliders, no fantasy draft and 29 games season.

The first thing is run the preseason workouts, where i noticed that Lebron jumped up to 92 overall, and the rest stayed basically the same or jumped 1 or 2 `points up too.

I´ll continue posting, if i find some interest from you guys

No 4 minutes really isnt short. I used to do 2 minute quarters in Live 99, but that was obviously forthat game, theres no fun playing 8 minute games in Live 2005.

However, 4 minute quarters are good for those "impatient". I usually boost substitute frequency and fatique so that bench also plays importance, and stars score about 12 points per game.

Recently though Ive gotten used to 8 minute quarters, tweaked NLSC Rosters (definetly LESS steals for user, but 50 as game speed). Game takes longer, but for a dynasty it needs some time to progress quick enough, and this is one of the reasons Im playing more exhibition games than Ive gotten used to.

But yeah, you can have an enjoyable dynasty with 4 minute quarters, but the best experience is yes around 8.

About the quarter length

Postby frankjuly on Wed Jan 19, 2005 10:50 pm

Thanx for all your replies. About the length, i have played 4 mins quarters and 29 games seasons trough all the LIVE series, maily because i don´t like to sim games and find out that a really cool player went down his ratings because his stats weren´t good enough (the computer does sux sometimes). That way (playing 4 mins q, and playing all season long), i ensure that my players goes up every season and thats basically what i like about LIVE, their realism. For me at least, it´s mre interesting to play this way, than playing 10 or 12 minutes quarters and sim 50% of the season.

Back to the dinasty

Postby frankjuly on Wed Jan 19, 2005 11:14 pm

Well, back to the game. As i told you guys, my players improved their ratings a little bit through the offseason. At this point, i got a really scary thought.... what if i trade for MELO ???????

The first questions coming to my mind were:
do i have enough talent to lure the nuggets??
how can i match my top salaried players with the nuggets salary cap??

Well, instead of losing my time asking myself this questions, i started to make some moves on the market, trying to answer my questions.

I found that i have some disposables players, such as "Z", snow, traylor, pavlovic, gooden and mcinnis (basically the hole team) could be packed to denver, but their salary cap will shut the trade down.

I GOT MELOOOOOOOOOOO

Postby frankjuly on Wed Jan 19, 2005 11:34 pm

Yeah, i got f...... carmelo from denver. The story of the trade is to long to tell, but basically a had to move all the players listed above (previous post) in order to get him. The best thing is that i didn´t screw the nuggets in the meantime, ´cause they ended getting jason richarson (whom i got from golden state in a previous trade) and 2 other role players. Since their lack of SG was thier main weakness, they ended getting a quality SG and a deeper roster.
Now, as the CAVS GM, I´ll need to improve my roster because, as you noticed, i sent the hole team away, jajajaj.
At the end, result that my instincts weren´t that bad at all. I found at free agency some role players, to replace the others and a couple of good players to sign long term. Now, i have THE MOST exciting team in the league and enough space at the salary cap to get next year bests free agents): R.ALLEN-A.KIRILENKO-S.ABDUL RAHIM (if somehow they don´t resign with their team, da)

Quick tought to honestly help you... just edit the file from outside the game. You will get the same result in much less time. But if you're having fun... thats all that counts really! Good luck!

Season Update - January 2005

Postby frankjuly on Thu Jan 20, 2005 2:09 am

At this time, we are not as good as projected originally. We are 5-7 (of the 29 scheduled). Despite having great performances from Bron and Melo (they both are averaging over 11 ppg, toping the league), the supporting cast hadn´t played equaly. Desagana Diop is Gret under the basket (grabbing almost 7 boards per game, toping the league too). The rest, very dissapointing. We´ll need more from them if we want to make the playoffs this year. The only good thing about it, is that next year´s draft class is projected as very strong from the scouts.

Not quite good so far

Postby frankjuly on Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:28 pm

Well, i guess this season is lost for good. Yesterday we lost 2 more games against poor teams (the clippers and the knicks) and we played horrendous basketball. Melo wasn´t even interested in playing, scoring 2 and 11 points in those games. Bron scored 14 and 4, not much better than Melo. Scoping the draft class of next year, i found an 18 year stud, a SG projected as the top recruit by the scouts. The next Lebron?????
