I'm going to try using the Knicks as my dynasty team. Here are my settings:

12 minute quarters
12 minute sim length
Sliders based off Andrew's but changed from there. (Such as fatigue rating [60] and reach in foul [95])
Latest NLSC roster

I'm not letting the computer control for me. At the start of each game I go to the other team and change their team strategy to whatever their team uses, and I myself use my own set plays that I choose.

New York could not beat the McGrady-less Magic

Game 1



Key Player

Stephon Marbury

Stephon Marbury shows the fans that he's a star, but it's not enough to win this one.

The final score - 111 to 113

Due to undisclosed reasons, Tracy Mcgrady was unavailable to play on opening night. The Knicks started slow on their first game. Allan Houston started off cold, and the Knicks were trailing by 15 at the end of the 1st half. Allan's shooting picked up, however, and because of the strong play by Allan, Marbury, Mutombo, and support from Tim Thomas, the Knicks were able to narrow the lead to a single basket. The Magic simply caught fire from the field, knocking down everything by the last 3 minutes of the game. Allan Houston sat out the beginning of the 4th to get some much needed rest. He was put back in with 2 minutes left. The Knicks slowly caught up playing good defense and grabbing all of the boards, and were able to narrow the deficit to 2, with a score of 111-113. There were 10.3 seconds left. The ball was inbounded to Houston, who was supposed to get a pick off of Mutombo. For some unknown reason, Mutombo was either too slow setting the pick, or he simply lost his mind. Nevertheless, Houston never got the pick, and was forced to throw up a contested shot, which bounced off the rim as the buzzer sounded. The Knicks could not pull away and lost their first game. Penny Hardaway had a good game off the bench, and was one of the X-factors in decreasing the deficit.

Drew Gooden was one of the mainstays in Orlando's offense, and kept the lead almost completely out of reach.

Another great night for Starbury.

The final score - 114 to 107

This was a close game, until the end. The Knicks were able to pull away to their first victory. Mike Sweetney was put at the starting PF position, with Vin Baker following on the bench. It turned out to be a good move to give Mike Sweetney some playing time. Not only did he shut down Tim Duncan's scoring (12 points), he heavily outscored him (with 28 points) and also shot a higher percentage (61% over 54%). Sweetney's great performance is improving the way his team thinks of him, and he should be looking to a great year as a starter if he keeps this up. Tony Parker was quick and explosive, but Marbury was quicker. Marbury was able to work well with Sweetney and together they both did great. The game would have been a blowout had it not been for Allan Houston's poor performance. He scored 12 points in 30 minutes, as opposed to Penny Hardaway's 12 points in 19 minutes. This doesn't look to well for Houston, and if this continues, he may soon find him self warming the bench for Hardaway, or possibly even making friends on a new team. Tim Thomas put up another average, consistent game, and was very aggressive on the boards. The score was tied throughout the game, until the Knicks broke ahead 5 points at the end of the 3rd. They were expecting the Spurs to make a run, and they did, but they were shut down before they could get very far, and the comeback was never completed. Dikembe Mutombo put up an average game with 11 points, over Spurs starting center Rasho Nesterovic's 8 points. This was a very energizing win.


Marbury and Sweetney were in high spirits as they headed for the locker room.

It was a good move placing Mike Sweetney as a starter. His hustle play and tough defense helped the Knicks to victory.

Great dynasty Mr. Magic,

I think, no matter what team you go for in the NBA, you like the Knicks... everyone loves the Knicks!! Anyway, Sweetney is really putting up some puurdy numbers there. I think people don't know how good he really is, because he's in the shadow of Ku. Thomas, but he is a really good ball player. And good to see Starbury getting some points. Deke looks like he's on fire, and he's what... over 35? How's Tim T, Nazr, Vin, DeMarr and Penny doing?? They all seem to be playing well... Any improvements you could make, trades?? Anyone in particular, cause that's a decent lineup, maybe you could strengthen the SF spot, or C? Anyway, keep up the good work mate, all looks good, especially the screens!!

I think I'll keep Tim Thomas. He doesn't put up the best numbers, but he is a great all around scorer, and he's consistent. (I don't know if he's a dirty player or whatnot in the real NBA, but oh well).

I'm not sure about my C position, I'm considering making Sweetney a C and giving him LOTS of practice time to improve his game. I hope he can become a great player.

either way, Tim Thomas isn't really a dirty player in real life, just a bad locker room presence and soft player who has never lived up to his potential. i'm not a big fan of him, but i agree, he's a heckuva a scorer in the game.

By practice I mean individual practice. He really needs to improve his jumpshot, and I also wish to make him a slightly better ball handler (so he could play a different position if necessary and also cut down on the turnovers).

After careful consideration, the Knicks believe they need a more efficient backup SF in their games. Antawn Jamison is a solid SF which they hope will provide excellent energy off of the bench. The Knicks think the reason they lose games is because their bench is not up to par. The star players will play and do good damage, but when the bench comes in, the team falls apart. With Antawn Jamison in their roster, the Knicks hope to get more wins.

Magic barely pull away... again

Game 3



Key Player

Marbury was the key player to this game, and his poor performance caused a loss.

The final score - 124 to 126

Orland was able to pull away without McGrady the first time, so with him playing the second time, it was twice as easy. Stephon Marbury was completely out of it today. He threw the ball away too many times to count, which just added up to transition baskets. Mike Sweetney had a decent game, along with Tim Thomas. Allan Houston had a good game, with 23 points, and so did Penny Hardaway, with 21 points. Although the key player was Marbury, the key matchup was Tracy McGrady and Penny Hardaway, the former Magic player. Being younger and having more endurance, Tracy McGrady was able to play longer, forcing Penny Hardaway to do a good job against him as Houston rested. Both of these player had their highlights in this game, but New York couldn't grab the win. It was a very close game all the way through. 4th quarter, with 10 left on the clock, Allan Houston hits a 3 to give them a 3 point lead and supposedly give them the win. However, they let their guard down, and Tracy McGrady was able to answer at the other end with a buzzer beating 3 pointer to force overtime. The Knicks were tired and had the energy sapped from them, as they played through a grueling overtime as they tried to hold on. Tracy McGrady does it again, this time with a 2 pointer that leaves 11 seconds on the clock. The ball is inbounded. Allan Houston is double teamed. The only person open is Tim Thomas. He gets the ball, and he's played tight with pressure D. He's unable to get all the way to the hoop, and is forced to take a mid range jumpshot at the buzzer to force second overtime! It bricks off the rim, and the Knicks go home upset.


Marbury throws it away yet again.


Battle for #1, Penny vs. Tracy


Penny and Tracy can't take their eyes off of DeClercq's new kicks, moments before getting clocked in the head by the ball.






Penny shows he still has the moves after spinning through the double team effort.


Tracy lays the ball in moments before Allan Houston can get up to block the shot.


The Magic are overjoyed with Tracy's 3 to force overtime, as they begin to strut their stuff off the court.

The key was unable to unlock the way to victory.

The final score - 119 to 112

The Bucks were an easy opponent, in this wild game. Halfway through the 1st quarter, Mutombo went down with a leg injury. He was done for the game. Nazr Mohammed was thrown in to fill his shoes, and quick on his feet Antawn Jamison was the new backup C. This was the last thing Jamison expected, since he thought he would be a SF off the bench for Tim Thomas. Antawn Jamison had a great game, scoring 19 points in 19 minutes. The Bucks never had a lead even once in the game. They were down by 8 most of the 1st half. Then with 4 minutes left in the 1st half, Desmond Mason was stripped by Thomas, who went coast to coast all the way to the hoop. However, Desmond Mason wasn't going to let him get away very easily, and bumped into him in midair, causing him to land on his left elbow. Tim Thomas had to sit out and be examined, but it was concluded that he could return to the game. After halftime, Tim Thomas returned, with a vengance. He scored 26 points, shooting 72% from the field, while Desmond Mason scored 17 points, shooting 38% from the field. Other stars like Michael Redd and Mike Sweetney put up decent numbers, but nothing special. Desmond Mason was the key player to the game, but his foolish mistake of awakening Tim Thomas was Milwaukee's downfall. Meanwhile Antawn Jamison was playing well as the backup C, shooting 58% from the field. At the end of the game both injured players were able to shake off the pain and are now fine. This easy win only increases the Knicks' momentum.

At the end of the 3rd, the coach of the Bucks desperately tries to discuss a way to stop Tim Thomas, but their attempt fails.
