Yesterday while listening to sports talk radio, people were discussing how great LeBron James is. One of the hosts made the crazy claim that LeBron is such a brokenly good player, that if he was playing for any team in the league, they would instantly become a playoff contender. I thought this was impossible, no way. Teams like the 76ers, Bucks, and the Magic are way too bad that even having the greatest basketball player on the face of the planet can't turn them around... right?
So I had a thought, how WOULD these teams (and heck, the rest of the NBA) do if they had this monument of men on their team. Is his sheer presence enough to turn a team into a contender? On the other end, how world-beatingly good would a team like say the Thunder be if they added LeBron to their already strong lineup? Why not run a scientific study and analyze how much of a difference the man makes?
I'm a huge fan of things like
Breaking Madden, so hey why not let others in on my potentially crazy (and interesting) idea, and have some other fun along the way?
I'd be using NBA2K14 to run the simulation (fitting since the game is NBA2K: LeBron Edition) and would be including things like team stats, a comparison of the team ratings before and after LeBron (BLBJ vs ALBJ?), the teams average season performance (of course), average playoff performance (if any), and other things I may think of. I'm also thinking of running maybe 10 or 20 simulations of the season per team, and averaging that.
So I ask, what would you like to see out of this
potential series? I also
set up a Rumblr where I'll mainly be posting the entries.
