No updates coming for NBA Jam

Postby Andrew on Thu Mar 10, 2011 11:56 am

EA Sports have posted a notice on the official NBA Jam Facebook page in response to questions about the possibility of title and roster updates for the game.

There have been a lot of questions about a title or roster update and we wanted to tackle this head on. Our priority for JAM on the XBOX 360 and PS3 was to deliver HD graphics and online play to round out the great gameplay that defines the franchise. For us to also include roster and title update possibilities, we would have sacrificed quality in those key areas and thus made the difficult decision not to include them.

It should be noted that roster updates were never confirmed for NBA Jam either before or after the game's release, though EA Sports were soliciting feedback on various online and gameplay issues shortly after the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions came out.

As far as the rosters updates are concerned, they were definitely never confirmed. They're something that would've been cool and a lot of people have been wanting, but I think assumptions have been made there probably because of the DNA updates that would've come for NBA Elite 11 and have been ongoing for NBA Live 10 in the wake of Elite 11's cancellation.

The lack of a title update is a little puzzling though, as I said they did have a thread going on the official boards (at the request of the developers, as I understand it) soliciting feedback on various issues notably the online lag. I guess nothing came of that.

Yea I understand it wasn't actually confirmed but after the ipod version had updated rosters, I kind of got my hopes up! :(

Its just hasn't been a good year for EA Sports, well Fight Night just looks awesome so thats a win, but with Madden being the samething as last year with about two new thing, the death of Elite, and now how there are plenty of issues with NBA Jam but no plan updates. Eh.. I miss the old days!

That was the iPod version of NBA Elite 11 that was updated, not NBA Jam.

I wasn't talking bout an update to NBA Jam, it just had players on the right teams.... (Vince on Suns, Rashard on Wizards, etc.)

The iPod version was released with more up to date rosters? Fair enough, I wasn't aware of that.

I guess they had to given the release date of the iPod version. A shame they can't have a little DLC for the consoles though, if they are going to keep the Jam brand going then that'd be one of my top wishes, along with some in-game roster management functions.

True! Thats the reason most people stop playing the old jams & showtime, outdated rosters! (Y)

My wishlist would have in-game management to, but first and for most, I WANT A PC PORT!!!
