To say the least. That's one hell of a pack!

I feel like this confirms that some form of currency for packs has always been in the plans

It would be crazy not to do for them. Especially with how frequently you get duplicates. I think I started getting duplicates on my third or fourth pack. I've had like 3 or 4 Mason plumlees already

The framework is obviously there if it comes to that, but I think it'd be a mistake to do it. It destroys a lot of goodwill if they do.

Where's Jao at? This kind of games are right up his alley.

What does the patch fix? I hope it fixes timing on layups, because that's the most frustrating part of the game.

Also, does anyone know what leveling up players does? Does it just give them new animations? They talk about "new moves" but I'm not sure if there's more to it

Restarted my PS4, but the patch still hasn't come through yet. I'm guessing the Update History will include the patch notes when it does; it doesn't seem like they've been posted anywhere, certainly not on the game's social media at this point.

From Steam:

Notable Improvements:
Added ‘International English’ with metric units as a default language in case none of the supported languages is the user’s system language
Adjusted timing for layups and 2-pointers from under the hoop. Layups are now easier to perform, and players with low stats for 2-pointers are slightly better than before
Adjusted the steal action to better fit intended gameplay
Changed the Stars Lottery Pick so that it can only be awarded, if a team is at least 6 points behind
Improved the frequency of catching a ball while in mid-air
Improved the online matchmaking algorithm
Increased the duration of the 3 points x2 Lottery Pick
Reduced the duration of the Stars Lottery Pick

Notable Fixes:
Fixed an issue that prevented settings from being saved when leaving the options menu. (This includes fixing an issue that prevented audio settings from being saved)
Fixed an issue that occasionally caused the ‘Lighting Ball Lottery Pick’ not to score from longer distances
Fixed a misspelling of a player's name
Fixed several localization related items and enabled Steam’s language panel in the game’s properties to change the game’s language. The languages available are: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese
Fixed an issue that prevented users from seeing off-screen markers sometimes
Fixed UI resizing issues in 1280x720 resolution
Fixed issues related to key bindings in the Options Menu
Fixed an issue that prevented the ‘Q’ key from showing the Challenges of each Tournament Round
Fixed several desynch issues in bad network connection scenarios
Fixed a problem where a dunk could score after the match ended
Fixed a problem where certain menus could be skipped on PC without user input
Fixed several problems that made the ball getting stuck on the top of the backboard
Fixed a problem that prevented the ball from spinning after scoring
Fixed a problem in which failed dunks could score if the teammate was performing an alley oop

I played the updated game and all I can say is that the layup timing still sucks. They "Improved the frequency of catching a ball while in mid-air", but only slightly.

Picked it up again, finished the New York tournament. I think I'm getting the hang of it and adjusting to some of its idiosyncrasies. I'm liking it a little more as a result, but it's still a bit simplistic, unfortunately not quite up there with previous arcade basketball games. Interested to see how it plays after 1.03 hits PS4, though.

Levelled up at the same time I completed the tournament, got a couple of decent packs out of it.

You're right, we'll need footage off-screen of you playing it. I need to see your reaction.

Fourth game? That's the one with Shaq & AI right? Honestly you would THINK they'd be difficult but they weren't to me at all.

I love this game so far but the 3pt needs to be nerfed. Once I saw this dude had paul westphal i knew i lost. At least make it so contesting does anything noticeable, or limit the range a player can shoot from (you can shoot almost halfcourt bombers with Kawhi, Magic, etc and they go in). Imo it kind of defeats the purpose of having a good center/good dunker cause the only thing players will need dunkers for is to get their lottery pick bar up asap.

Certainly good news. (Y)

Ran into some frustration with the CP3/Griffin game in Paris. Things got a little cheesy with them getting a bunch of perfect releases, and they ended up winning by one. I have to admit I felt a little cheated, and that's the problem with the point-boosting mechanics and power-ups. Because they're so prevalent, they sometimes override skill and strategy. At the same time, I've been able to benefit from them, and they can make things challenging. I still have mixed feelings about some of the concepts, but aside from the cheap loss last night, I've been enjoying the game more.
