I saw a video game magazine at my store that had NBA Jam's return on the cover. It said finally sports games are fun again. I'll have to check out the article.

Nugget is just a term my mates & I back in New Zealand used to describe something crap. If it's really crap the it's a "hell nugget". Simple as that. We use to talk a lot of crap back in the day. I remember we use to say "beeiiatch!!!" like a decade ago & then 5 years later everybody was saying it (probably from rap culture I'd say).

But yes, just consider a nugget being like a douchebag. Douchebag is such a stupid word anyways, nugget or a hell nugget sounds a lot better

EDIT: On topic, I voted for Lee/Danilo/Nate for Knicks; Paul/West/Peja for Hornets (lol at the hell nugget Devin Brown  ); and Harris/Brook Lopez/CDR for Nets :P

The official NBA Jam website has posted a new round of polls for users to vote on the players who will make the cut for every team's three man roster. This week's featured teams are the Knicks, Nets and Hornets; visit the official site to cast your vote and check out the latest blog entry with picks from Yaw and Jeremy.

I voted for Gallinari, Lee and Robinson for the Knicks; Paul, West and Stojakovic for the Hornets; and Harris, Lopez and Douglas-Roberts for the Nets.

Beat me to it. :)

A new round of polls have been posted over on the official NBA Jam website, this time allowing users to vote on the rosters for the Bulls, Pistons and Sixers. The accompanying blog with a rundown of Yaw and Jeremy's choices can be found here.

My picks: Gordon, Hamilton and Prince for the Pistons; Brand, Iguodala and Iverson for the Sixers; and Rose, Thomas and Deng for the Bulls.

You picked the exact same picks as me except for Brand. I just couldn't put him in for personal reasons.

I think Tyrus Thomas would make a good NBA Jam player since he'll get an insane amount of crazy dunks & blocks, which is why I chose him over Noah.

Re: EA Sports bringing back NBA Jam

Same here. I think you need Deng in there for a more balanced attack and Rose is a given so it comes down to Thomas or Noah. Thomas' shotblocking and rebounding should more than suffice in a game like NBA Jam and his dunking ability would no doubt be higher than Noah's, which gives him the edge.

Pistons: Stuckey, Hamilton, Gordon
Sixers: AI, Iggy, Young
Bulls: Rose, Thomas, Deng

A new week brings three new polls on the official NBA Jam website. This week, you can vote on the players you want to see make the roster for the Heat, Hawks and Suns. You can also check out Yaw and Jeremy's picks in the latest blog post.

My picks for this week: Wade, Beasley and O'Neal for the Heat (tough call, but I reckon they need at least one big); Johnson, Smith and Horford for the Hawks (another tough call with Bibby and Crawford); and Amar'e, Nash and Richardson for the Suns (assuming Amar'e doesn't get traded).

For Heats I went with Wade, Beasley & O'Neal (as you said, needed at least one big).
For Hawks I went with Smith, Johnson & Crawford (Unlike Beasley, Josh Smith has the shotblocking to cover frontcourt defense).
Finally for Suns I went with Nash, Stoudemire & Barbosa.

Good point about Smith. The Hawks' roster makes a case for 4 or 5 man rosters in the new game. I remember Tournament Edition had unlockable expanded rosters once you beat all the teams in the challenge mode, adding at least one but in some cases two additional players to select or later sub in.

Heat: D Wade, Beasley, Q Rich
Hawks: Smith, Johnson, Williams
Suns: Nash, Stoudemire, J Rich

Yep, I remember that. Although I thought it actually took away from the game as it makes most teams very balanced. When it was just 2 man teams you could have gun big-small lineups (Malone-Stockton, Daugherty-Price), you'd have defensive lineups (Grant-Pippen, Mutombo-Ellis) & some real shitty ones (whoever Bullets & other crap teams at the time had).

I think 3 players is a good compromise (Y)

Three players is definitely better than two as the original had but I like the idea of expanded rosters as featured in TE. They've mentioned secret players and other such unlockables, so perhaps they might do something similar with these polls determining the three default players who definitely make the cut.

If the new NBA Jam is good, it would be good if they had roster updates each year that you could download/buy. The original NBA Jam was great, but new characters would be nice, especially when they change teams.

Actually, that's a good point, they should allow you to be able to edit team rosters :P

even on the wii that should be possible. I mean faces are going to be a collection of ~10 faces right? That shouldnt be too hard to update.

Roster updates in between releases (presumably if it does well, they'll keep making use of the license down the road) would be great, no question.
