Everybody give me a break - NBA 2007 is terrible but it's still got much more features than 2003 and is much more playable than 2003 - are you serious 2007 is the worst ever? Live 2003 is just plain arcade mess, closest to some Extreme Jam action game for little kids, please, don't anybody try to convince me 2007 is like this. Live 2007 has many frustrating bugs but it's tweakable at least to an bearable extent. If nothing else, you can at least see lots of development done over the years when compared to 2003. I agree that 2007 should have been a lot different given the fact it's the year 2007 and not 2003, but hey, is the outcome of this poll truly objective, ain't it just that frustration from 2007 that we all still feel towards EA Sports?

So you rather play a terrible game (I think we're talkin' 'bout unpatched games)with tons of frustrating bugs than a nice unrealistc one?

Sounds like you just play games because they are realistic, not because they are fun.

Live 2000 would take it as the best Live IMO. 2005 was AMAZING once you realized you had to raise the pro-hop/drop-step sliders up from 0...

I swear if I could I'd still be playing live 2000. Music was some of the best in the series, as was the created player names. I drafted a player named Furious Jones one year... How f*cking awesome is that?

2003 could become realistic after tweaking it, but it was a lot of fun, regardless. I remember lowering primacy for all pg's to stop them from pulling a bunch of jumpers, and lowering the jump rating for all players to stop the massive amount of blocks you could get once you have the timing down. Those two things really made the game alot more playable. Dribbling between defenders legs and over their heads and swatting the hell out of dunks, layups and not to mention alleyoops. Dunking completely over people when you were fouled during the attempt. I recall it as the most fun I have ever had with an NBA Live game.

07 was a big dissapointment due to a few things that have been griped to death. PG driving and perimiter players driving happened far too often then post play, especially with lower-tier big men. The triple threat driving moves were goine, regular freestyle control almost never worked, fatigue-subs bug, crash-to-desktop bug, edit player headshape and shoe bug, no black sox during away games, primacy recalculation was flawed, simulation engine was flawed, no 29 game dynasty, lowered graphic quality on jerseys and accessories, clipping problems, no analog sensitivity for player movement.

I once had a Bill Cosby generated in an NBA Live 2001 franchise. :)

It really depends what you call fun. And of course I'm talking about patched and tweaked game, why would I not if I have the possibility to do it? So how could we patch and tweak 2003? Firstly, there were still no sliders and the game was awfuly fast. Secondly, an NBA game that has no defense whatsover and lets you produce insane offense, where you can do all types of slam dunk contest stuff right over the heads of all the defenders and, generally, just do whatever you want in the game, that doesn't sound like fun to me.
OK, I want to be NBA Live as close to real life as possible but even if it's not (which is the case of most Lives anyway) I want it to be competitive. If I can dunk on each and every possession hey, what kind of freaking fun is that? How long can such gameplay be fun to anybody? I say everybody must get bored after 1 quarter at the most. Live 2007 is at least not that stupid in this regard, that's why I don't understand how can it possibly be voted the worst ever.
Live 98 had also some miserable gameplay, similar to 2003 I believe, only that it wasn't so freaking fast. Live 2007 might then be the 3rd worst of all of them.

Live 98 had the Direct Dunk button the always worked, no matter what. I gues it was fun for me back then cause I was like 15, but in hindsight if I was playing that game I'd have broken my controller after a few games. But It was one of the fist fully 3d games that I personally owned, it has a small place in my heart.

Tweaking NBA Live 2003 involved globally modifying ratings to lower all players' speed, blocking and jumping ability. A lot of people seemed to prefer the tweaked ratings though they weren't as effective as sliders and caused problems in Franchise Mode.

Live 03 was like 5 on 5 nba street, without the alien bodies...lol.

But to this day, there isnt a better live to talk smack about. Every play was nuts in your mouth ownage. :headbang:

And the cutscenes were cool, too.

I've played 'em all

Postby JWL3 on Wed Aug 01, 2007 2:34 pm

From Live 95 back in my college days on the Super Nintendo. In the early days, each year added something new. Later on, they'd start adding new stuff and taking good features away. (bring back the in-game save feature morons)

By far, the worst of them is LIVE 07!. This is the first year that I did not play over 100 games against the computer. I used to play the ENTIRE year, at least 10 games a week against the CPU. 2007 killed my enthusiasm for the series like no other in the past year. I mean, I could live with the ghetto menus of Live 97 (Shaq on cover). And the stick figures of Live 95. (still a far cry from Lakers vs. Celtics)

By the way, outside of NBA Live, is it me or has this been the absolute worst year for PC gaming so far? Absolutely nothing worth buying has been released. No Call of Dutys, no Far Crys, etc. NADA. Or am I getting too old for this s*hit?

No, youre not going crazy. Its just a sh*t year for PC gamers. The Coming of Vista/coupled with the release of DX10, coupled with the release of 2 new GPU lines all in the span of 16 months has really slowed development. I shouldnt say slowed, but I think game developers were planning on letting the dust settle before really getting into some new, quality games. As it is now 70 percent of the PC gamers out there, myself included, dont even have the hardware to run anything cutting edge. So for the most part, they arent even missing out on anything by not releasing anything. Next year, however, I'm looking for PC gaming to really get a flood of solid titles.

It certainly doesn't look like Live 07 is going to have much competition in this one.

although the downward spiral started with 2003, its got to be 2007 for me as the worst of the plummeting NBA Live series, bar none.

Live 2004 is the best for me, gameplay-wise('coz I haven't played 2000). 07 could be the most customizable one, but gameplay-wise, you can't get any worse than that.

I voted for 07. I think this is the first Live game I played (since 2001) without finishing a season.

2003 showcased high-end textures and the patches we are all fond of. And the level of player customization is just nice (though headshapes became editable with OEdit for Live 2004).

I think i will vote for 04 for my opinion. I find 07 enjoyable. 04 is the game that i didn't play much. (I also have seen 07 voted for favorite NBA live? And finishing second?)

Well, imo, 07 has some really good "highs" which are mostly due to the amount of patching that can be done to make the game more enjoyable, which is probably what people were voting for, "07 with patches." 07 was probably one of the biggest, if not the biggest disappointment out of the box. Which is most likely why people are voting it as the worst. The community leaders had to write a letter and petition to EA and the media just for them to make a patch, which only fixed the main issues and missing cyberfaces. They could have atleast fixed the shoe bug in edit player, also.

I'd agree with that. I was surprised to see NBA Live 07 finish second on the earlier poll but the release of the official patch and all the work the community has done to mod it has increased its popularity since it was first released.

Well, it wasn't the most suspenseful poll we've held, but NBA Live 07 has been named as the least favourite instalment in the NBA Live series by voters in the NLSC Forum, taking home 64% of the vote. NBA Live 06 came in second with 11% of the vote while NBA Live 2003 finished third with 9%. Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll!

I call shenanigans! How did Live 2001 not rate a mention? That was the biggest piece of garbage, I still get angry thinking about how disappointed it made me :x

I thought it would rate higher as well. I guess 07 and 2003 are fresher in people's minds.
