That one's my options too. But as X said, Arenas should be there :(

Arenas' abscence didn't occur to me until this morning but you're right, that certainly thins out the available choices. Clearly his legal problems are going to keep him out of the game, no matter what happens at the sentencing.

You know, the thought occurs that the debut trailer featured Shaq on the Cavs. I suppose they're anticipating he'll make the cut.

On the main page I wrote:This article is actually from March 8th, however I missed posting it the first time around. In any case, for anyone who's interested and hasn't seen it yet, IGN have posted a look back at the NBA Jam series and its evolution through the years as we look ahead to the upcoming EA Sports NBA Jam. If you're new to the series you might be interested in the background of NBA Jam, if like me you're a fan of the original games then you'll probably enjoy the nostalgia. Check it out here.

Gilbert isnt in the game, DLC updates confirmed

http://kotaku.com/5503067/troubled-star ... jam-roster

NBA all-star Gilbert Arenas, whose joking pistols-at-dawn challenge to a pissed-off teammate was no laughing matter to the league, is absent from fan voting on the NBA Jam roster. EA Sports says it's not entirely because of his legal troubles.

Speaking to The Sporting News' First Cuts blog, an Electronic Arts spokesman attributed Arenas' absence to "production deadlines and Gilbert's current inactive status as a result of the suspension." However, the publisher promises it will "continue to monitor the situation" and that it has the ability to update the game through downloadable content.

That's pretty good news actually - post-release DLC support for a sports title on the Wii is unfortunately not that common. So now that EA's acknowledged such plans, one hopes we'll see other updates to NBA Jam, not just Arenas' inclusion once he gets out of the penalty box.

As to that, today Arenas was sentenced to 30 days in a halfway house and 400 hours of community service for his conviction on violating District of Columbia gun laws on Dec. 21. Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton had been in a dispute over a gambling debt, which Arenas mockingly suggested they settle by bringing guns to the team clubhouse and implying that Crittenton pick one for a duel.
Opinions are my own.

Good looking out. (Y) Good news too, if new players are added via DLC hopefully they'll be available if/when the game is ported to the XBLA/PSN.

nevermind, no DLC

http://kotaku.com/5505674/ea-sports-rev ... or-nba-jam

Last week, in explaining why the beleaguered NBA all-star Gilbert Arenas wasn't a part of voting for NBA Jam's roster, EA Sports indicated it could later add him to the game with a WiiWare update. They've backtracked on that statement.

Sporting News' First Cuts, which first reported the explanation for Arenas' absence from the voting, has now been told by EA that it can't commit to WiiWare updates for the title. Sounds like someone spoke too soon. The comment was notable because so few sports games, if any, receive post-release support over WiiWare the way they do with updates over Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

Not to rip EA Sports too hard, but it's object lesson No. 1 of why honesty is the best policy. Gilbert Arenas is suspended for the rest of the season and was recently sentenced on firearms charges for a stunt that embarrassed the league and its players. But his inactive status was only partially cited by EA Sports' original statement, and then largely as a technicality, as the reason for leaving him out of the voting. But any fan would have understood that the guy is completely radioactive, and no one selling a mass-market product would want anything to do with him right now.
Opinions are my own.

Oh well, guess Arenas (and others) will simply miss out after all. So long as they do eventually release it on XBLA, I reckon I'll still be getting it.
