Best version of NBA Live for PC

Tue Jul 22, 2008 4:20 pm

I was wondering which year of NBA live for pc is the best. I have 07 and 08. I like 07 but it gets on my nerves sometimes. In 08 I can just run past the defenders for a layup or dunk everytime. Can someone tell me if 06, 05, 04, or 03 are better?

I have heard 06 is nice. I have 07 and love it except I can't get it to work with VISTA!

06 has some great fast break logic, but can get arcadey quickly.

05 is probably the best straight out of the box, but overall it just isnt as exciting and fun as the other games imo.

04 has some great "little" things about it like the bench, partially filled crowds during dynasties, a ticker at the bottom about other dynasty games going on, dynasty cutscenes, nice menu system. But on the other hand, there is a lot of "skating" in that game.

03 is basically an arcade game, no doubt about it. But so much fun.

I'm still sticking with NBA Live 06 as far as the PC version is concerned.

if you want realistic game play choose NBA live 08 ( because of the sig shots) and If you want good moves choose NBA live 07or 06( because of the FSS moves)

Realistic gameplay and Live 08? Hah.

It's a pick between 05 and 06 for me: 05 is solid out of the box, while 06 has some flashy animations and maintains some of the good features 05 had.

06 for me. the best i like about it is that you can swipe the ball from the hands of an opponent who is going for a dunk...

For a long time, it was live 2000. Until '06 came along.

Wed Jul 23, 2008 7:23 pm

For me, its 06...i've played dynasties in 06 in my ps2 and it has alot of fun and excitement....

I must admit, 2000 was the last one that felt real PC for me. After that it was obvious that we got just ported console games. Besides that I loved the soundtrack. Out of the later, I had good runs with 05 (better gameplay IMHO)and 06 (deeper dynasty IMHO). For now, I'm done with Live and 09 doesn't seem to be the game to change that. I use to have 99 on PS1, oh, good times. Damn, I'd like to play '99 and 2000 just for the memories. To bad I have no clue of their whereabouts. I'd pick them up for sure, if some place had them cheap.

Don't listen to the noobs. Listen to the guys that have been playing for awhile. Don't get 07 or 08. 2003 is arcade style If you like that. I still play 2000 one reason being the franchise mode is not complicated or strung out. I wish they would put a simple dynasty mode in the new ones for people that don't care for the annoying pda, scouting and all that.

Amazon or ebay.

in 06 at least I put the PDA to silent and never scout, I've never been fired for it so unless you are annoyed by the blinking icon then I guess 06 is pretty simplistic.

But if you don't scout you have no idea what the players are like when the draft comes along.

If you have 00 or 03's franchise mode with real money and trading draft picks it would be perfect.

That is what the players dbf is for

But Jao, that just takes the fun out of the game. Even though I do it myself. :D
Anyway, for me it would have to be Live 2005. Because it's probably the best Live game where you won't need patches to make it better. Right outta the box like many have said already. Also for the fact, dynasty mode was much more complicated since you had to use points to make the staff do your bidding. Oh, and the PDA would get upgraded as a promotion when you're doing a good job.

Wait. You can be fired by not scouting in 06 dynasty mode? Dont know that. 03 im my opinion would be the best Live I have in my PC. The beach court makes up for it

You can be fired if your GM rating gets too low, though as long as you're winning and training your players you should be able to keep a positive GM rating.

Tue Jul 29, 2008 4:50 am

ooooh tough decision, i'd have to go with live 03............

i never got fired ever, even when i got those "Why don't you read the mail I send you messages" from the owner. I never did scout either.

Tue Jul 29, 2008 10:25 am

I didn't say you'll get fired if you don't scout, I said you can be fired if your GM rating gets too low. Obviously, yours didn't. :)

Also, please don't double post like; you can edit your previous post if you'd like to add anything. Thanks.

I like to try to get two assistants. But do they really help the players?

Tue Jul 29, 2008 2:03 pm

If they both have decent ratings, different strengths and you have them focus on a few players throughout the season it can be worthwhile.
