06, 07 or 08?

Postby doug. on Tue Jun 17, 2008 12:15 am

I've already have NBA Live 08 but I saw a lot of ppl saying 06 and/or 07 are better.
So, which of them you think its better and why? (for PC)
My preference is for realistic game-play.

thx

Simulation was definitely better in previous versions.

And about the game-play? I dont like dynasty mode very much, so sim games dont make much difference for me :P

Well, it's been awhile since I've played the other versions, but without any patches; NBA Live 2008 isn't very good as far as gameplay goes either.

06 is more fun, 07 to me is weird because of the split dunk and layup buttons but is better in the way that you can switch FSS types in game
Opinions are my own.

06 has the most solid gameplay out of the box.

My favourite is NBA Live 06.
But every year I move on to the newest one. ;)

I've usually migrated to the latest release each year but I haven't been able to do that with the PC version the last couple of years. Instead, I find myself going back to 06.

Hi guys,

My last version of NBA Live was 2003 and i used to patch it but i want to get a newer version to download some Euroleague or FIBA mods and make my own mods.

Can anyone tell me which of the last few games is the best to get for:-

1. Gameplay and graphics
2. Ability to create mods and patches.

I currently mod Rugby 08, and i just wondered how do the games work now, do you have a 'drop-in' system for edited files into a directory like R08, or do you have to do it all manually?

I'd like to join some projects perhaps that are running, but have no idea which one is best or what one to choose.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers

Every NBA Live from 2003 onwards has allowed us to do that. In answer to your other questions, NBA Live 06 remains my recommendation as NBA Live 07 and 08 have their own issues which we cannot fix with unofficial add-ons.

nba live 06 was the most sold without patches
live 08 was the most solid with 10+ patches
live 07 is the most solid in 3 patches only

I have spoken to Andrew and Conr4d and i decided to join the NBA PC project as i will be getting a copy of 06 very soon.

The drop-in system is much better and i can use that easily. I would specialise in jersey making and graphics, as long as i have the means to know how. Primarily, i'd work on Euro and FIBA jerseys as they really do need some love, i haven't seen many around here and now that the other seems to have shutdown, it will need a new update for NTeams and EuroLeague, maybe i can even do an ACB.. these patches would be very popular.

I look forward getting the game modding '06.
