It's for ps1 or pc and I'm not sure where you can download 2001. Also, don't talk about crack or request crack here in NLSC because it's illegal.

Haha man...the first live I started patching was this slap happy suck fest called nba live 2001. I remember the "gripes" board we had just for the game with the tons of fucking bitching...lol. Tha was about 7 years ago...and they were good times. How quickly we forget how shitty this game was....got a link to the board Andrew?

"heee puuuuuts up the shot...TO GRANT...to o'neal...BACK TO GRANT!!!!"

Gotta love o'neal's free throw pre-animation ...he really thought he was gonna make it.

Looks like they've finalled axed the old Forum, though fortunately I was able to back it all up last year. For anyone who wasn't around, back then we actually had to have a seperate Gripes section because no one who wanted to try and enjoy the game could discuss it without being called an "EA asskisser". Those sections are redundant these days though; if nothing else, topics like that don't need their own section since the individual General sections are as good a place as any to comment on the quality of any given game in the series.

WoW man the movement is so smooth! The cut scence of live 08 on NG version is so much worst than this... I rent the game and played a day and return it the next day lol! I just hope they build everything from scratch again....

The good old times... NBA Live 2001... It had a big bug that would bug you Andrew, and you keep on forgetting that. It was in the "then called" franchise mode... The player game productivity stayed the same through the years even with his skills changing drastically over the years. Like Shaq with Overall 65 would still score 30 points and 14 rebounds or something like that.

That really bugged me. Especially when a 65 overall guy developed into a 85 overall guy and he would still score 7 points in a game with long minutes and you couldn't miss with the guy when you were playing him...

But Live 2001 was still made for the PC! This is a point that has to be brought up as often as possible. The Live 2000 was the last one made completely for PC platform and it was ported to the consoles of the time. The team was changed during 2001 production and our Tim got the EA job as the Live producer at that time (Tim Tschriner (or what ever that last name is typed) used to manage these boards before Andrew). The team changed from 2002 on so that they would make the game first and fore-most for the consoles and PC would get a port. And this to me is the single biggest reason why NBA Live hasn't reached that level of stability and PC friendliness since.

Sure the consoles have more kick for a short period of time, but the PC with its ever evolving hardware does catch up and go past the consoles in time... Then we get XBOX 720 and PS4 etc. But the point is that currently we get a game for the PC that we could run with a PC that is 5-6 years old since its a port from PS2 & XBOX version of the game. Atleast you should be able to since there's not much done for the PC version any longer.

I used to love NBA Live games... I used to wait excitedly the release, but its all gone down the drain these days... The game is just horrible and they seem to keep finding newer and better ways of making it horrible year in and year out... When we (as in PC players) get the XB360 or PS3 version ported to the PC, then we will actually see what has been done to the game... But on PC Live 2004-2008 sees very little difference in the game. At least nothing that would warrant an actual new game.

NBA Live 2001 and prior was a quality game for the PC at that time. They had their hickups, but the game evolved each time around. The game seems really stagnant in the latest releases and I really haven't found the energy to really play the newest games. Which is sad since I love the game of Basketball and I used to be hooked on these games...

The game needs a plot transplant at this time...

Actually, I remember it quite well; I simply didn't mention it in this thread. That was the major downfall with having development/"base" stats in players.dbf, though in terms of producing realistic stats they could usually achieve that for a few years compared to the current ratings-to-stats system. However, as you said it didn't account for player development and decline so the further you progressed in Franchise Mode the more unrealistic the stats became for declining players, especially if they weren't displaced in the starting lineup.

I certainly haven't forgotten the Dstats/Ratings debate though. Ideally, the sim engine should be somewhere in the middle of those extremes: producing true to life statistics while accounting for player decline.

Yep very nice game indeed.. It will be really nice to see all this features included in 09.. But the most importan thing for me is the Gameplay and Sig shots and GTMs.. That make the game real and i love to play it becuse of that.. Hope to see many new Gtms and sigshots (and a new freethrow rituals) in 09 (Y) (Y)
