are you talking about roster updates? The roster downloads must be accessed through the online>My NBA Live>Online Settings>Download Rosters

if you're talking about the updates to make the 5 on 5 online team play available, you get prompted to do that automatically.

If you mean the downloadable updates that people have been submitting to our Downloads section, the author of these rosters provided some instructions:

To transfer the rosters to the game, unzip this file to your storage media and then copy or move it to your storage device. Insert the storage device into your Playstation 3 console. In the Game Menu, click on Saved Data Utility and select your storage device. Copy the rosters to your console. You can then load the rosters from within NBA Live 08, they should appear in the Load Menu as ROSTERS1.

I tried doing that, but when I went to saved data and then USB it says their is nothing on there, am I doing something wrong? How are you supposed to unzip it?

You need to unzip the file with Winzip. If you just copy the .zip file, the PS3 won't recognise it as a valid save file. The save file is compressed within the .zip file, so you must use Winzip to extract it and then copy it.
