New graphics engine for Live 08?

Postby Patr1ck on Sun Mar 04, 2007 6:10 pm

It has been a trend for EA Sports to update its graphics engine for the NBA Live series every few years, while making improvements in the engine each year. I think we have had the same graphic engine for the last 3 years. So, do you think EA Sports will update the graphics engine this year? What graphic technologies would you like to see implemented?

Personally, I think they are long overdue for using normal maps and bumpmaps on player models. Just adding normal maps would increase the visual quality of the players, jerseys, and the ball by alot.

Well, interesting topic.
I dunno how to say, but I'd like to have the X-Box that kinda grapical feeling on PC. I also agree with what Pdub's said~

... When you create a player with a ‘THICK’ build and place him on either the Bobcats or Thunder, the game will crash when entering the game.

That being said, we only have 5 existing players in the league who are ‘THICK’ builds:

Glen Davis
Shaquille O’Neal
Eddy Curry
Jerome James
Michael Sweetney

Workaround: Don’t put a ‘THICK’ build created player OR one of the above players on the Bobcats or Thunder and the game won’t crash.

Well, if I'm right, from Live 2005 graphic engin is the same till 07. So it would be nice to see a new engine... Would be interesting.

I hope they use 04's graphic engine, because the muscles were accurate and not skinny as opposed to this year's. Plus Live 04 was a great game

Well I think 2004's engine gives player models so much muscle. I'd just wish that if EA changes the graphics engine, make the jerseys 2x (or 4x if darn possible) and make them look like jerseys and not like armor.

I would prefer they use an UNREAL3-like engine, I don't care the high spec it required, add HDR, real time calculation of offense and defense (too much "rule" in 07, the AI is not very good although it does improved every year)

update the crossover, block animation, no "matrix" like animation, fix the first-step animation bug....etc........

I really want 08 have better jersey(not armor as lean said), real facial expression(not cartoonish faical expression), re-calculate the body size with related head size

widescreen support and many others

hope i do not have to do any aiact, gamefix work in 08 because the bad plays in 07

patchers

Enhanced graphics would be very nice, although gameplay, AI, player movement and physics improvement would be much better.

^^ Yeah, I definately agree with that. . .if they can make the game simple and have tons of animation that you can get offbasic moves, ths game could be wicked
