I got information from a good source that EA will not be making NCAA Basketball '11. I have a friend who works in licensing for a Big 12 school. He received a memo from CLC saying EA was pulling the plug on NCAA BBall '11, but they might consider making '12 and make the game every other year (which I found interesting). Despite not making the game, EA still has to pay the schools a guarantee royalty check because of the exclusivity contract.

I never got into the EA Sports NCAA BBall games. I don't think they were better than College Hoops 2K8, but this is sad for those people that liked getting a new college basketball game each year. It makes me mad that 2K got pushed out b/c of the exclusivity thing. Now we have nothing to look forward to next fall.

Too bad. If this is actually true they should really spend some dough on a patch for NCAA 10 to fix the freezing issues.

I also wonder if the man-power behind NCAA will be used to overhaul NBA Live 11 at all.

Bad news for anyone interested in a college basketball game, I can't really miss what I never had but I would've liked the opportunity. From what I've heard though, I'd agree that time spent patching issues in NCAA Basketball 10 would be a good idea; particularly if they're looking at producing NCAA Basketball 12. Some extra hands on NBA Live 11 probably wouldn't go astray either.

Unlike the news about CH2k8 that devastated me (relative speaking of course), if it is true then this comes as no surprise & doesn't disappoint me one bit. I think EA thought all the CH2k8 players would jump over & buy their game to make it economically viable. Unfortunately they didn't add the necessary depth that CH2k8 players required & expected to make the switch. I am still playing CH2k8 with updated rosters from OS, about to start up a new legacy with Penn State & probably will play it into the foreseeable future

It really does amaze me how awesome NFL 2k5 and CH 2k8 are and how they can still be compared to current day games and win...

A current roster doesn't make a game good. If I see CH2K8 used, I'll pick it up.

The game is by no means perfect & the gameplay engine is a bit dated now, but as a representation of the college game & the sheer depth of legacy mode (& recruiting), the game really shines. The fact 2k still have 2k Share still working for it and the roster work over at OS just adds to it all.

EDIT: Speaking of which, where has my feature article gone? I can't see it anywhere. I figured it would stay in the Features section & be easy to find in Features Archive once new features are written (which they haven't been).

It's been moved to the Archives. The current news script we're using stops displaying archived news posts once they're a couple of months out of date. It's still in the database though and accessible via the same link.

Looks like we have our confirmation, with the possibility of an NCAA Basketball 12 in 2011.

And further confirmation:

As mentioned in this post on Tuesday, NCAA Basketball 11 does not appear amongst the future titles listed in EA's 2010 fiscal year third quarter report. GameInformer.com has posted confirmation from EA Sports that there is no NCAA Basketball title in development for the 2011 season and that the future of the series is currently under review. It remains to be seen whether this will mean the series will return with NCAA Basketball 12 as previously rumoured or if the plug will be pulled permanently on the series.
