I understand that every game has certain flaws that a gamer can exploit but i am so sick of playing online with people who only use these certain unreal moves throughout an entire game. I mean ok yes if u pick the cavs you can take baseline every F*****g time and score with lebron but how is that fun. It's like hey im gonna impound the ball pass to a sprinting lebron and use the baseline as my 6th man and either dunk it on ur a*s or make some sportscenter type layup. And even when u position yourself for a charge 75% of the time he'll make the shot. The thing is you can play this game without the garbage moves and actually fill like your playing basketball and not nba jam. i fill better now.

Judging by the annual Wishlist submissions, I'd say a lot of people would prefer to play the game as realistically as possible and I'd certainly count myself among those people. Of course, when the CPU gets a bit too aggressive in keeping the game competitive to the point of cheating or someone online abuses cheesy moves, sometimes you have to resort to those tactics to even the playing field. It certainly would be preferable if you didn't have to do that though.

I always have thats a lot of the reason i had like a .200 winning percentage in leagues, i couldnt bring myself to cheese it up regardless of how the other person played. I try hard to do it in my franchise mode but its hard not to cheese it up when you got a chance to win down the stretch. Its a hard choice between dignity and desire to win.

Dignity in playing video games? Now that's something new.

If your aim is to play a realistic game, you definitely have to change your approach when playing online. It's a lot easier to do in Dynasty Mode though as you noted sometimes you have to get a bit cheesy to counteract some of the things the CPU does on the harder difficulty levels, but success online seems to demand a far different approach.

I made Carmelo Anthony average 56 points a game in Live '04. I <3'ed the prohop.

No question, the pro hop was deadly in NBA Live 2004. For a change of pace, I had KG go off for 72 points in one game in my Dynasty.

The pro-hop was a great cheese move. That's why it turned me off in using that move at all even in the subsequent Lives when someone used it against me repeatedly.
The only time I used that move again is in 2K9 (hop step).

I haven't used it as much since NBA Live 2004 either. At least with offline play, the sliders can be altered to reduce the cheesiness.

i don't know if it was a pro-hop so much as a jump from the 3pt line to the middle of the lane...
and personally, whenever i play nba live against friends i play hardcore defense and use the entire shot clock -- pisses them off and converts to wins for me. i love it.
