So, as many have or have not noticed, I have basically done jack shit for patching since the initial release of Live 08 on PC. Yea I released some crap for 2k9, but that doesn't really count. For the last year and a half, I have been thinking up of all these damn good ideas, all of which I can do myself, but never follow through with any of them due to issues I have with that game.
A small list includes
- Fully decked out Street mod
All Pro Football esk mod (this one actually got a thread!)
Combining D-league, Euroleague, National, NBA, NCAA, ABA teams into one roster.
Exporting NCAA seniors to NBA dynasty drafts. (one roster to another)
Just updating 04, 05, 06 (PC mod), 07, 08
Men's League (all generic shitty players) Mod
and "Story" mods, using custom Season saves similar to my Midnight Ballers mod that was a part of Street 07.
I can edit player models in 2005+ (thanks to Pdub), I can make multiple courts in 1 "environment" (a la Street: Homecourt), I can have player specific home/away jerseys, I can make outfits unlockable with those unused NBA Task Points, I can basically do whatever the hell I want with these games.
Yet I don't.
I come up with little freakin nags for each game that ruins it for me.
- 04 doesnt have a 30 team dynasty and really overactive player force fields.
05 is good, I could do a lot with it. Especially with it allowing me to use 04-06 or March Madness animations. But it is almost too outdated for me to deal with.
06 was the choice for the PC mod for a reason, but the FSS really holds me back from going nuts on it.
07 pisses me off but I love the X-factor aspect.
08 is the best overall, especially with player specific moves and stadium specific sounds. But it has that amazing lack of transition CPU Defense and sim engine.
2k9, well, I cant edit the shapes of stadiums, so, no fun for me there with patching.
Time is also an issue, I work the 40 hours a week, and I spend a lot of time with my fiance. When I do get video game time, I usually disappear to my basement and play Rockband or Halo.
What I worry about is that I have immaturely moved on from patching. Yet when I have free-time at work (which is also pretty minimum) I usually sketch out court ideas and rosters/league ideas. Yet they obviously go nowhere.
So, what do you guys think? Should I make an attempt at 2005? Should I finally accept 08 into my life as god? Should I STFU and play some RB/Halo? Should I play 09 on the 360 and get excited for 10 when we get info in the coming weeks and just wait it out?
I just feel shitty since I know so much about these games but have absolutely no interest in creating mods or even a tutorial right now.
So help senors
