it's done by hex editing the exe

you gotta find the current default teams in the hex, edit them to the lakers and magic without changing the file size and that should work
Opinions are my own.

Of course, distribution is a problem since redistributing the .exe files is against the rules. What we need is a utility like the old Patcher tool for NBA Live 95/96, which allowed us to create and apply patch files with modified .exe data.

Here's how it works:

To make a Patch, simply type:

PATCHER OldFile NewFile PatchFile

where - OldFile is the original file, for example NBA96.EXE,
- NewFile is the changed file, for example 95-96.EXE and
- PatchFile is the name of the Patch file you want to
create, for example 95-96.PAT

Please note that both OldFile and NewFile must be of the exact
same lenght.

To apply a Patch, simply type:

PATCHER OldFile PatchFile

where - OldFile is the original file, for example NBA96.EXE and
- PatchFile is the name of the file that contains the
patch data.

It's from the NBA Live 95/96 era as I said, so this is all at the DOS prompt.

Well, what we used to do was have two .exe files; the original, and a modified one (usually one that had an updated year for the stats screen, for example). The command PATCHER NBA 96.EXE 95-96.EXE 95-96.PAT (for example) would create a .pat file called 95-96.pat which would contain the data from the modified 95-96.EXE. Once you've got the .pat file, you can apply it using the second command (eg PATCHER NBA96.EXE 95-96.PAT).

So basically what we'd be doing here would be having the original NBA Live 07 .exe file, a copy of it that we'd modify to change the default times, then if we could get Patcher to work we'd create a .pat file which could then be distributed and applied to an .exe file as necessary. With batch files, there'd be no need for the end user to enter worry about enter the right commands. Of course, it remains to be seen whether we could still use that tool.

EDIT: Tested it out, it doesn't work.
