Postby JaoSming on Tue Nov 28, 2006 8:32 am

I dont get it either

i got
AMD 64 3000+ 1.81 ghz,
512 RAM,
256mb x800 GT

I run every other Live at 60+ and Live 07 caps me at 30 (I was at 15-20 before my patch)

Is your x800 an AGP card or PCI-X? If it is an AGP card, try looking at the AGP Aperture in your BIOS. Sometimes changing it can increase your frame rate, but its cpu-to-cpu whether you should increase or decrease it. I have mine at half of my RAM, so its at 512.

Do you have fastwrites on? Because your not supposed to with x800's.

Have you tried using modified ATI drivers, like Omega's? I stick to those for some reason.

So if you put all your video card settings to "performance" or low, and all your detail settings in-game to their minimum setting, what kind of fps do you get then?

15-20 FPS before that patch? That doesn't sound right.

I don't think they make Socket 939 mobos that use AGP, but I'm probably wrong. If I am, I second what Pdub said. Otherwise make sure V-Sync is off both in the game and in the driver control panel, unless you get bad tearing.

I played a game earlier and had 70-80 FPS (wouldn't go above 80 with V-Sync off, don't know why), without the midcourt slowdowns. It only happens some of the time, and I run a horrifically well-optimized system. I did turn off Gamma Correction Anti-Aliasing in the NVIDIA control panel, which ATI cards do by default, and that may have done it.

Anyway, :shake: to console ports.

Wrong indeed, I have a socket 939 with an X850XT AGP.

Weird, sounds like most other games that have a fps cap in their .ini, but I don't think that kind of stuff exists in Live...
Like Pdub said, increasing the aperture size in the BIOS can help sometimes, and disabling AGP fast writes definitely helps most of the time. Other than that, disabling vsync is a must to increase fps, and you might wanna check your virtual memory too.
One test you can do is play at different resolutions (but with the same settings) and see if you get around the same fps. If so, your CPU is limiting your performance.

no matter the resolution 800x600 - 1600-1200 i get the same fps

bench players on low or medium gets me to ~30

no difference between vsync on or off

turning down the other options helps a little bit, but honestly i wont play this game if i cant play max (except bench players)

He has a better CPU than mine, so if any hardware is the bottleneck its either the RAM(either the amount, the speed or both), or the motherboard

That's really weird. Do you have really old drivers for your card or something? Any random processes running in the background? Must be something strange as far as I can tell. Also try defragmenting your drive.

I just told pdub online but ive been playing bf2 on medium settings ~80 fps

my RAM is Kingston DDR 512MB PC3200 HYPERX

Just updated (well reupdated) drivers today, no random unneeded processes, and ive been defragging.

PS I just popped in the NBA Live DVD (cause i was playing bf2 earlier) and the thing prompted me to install.....i said no, then i get a quick little progress bar and I said "no fucking way" ....yah NBA Live 07 just uninstalled...luckily I keep everything in the sgsm so i dont think i lost much of anything

Jao is there anyway you know how I can get my NBA to set itself to optimum settings for Display?

When I was using Jimmy's update I was getting high resolution on everything and the game played a treat, now I've used his latest rosters and the game comes through very grainy and is not that great anymore, any way you canhelp me?

hey guys,

is there any way on how we could remove reflections casted by players? I guess FPS would be better if i only the stadium would cast reflections. player reflections aren't that visible anyway.

nah, it is possible to get rid of the stadium relections and keep player reflections but it wouldnt give that much of a boost

Hey Jao are you going to make another release of your lighting patch or should we consider the one already released final?

the original file can be found on your DVD in one of the compressed zips

For right now that is the final, I'd like to move on from it to other projects.

Testers Needed
Have you noticed that the frame rate in 07 is lower than 06 and 2005? Notice how the game kinda gets choppy and forces you to play on lower detail settings than you used to in 06? I may have found a solution. PM me if you want to help me test a fix for this.

You need:
~to understand where the sgsm folder is (because thats where these filesgo)
~Fraps, or some other way of figuring out your frames per second
~and a computer that allows you to play with player detail on max

looking forward to hearing from some people to see if this works.

Will you teach me how to figure out the frame rates of my Game, cause I want to try your frame rate patch, to see if there is a difference

bumpage for the new preview,

since the 2d crowd wasnt behaving I thought I'd make the 3D crowd blend in better. Kind of gives the new "spotlight" look some of the arenas are having now.
