There used to be, I don't think it's been used since NBA Live 2002 though.

i only remember force shoot/dunk from the past nba lives in PS.

That's the one. It was labelled Direct Shoot in at least one of the games between NBA Live 98 and 2002.

If I recall on NBA Live 2000 Direct Shoot was where you controlled what shot you wanted to do like if you wanted to a layup instead of a dunk then you press something like L1+Sqaure or a Hook Shot then you held L1+Triangle

Direct Shoot is is kind of like the Direct Pass button. You hold the Direct Shoot and either press Shoot for a forced dunk or press Pass for a forced lay-up. Since it's forced, it has a lesser chance of going in unless the player has a high dunk rating (for a forced dunk). It's no longer needed since the Shoot and Dunk/Lay-up button is now separate, making the user force either shot (if one wants to) if the need arises.
