Andrew Great Sliders. i had the most fun playing live so far this yr. the game was smooth and the computer actually ran plays more then with the default sliders and FG% are good from what i can tell so far. 8-)

Am using playmakers sliders, I only control 1 player on the team and using the Bulls I use Gordon. We've no inside presence and in the last game vs lowly Atlanta they took 29 free throws in a game on 5 min quarters.

Too many here. I took 6 I think.

Have lowered the foul sliders. When they're even I win my fair share.

- too many turnovers.

that's my impression....by the way i like this sliders for its quite realistic stats...

I have found that most of those problems can be with the same solution: become better at playing the game. For example:

- high FG% especially opponent team;
learn to stick on your man better and to contest all jump shots, its all about timing there
- few in-air collision fouls, in consequence there are few FT;
learn how to draw fouls. I have worked on it, and can get to the lin 12-14 times a game with some guys.
- generally few fouls;
as I said before, learn to draw fouls, and maybe play more aggressive defense, which will probably raise foul levels, and help decrease the opponent FG%
- opponent teams rules on offensive reb.;
This is as simple as learning to box out using the analog stick, and timing your jump. It really helps if you dont try to block every shot, because you get caught out of position. Also, it is alomst impossible to grab a rebound when you are underneat the cylindar.
- too many turnovers.
Take better care of the ball. Sounds like you need to be a little more aggressive on defense, and a little more conservative on offense.

tnx a lot for your suggest, as i said i like playmaker's sliders for its realistic stats, i didn't try andrew's sliders yet but i think they're good too because i've tried his sliders every year and everytime got the game so much better than other tweaks around. i'm so pleased of seeing guys working to improve nba game experience. thank you so much!!!

That's what they're designed for. They can only go so far though; for example, if you run and gun you're going to get high scores no matter what.

There's no need to double post.

I don't claim my sliders will work perfectly for absolutely everybody. If your sliders work out better for you and for others, great.

Andrew, very good sliders. Game became very realistic with them, at least I can play 12 min quarters w/o going into 120's or 130's!

pls post your boxscores, I noticed that your long range shooting is quit low, did you made a reasonable 3's in that setting like in real nba game,,
i think it should be at least 39 to 40 to hit a reasonable 3s to make the game real challenging and realistic to the fact that the real ballgames hit in that range quietly good speciallythis season where 3s is a major weapon to any team, i think most of the team try to use this weapon to their advantage,,

Glad to hear it. :) I am going to try reducing the short range and mid range sliders a little more though, a couple of people have suggested that.

yes.But to have less effort, use simulation sliders for your own sliders, then use the action sliders to use other people sliders. Then you can select whether the simulation or the action slider. If your not satisfy about others sliders, then restore your action sliders to deffault. You can do this in the game.

And ow.I change the medium range to 34 the long range% to 34 and the short range to 33,both user and CPU.

In the sliders I can still hit reasonable 3's.If you have an open three it has a big possiblity to shot. You must also be aware of the three point rating of the player.Like Micheal Redd. When Redd shot a 3,His shot will have more % than Ben Wallace.
The point is, to be able to make 3 pointers on my sliders, the player must be open(But other good 3 point shooter like Redd,Billups,Rip,Miller, can hit three even theres a hand on there faces)and the player must have a good rating,Just like the NBA.I also make it low to minimize the shooters superstar ability effectiveness.(sometimes the 3 point shot miss even if the player use the shooter superstar ability .Also you must have the touch when you press thee shooting button.

i did tried out aNDREW'S sliders for a few games, i wonder how come all the players can dribble without losing the ball, i mean chris webber's crossover is exact same as ai's thats weird, also, his sliders didn't make the computer using plays unlike the playmakers sliders do, i was using playmaker's sliders for my first sixers dynasty n my team maybe is a little bit strong so my record wwas like 14-4, no fun, i thought i could use andrew's but is not fitting me, so i guess i will need to lower playmaker's sliders for user's shooting, blking, n stealing for my newer dynasty...

1. Sliders do not in any way affect the dribbling moves players perform. That is handled by the dribbling rating. The Freestyle slider dictates how effective moves are at shaking defenders but not how often players can maintain possession when attempting a more difficult crossover.

2. No sliders make the CPU run plays. Altered playbooks will.

Look, if Playmakers' sliders work for you, fantastic. It's great that someone has been able to post a set of sliders that you enjoy and I definitely don't mean to knock Playmakers because his sliders are great and he does some great work for NBA Live and other titles. But your constant promotion of his sliders and denouncing of others is getting a bit much. Please be a little more respectful of fellow members of the community. Thank you.

Amare Stoudemire on LeBron James:
“30 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists is unbelievable and scary for a kid who's 21 years old and is already one of the MVP candidates in the L. He can be the next Jordan with some passing skill of a Magic Johnson. He can also improve his shooting like Larry Bird.”

Playmakers and Heiks are both popular, a few people have posted and said mine have worked well for them. You'll probably want to try a few out and might have to make some tweaks of your own before you get the results you want.

I've been using Andrew's sliders since he first released them. I enjoyed his LIVE 2005 sliders as well. I find his sliders to be by far the most realistic. Really, this can be the same case for any of you, but you can't just run-and-gun like Andrew said before. Run down the shot clock, pass the ball around, and execute a play with around 10 seconds to go on the shot clock. I love his sliders and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants realistic statistics. Oh yeah, I have a blast with Andrew's sliders as well. Good stuff.

Hi,

I 2nd what Andrew said, sliders are very different from person to person based on how you play. They are also very different depending on which team you use so let's not trash anyones sliders.

My other point, I'm using Playmakers sliders but have made a few tweaks, slowed game speed, reduced steal/interception on both parts and in-air collision fouls.

Basically the cpu sliders and human are the same for each skill set. I wanted it even steven to see how things go.

However on all star level I've won 3 exhibition games in a row now I'm getting to grips with it.

Could you answer a few questions, (Andrew I'd appreciate your input on the first one).

1. Does the cpu team play tougher in a season than an exhibition? I've not started a season yet but in 2005 it felt like exhibition games were easier. I won most exhibition games but once I got into a season was 13-13 before I pushed up from .500

2. (If this is allowed) would people please list the following -

a. Whose sliders you use
b. Roughly what % of games you win
c. The average rating of the team you use, i.e. I'm always the Bulls who are rated at 79.
d. what difficulty level you are on.

mine would be

a. Playmakers (tweaked slightly)
b. 50% (played 10 games won 5 including last 3)
c. Bulls 79
d. Allstar

This would help. Also I may go back to the original Playmaker sliders, what win % are you guys on who use his exact sliders on All-Star?

I want to start a season but want it tough and realistic. Last year I used Andrews, started the season 13-13 (on 82 game) before winning 36 of my last 42 with the Bulls. It became too easy as I got good. I don't want to start it tough going 10-20 if I'm going to find all the nuances of the game and end up 57-25 (that would be a 47-5 run).

Realism is key (sorry for long post).

1. I reckon the CPU does step it up in Season/Dynasty Mode, though I'm not sure if just my imagination. They do seem to get more aggressive when you go on a long winning streak. It seems to start getting harder once you've won five straight. The comeback logic becomes pretty nasty at times to make the game more challenging, which is good on the one hand but unfortunately does forego realism.

2.

a) My own (v1.0)
b) 62% in my current Dynasty (23-14)
c) Bulls (80)
d) Superstar

I think the key is to make some further tweaks on top of the realistic slider settings to tilt it more in the CPU's favour if and when it starts getting a bit easy. You might also want to try Superstar difficulty. With the right sliders it actually feels a bit more realistic than All-Star and is much more challenging.

Thanks Andrew, very useful.

I've only tried one game on superstar and at end of quarter 1 was 18-5 down. I was a little rushed so didn't get beyond quarter 1.

Was Bulls vs Celtics and Pierce scored their first 10. Many on breaks. I notice the cpu does break much more and more efficiently (although it's all based on one quarter ;) ).

I played over 120 games on 2005 and 10 or so on 2006 all on all-star. How long did it take you to start feeling better on superstar level?

Fantastic record with the Bulls to 23-14. Seems it's a little too easy for you.

I did begin on All-Star and moved up to Superstar, though it does seem I'm doing a little better on Superstar. I guess I'm just used to the game by now. Pretty soon I might have to tweak my sliders a bit to give the CPU a bit of an advantage and force me to really bring my A game so to speak.

Andrew, I've tried yours and I beat the Pistons 109-102. I'm using the Cavs BTW, any suggestion what to tweak? The scoring is a bit higher than i've expected, game speed is ok and not needed to be tweaked more. And I'll try Playmakers' and Heiks' too.

You could knock the short range and mid range field goal sliders down a little.

I think one problem I have on superstar level is that I choose to play on player lock rather than control all five.

Of course superstar level may be so so difficult doing this as I'm relying on 4 other players on my team to do so well.

This season I'm controlling Gordon at SG with Piatkowski or Basden backing him up depending on whether I need offence or defence. In your opinion is it going to be too difficult using realistic sliders such as yours or playmakers on superstar level based on the 4 controlled cpu plays?

Part of the reason I think I was getting so beaten by the Celtics is that by roaming to score with Gordon it was leaving Pierce and the Celts PG with a virtual 2-1 on Hinrich each time a play broke down.

If I went inside and missed and didn't have Chandler or whoever was at the 4 grabbing the ball they went n the break and if Gordon got open, shot and missed the long rebound had them on the break.

I use my sliders and Playbooks combined together. I've made minor tweaks to because all sliders need touched upon depending on the individual. I've actually used my sliders on both All-Star and Super Star Level. I posted my ranges on Super Star somewhere within this thread and they work just right for me.

I will say this again I respect all the sliders makers in this forum because they all seem to work hard in helping others get a good game of basketball. That doesn't mean it's the best or most realistic. it just means I have tons of fun using my set.

I would say try about 2-3 different sets and stick to the one that feels natural or more competitive to you.

12 minutes and Superstar difficulty. It's close till LeBron did some power moves over Tayshaun.

Andrew, I'll try to tweak the shooting sliders. And I've tried Heiks and Playmakers too.

Playmakers - Cavs 120 - 112 Heat
Heiks - Cavs - 130 - 108 Dallas

Meh, I'll guess yours are the greatest, it's more challenging.

I'm guessing all sliders will give you high scores if your playing 12 minute qtr's. I don't think Playmakers sliders were setup for that long of gameplay. But with his Playbooks and on 8-9 minutes the scores are much more realistic.

To be honest all sliders will probably need the shooting ranges adjusted regardless of who created them.

Are you setting up the plays from Playmakers playbook and then using Andrews sliders?

I also enjoy Playmakers sliders. But if your going to test other people sliders you should utilize the playbooks because that's the only way the CPU will move the ball frequently. I'm sure Playmakers playbooks will enhance anyones sliders because it forces the CPU to go to their top players and he has them really set up well.
