NBA Live 06 Sliders Discussion

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Postby Ainsley on Wed Oct 05, 2005 1:37 pm

Changed my slider a bit again. Played another game today, the final score just got over 100 points mark at 12mins quarter. I am starting to get a better feel for the game.

Here is a question/suggestion. Perhaps editing and lowering everyone Off Rebound ability in database will lower this offensive rebound problem? I am going to try lower everyone offensive rebound, test it and post some result.

i suggested this somewhere, but it would be too much work and you;ll have to upgrade all of the defensive rebounds too. And it has to be 20-ratings points orso or the effect will be minimum. So you;ll have to distract 20 from the off . rebs. and add 20 to def. rebs. too much work for me, but i'll be waiting for your results.

Oh yeah, they're the best. ;)

In all honesty, a lot of people seem to find my sliders work for them, others find they provide a good base to work from. I'd definitely recommend making further tweaks on my suggestions if you find they don't work perfectly for you. Because we all have different playing styles and skills, sliders that might work perfectly for someone may not suit another person at all.

A lot of you are waiting on Andrew to post his sliders but it seems he hasn't gotten a feel for the game yet.

It's more a case of not having the time at the moment; I've either been too busy with (or tired from) work lately, plus had a couple of other commitments.

Yes, them sliders posted b4 were kinda wack.. But hopefully 1 of them guys that have no job & no girlfriends that has nuthin but time to play this game allday woulf figure out the proper slides for 06....

That's a typical childish adolescent online insult which I probably shouldn't respond to, but nevertheless...I do actually have a very healthy social life and a full time job, but I have grown up with video games and still enjoy them now that I'm in my early 20s, though obviously I don't quite as much time for them as I used to. But thank you for your insight and concern.

I guess no one wants to start a poll so I'm going with Shafts sliders for superstar 8 minute play. Unless a few of you know a better one? Hit me up if you do.

I've been complaining about the inside being too easy. I think with many of the sliders posted, if you need a basket, you'll get it by playing the ball to your big man.

After some discussions I came up with these, I think there's some sliders which are not so important but these are some crucial ones. I played a couple of good games with the Warriors with them. Give it a try if the game makes you mad.

GLOBAL
GAME SPEED: 45
IN-AIR COLLISION FOUL FREQUENCY: 50
(at 75, anytime you don't score at the basket, you get a foul: too easy)

USER
STEAL ABILITY: 13
INTERCEPTION ABILITY: 12
FREESTYLE EFFECTIVENESS: 50
(makes up for high CPU on-ball physical defence)
DUNK VS. LAYUP: 5
SHOOTING ACCURACY: all below 50
DUNK PERCENTAGE: 50
(playing with the Warriors I get about 5-6 dunks a game, they might as well go in)
LAYUP PERCENTAGE: 45
ADJUSTED SHOT PERCENTAGE: 33
POOR RELEASE PERCENT: 40
PRO-HOP: 0
DROP STEP: 0

CPU
STEAL ABILITY: 100
(CPU made 10 steals in 40 mins, you just take care of the ball)
INTERCEPTION ABILITY: 33
(don't put this too high, otherwise the other four guys in your team will cut every pass)
DUNK/LAYUP and SHOT BLOCK ABILITIES: 50
DUNK FREQUENCY: 20
ON-BALL PHYSICAL DEFENCE: 75
DOUBLE TEAM EFFECTIVENESS: 100
PRO-HOP: 70
DROP STEP: 70

PC for 2K6 to oust NBA Live 06

Postby celticslegend33 on Thu Oct 06, 2005 11:00 pm

Can anyone get us a copy of NBA 2K6's company and their e-mail address?

I want to e-mail them and have our own petition so they can make a PC version. I believe, from what I read in reviews, that their game is more realistic than NBA Live's.

Just think, if we have our own NBA 2K6 in our PCs every year, us PC users won't be griping about stupid bugs and gameplays as much as we are now.

It's games like NBA Live 06 that disappoint me so much.

Air, I agree with you, scoring inside is as easy as it can be, so sliders changes should be made in order to avoid this.
So I figured out this sliders and I add the main reasons of some of them, I hope all of you find them useful:

Superstar 9mins

game speed:36
free throw difficulty:65 - 75 (this is personal, depends on how good are you at shooting FTs)
boundary force field:100 (in order to decrease easy baskets by just driving in towards the basket)
injury frequency:40
fatigue effect:50
charge/block foul frequency: 100 (helping inside defense)
shoothing foul frequency: 20 (I don't want to spend the whole game ishooting FTs)
reachin foul frequency: 60 (to avoid stealing attempts from wrong angles)
in air collision foul frequency: 50 (I agree, if you increase this you'll spend your life shooting FTs, it also helps inside scoring defense)

user/cpu

steal:25/30
interception:20/20 (to avoid passing to PF or C with ease)
shot block:55/60 (don't worry, you won't get many blocks by playing this sliders)
dunk lay up block:55/60
freestyle effectiveness:40/40
dunk-lay up frequency:5/5
substitution frequency:50/50
user on ball defense assitst:70/70
offensive rebonds:0/0
defensive rebonds:100/100 (and still I guess attributes editing on players will be necessary to avoid excesive off reb)
fake out discipline:100/90
short range:33/33
medium range:37/37
longe range:35/35
dunk percentage:30/35 (your big man will still dunk on some guys, but this prevents highflyers to dunk on Shaq)
lay up percentage:30/30 (you may think it's too low, but players will miss only if well guarded)
adjusted shot percentage:30/30 (find the open guy, you wann collide inside and shoot adjusted shots, then miss as you will do in real games)
cpu adjusted shot frequency: -/30
on ball physical defense:100/100 (it prevents easy penetrations for inside shots)
poor release shot percentage:25/25 (again, find the open guy, if u r well guarded and shoot some brick don't expect it falling in very often)
double team effectiveness:60/60 (we need to force the big man to pass the rock instead of always having time to look for the dunk or layup)
pro hop:30/30
drop step:30/30

They worked really well for me, Bo Outlaw became almost as useless in offensive game as he is. By playing with sliders that were posted before here he was almost unstoppable with a dunking and layup show on each and every game.
My playing style is moving the ball and go for the inside basket, if I get doubled team or can't find my way to the basket then I pass the ball looking for the free guy beyond the arc. Inside otuside, inside outside,
Till I try this sliders it wasn't necessary to pass the ball to the shooter cos my big men were unstoppable on the inside game.
FG% in 5 games were from 38% to 57%, i guess that is fine. Try them out, they're working for me, hope they also work for you too. ;)

Yo Andrew do us all a favor and find some time to post some sliders man. I know its hard when you got a full time, a social life and a girl cause I got all three, actually I'm at work right now. Evidently though these people trust your sliders from previous use and trust sometimes becomes faithfulness and people don't won't to try new ideas when they can rely on those that they trust. I personally have never tried your sliders but as those and yourself have said they are oviously very good, so I'm trying to see if you live up to your hype. Plus I'm one of those people who need an overwhelming opinion of something before even considering it. I have that...Now I just need your Sliders.

By the way I haven't used anyones yet, But shaft you still running in number one with me, but I'm going to wait a little while on your boy Drew to see whats up...but not too long. :!:

I edited the offensive rebound ratings and realized that my players should have no bigger rating than... 5! The CPU players should really be limited to a maximum rating of 20 on offensive rebounds.

That's not hard to do but the big question as someone said is the dynasty! All CPU teams working on their offensive rebounding, by playoffs they will have every missed shot collected!

*UPDATE*
I got a lot better in the game and waswinning too easily. I have adjusted some sliders that i found they effect the game and make it more realistic for me. I still get the same type of scores that i posted aove with these sliders, because i got a little better like i mentioned before.
I should also note, that i have Golden State. I have 2 defensive stoppers, a highflyer and a scorer. So offense is easy for me since they are a good fast break team. They block a lot of shots too, so if you don't have these types of players, you should use my old sliders from this topic.

8 minutes /superstar

Game Speed: 40
Free Throw Difficulty: 50 - 70 depending on your own skillz.
Boundary Force Field: 90
Injury Frequency: 50
Fatigue Effect: 42-46.....not too high because the game won't be as realistic...example kobe can't make shots after 6 minutes of play.
Charge/Block Foul Frequency: 80 .....there are too many easy charges in this years game in online play it is pretty easy to take charges , so for online i guess it would be 90.>>>Update

Reach-in Foul Frequency: 10
In-air Collision Foul Frequency: 50

User Steal Ability: 15
User Interception Ability: 35
User Shot Block Ability: 100 >>>>i have seen just a couple of blocks on jumpers in my games played. I looked at the instant replay and I blocked the ball a couple of times and the ball went through my centers hand.
User Dunk/Lay-up Block Ability: 55-60>>>>>>UPDATE
User Freestyle Effectiveness: 40
User Dunk vs. Lay-up Frequency: 5-15 (I made a lot of lay ups when it was on 1. Then i put it on 5-10 and it was pretty more realistic. Players don't dunk from standstill all the time, just the ones thathave a higher dunk rating and the ones with good stamina. It depends if you want more dunks in the game. If you do you should use 15 -25.>>>>>>>UPDATE
User Substitution Frequency: 0.......i do my own damn subbing.

Here's what an old man is working with on Live '06. I'm playing 6 minute quarters because I prefer even number for my substitution pattern purposes and it's not too long or overly short. Also I have my Slider the same for CPU and Users.

Global Sliders

Game Speed 65(this is personal preference)
FT Difficulty 80 **
Boundary FF 0
Injury Freq. 35
Fatigue 50
Chrg/Blk Foul 50
Shooting Foul 10
Reach In Foul 10
In Air Collision 75

User/CPU Sliders

Steal Ability 30
Intercept Ability 25
Shot Block Ability 50
Dunk/Layup Ability 30
Freestlye Effectiveness 40
CPU Dunk Freq. 5**
Dunk vs. Layup Freq. 5**
Substitution Freq. 0 (CPU 50)
On Ball Defense Assist 40
Off. Rebound 10**
Def. Rebound 50
Fakeout Discipline 100
Short Range Shooting 40**
Med Range Shooting 40**
Long Range Shooting 35**
Dunk % 45
Layup % 45
Adjusted Shot % 45
On Ball Physical Defense 50 (I prefer CPU 33 but for now same)
Poor Release Shot % 35
Double Team Effect 30
Pro Hop Efect 30
Drop Step Effect 30

I'll try, but there's been a lot going on for me at the moment. I've got the weekend free so I'll see what I can do.
