"The elite ball handlers, players like MVP Steve Nash, are called Playmakers. When controlling a playmaker down the court, you have eight different passes you can throw. From going behind your back to a no-look pass to a streaking Sun, you control the type of pass you want to throw by holding down the left trigger while pressing or holding one of the face buttons."

It sounds good to me. We gonna have special moves for superstar players :) This will make each team play with their own unique style. We finally have a video clip for live 06 which looks great to me, but cannot judge on graphics since the video is in such a low definition. Enjoy it !~

Yeehaw, finaaaally Shaq and Amare will be able to throw it down! It's about time! :D

Edit: Just saw the video, that looks awesome. It's a good thing not everyone can do those moves.

Could someone upload the video for a free download? (I hate IGN.com.)

You can just stream it, or download it. The quicktime version is the one you have to register for, here's a direct download link.

Thanks for the link (y)
I'll return with my thoughts on why having Shaq doing windmills at will might not be a great thing after I post the article in the news...

Who said that there's gonna be Shaq doing windmills? Last time I checked he fell under the 'Power' department.

Imagine the thing you could do if there's a Create-A-Superstar feature. Dunker in the VC mold with passing abilities of Jason Kidd? Hardcore.

I actually think it will add realism to the game. In real life, players like Shaq/Amare and Nash do add excitement to the game. Nash does make some crazy passes. Shaq does dunk on people's heads. IMO, Live '05 was boring, absolutely nothing to spice up the gameplay. These new features sound great. The other week when I played '03, '04, and '05 all in a row, I noticed that as the series progressed, an emphasis on team play was growing, and the abilities of a team's superstar was diminishing.

This update has made me very excited about the Live series again. Perhaps Live '06 will have the flashiness of '03 meshed with the realism of '05. IMO, that would definitely be the best of both worlds.

Yeah but this makes them sound as if they're going to be unstoppable. I don't want to be able to score every single time I get the ball with someone who can dunk.

I agree with you Jae. From the sound of it, it does sound very arcade’ish too me. Even in the video it was some stuff that I'd rather not have (Pass around the head across the court, bounce pass of the floor to one self for the alley oop), but there was also stuff that I'd really like to have (posterization, players celebrating); so I don't know, maybe the good stuff weighs out the bad stuff.

Jae, I definitely understand your concerns. However, they made it sound like there would be all different kinds of superstar freestyle players, so I imagine a player like Ben Wallace would be able to stop the Shaqs and Amares with a defensive freestyle move... Hopefully.

If they impliment it like that it'll work well.

 I thought the pro hop was going to add realism to the game when it was first introduced. That one sure went well for them didn't it.

I have a feeling EA will abuse this new freestyle thing as well because each year they add something nice, it abuses the gameplay. I just hope it doesnt really get abused and players throw self alley oops in traffic all game long  I like the fact you can dunk on players too and like put your legs on their shoulders. Now I can make Tmac dunk on Bradley and put his nuts on his back  It's shaping up real nice though

That's the illest thing I ever seeeeeeeeeeen!!!! Finally, dunking on people is possible. I love that Ben Wallace dunk at the end when he spreads his legs on rasho, crotch in face and all. :D

Self oops, sick passes oh gosh, joygasm!

@ Andreas, there will be (hopefully) a different uses for different players. It probably has more to do with the dunk package than anything else. But it is EA, so I won't get my hopes too high. :P There's only so much they can do in such a short period.

It kind of reminds me when they use to have direct dunk. You could only use it to a certain extent or you would blow the dunk. I don't think they will let Shaq take one bounce and throw it down everytime.

If anything this mode is gunna make competition for us tougher.........only the true superstars in the L are gunna be able to pull this stuff off.......play a franchise with no real superstars and ur gunna have a harder time scoring inside, and u might get scored on easier on the inside against the suns or heat or spurs

I just left there and this is wait I've been waitingon. Sounds like the collision will be better too with pressing the steal continuously causes hard fouls. Great
