These are my ideas after my first 12 minute season on all-star with realistic sliders.

Better commentary: Have default statements with interchangeable stats, like, “Miller has ___ points for the quarter. Then sometimes you could add in: “Miller has ____ points and ___ assists for the quarter. The commentary on 2005 was pretty good though.

Commentary that sets up the game at the start with more topical statements.

Play diagrams. I want to run an offense but it is hard to keep track of the plays.

The music was crap but I just turned it off.

Better crowd animationswith team colours, and team at the sideline animations. Different warm up, time out and game winning animations. More variety. A big deal when a team wins the playoffs would be cool. I felt pretty ripped off after I worked my arse off to win the finals.

Press a button after doing a dunk to show off a little would be cool, as would having more freestyle control over a dunk on a fastbreak.

Tonnes more stats showing up on the screens after a basket, during timeouts.

Be able to do your subs and change plays without having to go into a pause menu in a timeout, so that the atmosphere continues. You could do this by having a button that puts your player on auto, and brings up a menu overlay as the game continues. This way the atmosphere wouldn’t be interrupted and coaching from in game would be more frantic.

More quick plays with a shift style button.

To be able to manually help your team mate off the ground after he falls down. To manually give him 5 getting back on defense or at any stage really. This would affect your team’s morale and ability to execute plays. Also giving credit for an assist to your teammates, or them giving you credit, or congratulating you on a big move or hitting a free throw. These are all small animations that would make your team feel more personable.

Lower the amount of blocks.

Up the resolution of everything on PC – especially the shoes.

Create a team. Full customization. More options for player customization.

Create a play.

Less shots hitting behind the backboard.

Less opportunity for the computer to inbounds the ball really quickly before you can find yourself on the court again.

If you have a name that is already an NBA player's name, the commentators and announcers should use it when referring to your created player.

If any of you devs read this - I want to say awesome job with the game, thanks. Mostly the gameplay IMO is awesome. More atmosphere and increase the tactical element of the game is what I hope for in 2006.

another random suggestion for 2006

Postby beaver3 on Tue May 17, 2005 6:32 am

this is really nit-picking, but it drives me crazy in 2005:

get rid of fratello's (or whoever does the color in 2006) commentary when a non-franchise player gets injured. Never, never, never in actual games will an announcer say something like "well, it isn't the team's best player that just got injured, so i'm sure the coach is thrilled!"

there are a couple routines in the video game, one is something like "the coach wasn't sure who got injured at first, i'm sure he's relieved that it wasn't one of his star players!"

another is something like,

"well, he's a nice player, but he isn't one of their key guys, so i'm sure the coach is happy."

imagine, just a few days ago when joe johnson of the suns went down. he isn't one of the three best players for the suns, he's clearly behind nash, stoudamire and marion, but he's still averaging almost 20 ppg in the playoffs and crucial for the suns with their thin bench. what if whomever was calling the game had said "well, joe johnson just smashed the orbital bone by his right eye. but mike d'antoni must be absolutely thrilled that it wasn't an important player! phew!" because that's about what would have happened in nba live 2005.

i love this game, and i love the series in general, but this little point has always driven me nuts. just like whoever omitted the player nickname option in the create-a-player option, whomever decided to insert this little gem needs a smack :)

Nitpicking... Absolutely just that...

Most of these improvements are so superficial that I would hate to see any of them in there... It just takes a lot of time to fix and I would like to see improvements in the gameplay and dynasty department 700,000 times more than adding a congratulatory animation for a made free throw...

One thing they need to get rid of is marv and mike and have kevin Harlan and doug collins do commentary. i hate when marv yells out " YES! AND THE FOUL!" when a person makes the shot on the foul. its annoying.

They can't do this, as it violates NBA license agreement stuff.

I agree, i like Doug Collins better than any other commentators out there. Besides, Mike won't be doing it, cause he's busy coaching Vancou....er... Memphis.

Add some rock into the mix of songs as well as improving the rap selection. I understand rap is more known with basketball, but there are still some rock fans playing Live. Also, scrap the basketball-related songs. It's like Madden, they used to have rap songs with lines like "Yo, I'm comin after yo' quarterback foo!" or "I'm catchin' the pass in the end zone for the touchdown!". Now Madden doesn't have that anymore, and it's MUCH improved.

Make sure that when a foul occurs and someone goes to the line for 2 shots, the subs come in after the first shot. In '05 it sometimes happens after both shots, which is incorrect.

Also, if it is possible, try to smooth the awkward sentence structures. For example, Shaq scores, and the commentator goes to say "Shaquille O'neal has 32 points" (even though they might not say that particular phrase), the name "Shaquille O'neal" sounds detached from the rest of the sentence "has 32 points" because they are recorded seperately.
