These are my ideas after my first 12 minute season on all-star with realistic sliders.
Better commentary: Have default statements with interchangeable stats, like, “Miller has ___ points for the quarter. Then sometimes you could add in: “Miller has ____ points and ___ assists for the quarter. The commentary on 2005 was pretty good though.
Commentary that sets up the game at the start with more topical statements.
Play diagrams. I want to run an offense but it is hard to keep track of the plays.
The music was crap but I just turned it off.
Better crowd animationswith team colours, and team at the sideline animations. Different warm up, time out and game winning animations. More variety. A big deal when a team wins the playoffs would be cool. I felt pretty ripped off after I worked my arse off to win the finals.
Press a button after doing a dunk to show off a little would be cool, as would having more freestyle control over a dunk on a fastbreak.
Tonnes more stats showing up on the screens after a basket, during timeouts.
Be able to do your subs and change plays without having to go into a pause menu in a timeout, so that the atmosphere continues. You could do this by having a button that puts your player on auto, and brings up a menu overlay as the game continues. This way the atmosphere wouldn’t be interrupted and coaching from in game would be more frantic.
More quick plays with a shift style button.
To be able to manually help your team mate off the ground after he falls down. To manually give him 5 getting back on defense or at any stage really. This would affect your team’s morale and ability to execute plays. Also giving credit for an assist to your teammates, or them giving you credit, or congratulating you on a big move or hitting a free throw. These are all small animations that would make your team feel more personable.
Lower the amount of blocks.
Up the resolution of everything on PC – especially the shoes.
Create a team. Full customization. More options for player customization.
Create a play.
Less shots hitting behind the backboard.
Less opportunity for the computer to inbounds the ball really quickly before you can find yourself on the court again.
If you have a name that is already an NBA player's name, the commentators and announcers should use it when referring to your created player.
If any of you devs read this - I want to say awesome job with the game, thanks. Mostly the gameplay IMO is awesome. More atmosphere and increase the tactical element of the game is what I hope for in 2006.
