v1.00 released...

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Postby Andrew on Sun Dec 11, 2005 1:04 pm

Just to follow up on that...I really do appreciate the support and most folks are understanding of the situation. I just ask for a little more patience because I wasn't really counting on working the extra day. I might have to make the roster updates a monthly thing when I can work everything out. Please bear with me, I'd rather not give up the roster before I can find someone to replace me and before I'm sure I can't do it.

It's just really difficult to find the time at the moment. What little free time I do have I've been spending with friends/family and just trying to unwind. As some of you may or may not know, I'm in front of a computer for 9 hours a day so I'm not always keen to do a lot of work on one when I get home.

exactly, i just dont think that this should be such a burden, it is just a game i guess its different if he actually enjoys doing it, but something tells me he doesnt, i find it amazing that he is still plugging along, i think it really shows some determination on his part, and i have a lot of respect for him, even though i dont even know him.

Appreciate it tongefactor. :) It's less enjoyable this year because of the extra work with all the hidden attributes and silliness with the primacy ratings but I still want to do it. It's just finding the time and energy.

Probably why I don't remember changing it. But as I said, if you want to make him an inside scorer it's easy enough.

There's a thread on giving players Freestyle Superstar abilities over in General Issues with more specific info. It's easy enough to disable FSS within Roster Management.

And if you want the rosters to be updated, you should just go on www.nba.com/transactions , and there you go. Just find the date Andrew released v1.00 and look from there. It's not that hard.

To Andrew:

Any word on when will ben release his rosters and sliders? :D
Kobe's favorite player talks about Kobe
"I think he does what he has to do," San Antonio guard Manu Ginobili said. "Of course, there's a difference between 35 and 25 shots, but he's got that ability to make every shot. Even if it's in front of two guys he jumps so high on fadeaways it doesn't matter. He's got so many resources, it's easy for him to take 35 shots. If I was his teammate, I wouldn't care."

Sorry, wrong place. This thread and section is for the NLSC update only. Ask Ben about his patch via email or the nbalive.org forums.

not sure if anybody's mentioned this before, but we may need to relook Boris Diaw's passing, offensive awareness, and even shooting ratings... call it the steve nash effect, but he's been playing gonzo this year... excellent assist #s, shooting over 50%, and generally showing himself to be almost the equivalent of what joe johnson was last year... sure he's no joe johnson, but is offensive ratings require a boost across the board.. just the facts!

Andrew, I've been working on a way to equate ratings so they are all equal according to a mix of season highs, curent season, and career average numbers... If I am able to edit my entire roster (it takes like a friggin hour to do one team), would you be interested in hearing out how it works, etc.? I am hesitant, because some guys are rated grossly low, but that's just what the numbers call for. It's completely objective, and only the extremely simple formulas determine individual category ratings, as opposed to weighing Player A v. Player B, and personal perference.

Should I push through my worries, and actually discuss this, or do you think it's better off left just on my players.dbf?

If there's interest, I'll give examples of some of the simple things I use to rate categories player to player, and explain how with the help of sliders, you can produce great statistical results, without any subjectivity.

Thanks all the same, but I prefer not to hold everybody to the same formula as I feel players are sometimes better than formulas might suggest and it doesn't always strike a good balance between the simulated stats, gameplay performance and FSS abilities.

I would be interested to hear of some examples but I'd rather stick to the method I've been using for years now. :)

No problem. (Y)

I'll send you a PM in the near future about how I calculate some of my ratings.
