Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

I think its generally agreed that Andrew does a fantastic job on the roster updates, and its definitely one of the lighlights of even getting this game.. makes the game infinitely more enjoyable... we all appreciate the work, and enjoy the results equally. Having said that, Andrew, you might want to collect some names, ascertain some volunteer's abilities, and see if maybe you could even "train" some talented folks who could carry on the mantle of doing the roster updates... obviosuly you know this is something you werent going to do forever, so this might be an opportunity for you to start transitioning this work to someone else (obviously someone who is as committed to quality, etc)... I only say this as it sounds in your tone that you're ready to give this up.. I dont want to push you out, but I think it may be in everyone's best interst to start a transition on this. I'm sure there are lots of people who'd like to learn from the "master".

I had an idea to easily solve this primacy update bug, dunno if it could be done:
1- correct all primacy ratings
2- make a backup of the DBF file
3- launch the game, make your edits, and see the primacy ratings being hardly f***ed up
4- save and leave the game, open the DBF file and its backup, copy the primacy row from your backup (with correct ratings) to your save file
I've got the feeling I'm stating something a bit too obvious

Maybe something prevents you from doing so?

To be honest I have been considering that, at the very least making it a joint effort to take care of some of the simple (yet time consuming) elements especially this year. I'd like to give it one last shot though, before turning it over completely or making it a joint effort. Obviously if I'm going to give it up for good I'd rather hand it over to someone who's in a good position to carry it on and know what they're doing with the dbfs and everything.

Basically, it's the "copying the row" step. The easiest means of doing that is copy/paste in Excel (I did it player-by-player in v1.00) and that will cause an error.

Andrew you are a really handsome man, judging from your avatar

Just in case you were being serious, that's Conan O'Brien in his avatar

just one question about the date, it is sure the deadline will be on the 11th now or it could change again?, just to know.
Tue Dec 06, 2005 1:33 pm
omg...smth bad is gonna happen =/
Tue Dec 06, 2005 2:10 pm
Why not just wait, and not ask when, but instead just wait quietly, and when it's released, it's released? All stating another date is going to do is cause more annoyance if it's not released by then...
Or am I completely wrong here?

No, it's not. As I've said numerous, numerous times, the reason I have to delay it is because I run out of time and right now, it's difficult for me to say how much free time I'll have. As it turns out, I'm probably going to have to delay it again because I've just found out that for the next few weeks, I'll be working six day weeks.
Finishing it by the 11th hinged upon the fact I have Fridays off and would be able to work on it this Friday, however that is no longer possible. So it'll be done by this weekend if I possibly can, but please understand I work long days, the next few weeks are going to be really long and I'm going to have to do my best with it. That might mean another week, or two. It's difficult to say.

about the primacy thing, just don't change for this roster. If salaries are done and some of the bugs also just change only some ratings, especially the ones we mentioned here. That would take much less time.
Tue Dec 06, 2005 2:41 pm
Uh...it's still going to take a long time to get everything done, because as I've mentioned once or twice already, I haven't had as much free time and I've found out I'll have even less time now. Also, I'd rather do the primacy otherwise I'll get heaps of posts/emails telling me I've "forgotten" about it and complaints that Dynasty Mode is screwed up.

Griffin's defense or blocking stats could increase a bit. He is having 2.13 blocks per game in 19.6 mpg. Moreover, today he had 8 blocks.
Also about Iguodala, although his blocking ability should be decreased his shooting abilities should be increased a bit. Right now he is having .528 of fg and .417 of 3-pointer
Tue Dec 06, 2005 3:35 pm
Noted. I'm also assuming you mean Eddie Griffin (and a check on NBA.com has just confirmed that). I'll be sure to look at their ratings.
Wed Dec 07, 2005 5:22 am
yep, eddie, i forgot to add his name.
Thu Dec 08, 2005 11:37 am
u should increase luther head's rating. he's really shooting well
sry if people mentioned it already

Hey, new to the threads but I have used the updates at the NBALSC for a while. I just noticed a few things.
Deron Williams needs a better dunk rating, we overall know that the guy can dunk as he showed in Illinois on that sick alley oop, and then the dunk on Ike Diogu a few weeks ago.
Boozer should be one of those downlow freestyle type guys, the way he can dunk and post up on guys, it is a shame that NBA Live didnt update his rating a bit. I mean for the sake of basketball Kwame Brown has a better rating than him.
But I just thought I would atleast point those two things out. But also, is there a way where you can edit the amount of points Boozer can put up in a game, the guy will only score a maximum 10-15 points in a game, unlike real life he can put up big numbers.

guess what? your gunna have to keep waiting....too bad for you!
hey wait, maybe andrew should just say fuck it and then you can have nothing.....how about that? No need for your comments, im sure andrew already knows that people are waiting. I really think anyone who complains about the patch being delayed should be banned.
Sun Dec 11, 2005 1:44 am
#7 leave the people to say what they want... (if they are happy...)
I'm sad to seen the patch delayed but..... what can we do?
GO ANDREW!!!!!!! We will wait until the end of time for u!!!!
Sun Dec 11, 2005 7:17 am
andrew it just doesnt seem like its getting done, of course i understand that you are really busy and all, and that you consider this a burden, not some hobby that you enjoy, instead of continuing to push the release date back, why not cancel the whole thing? i for one am waiting for this next update until i start my dynasty, so rather than get peoples hopes up with release date after release date maybe you should break the bad news
Sun Dec 11, 2005 10:27 am
omg u ...
dam if he cancel now i will die straight away.

I would've been able to finish it except that I've got to work an extra day for the next few weeks to fill in for someone who's on holidays. Sorry if I'm "getting people's hopes up" with what I'm doing. Maybe I will have to hand it over, but I'd rather not do that prematurely.

Actually with some of the comments...I'm really tempted guys, I'm really tempted. Pestering me about it doesn't help one bit. I really don't need the pressure and if some of you guys aren't willing to accept or understand that, then I don't really want to give up my free time to do the patch.
Sun Dec 11, 2005 11:10 am
give andrew a break guys, its just a game... the first patch he released is good enough. there's no way for everything to be perfect.
