Andrew, could this be true?!?! Ratings released for Live 06

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

the rating system is weird anyway and overal rating doesn't always say much. There are however a couple of weird overal ratings in there. J. Smooth is good, but 80?Iguess he has 96 for dunks and 96 for jumping and he is pretty athletic and the rest is not as low as it should be. That is why he gets an 80 instead of a say 70 to 66 what he should have. he can rebound and some other things, but he can't have a high defensive or offensive awareness as an 19 year old.

And on some other comparisons.............T-mac vs. Lebron...........lebron is definitively faster in a sprint and quicker in changing speeds than T-mac. Jumping is diferent, cause lebron jumps off 1 leg most of the time and t-mac is primary a 2 legged jumper. I'll give jumping and overal dunking to T-mac if he wasn't injured. Last season he played a lot with back problems.

Kobe vs. T-mac/lebron and anyone else........kobe is almost better in every category than all these guys. for now that is. Kobe can't pass like Lebron, though.....he can pass, but just chooses not to most of the time, tha tis why it is great to be able to control that selfish ass once in a while in video games hehehe

but looking at these ratings all teams would be around 90 or 85 overall team rating. Is a little weird to me, but okay we'll see how it goes when they are acctually matched up against eachother. i guess it will balance out eventually if peeps get the hang of the gameplay.

the screenshots also have the playbooks showing the actual moves... this is dam awesome since "utah high 23" means nothing to me..

as for the stats, being a pistons supporter, and an australian i love seeing bogut at 74, and the pistons players also jumped ALOT. good to see prince up so dam high, his dunk rating in 05 didnt reflect his true dunking ability

hope to see milicic do better as well, he is way underated... god dam larry brown never giving him a shot...

and as for josh smith being high, i rekon thats awesome too coz i want him for my pg... (he is not only an awesome dunker but steals really well... and will be cheap)

Wow T-Mac rebounds better because Yao and Mutumbo take all the rebounds and Mcgrady still get 6 and LeBron steals from the lane not the person. Also they have the same passing rating to me

damn some people just won't look at the game of basketball , just because they are fans of a certain player. I liked Doug West and Rex Chapman when i was younger, but i wouldn't try to make them better than they were.

T-mac is a better shooter, that's it........the rest of the things mentioned Lebron does better.
Why you bringing yao and mutombo into the discussion. Jordan and Pippen played with Rodman and grand and they stil managed to grab 5, 6 , 7 rebs a game. Lebron is more complete than T-mac, that's it. Not much , but stil....

Okay? What does stealing from the lane or the person have to do with how high his steal rating is in the game? Steal rating means steal rating, not stealing off man rating. Mutombo doesn't even play up to 20 MPG, and Yao is not a better rebounder than Drew Gooden. Also Juwan Howard who was starting at PF is a terrible rebounder.

The actual argument would be that Houston takes a little less shots and has lesser possesions per game, which would leave less rebound chances, but using the rebound rate system, Lebron is a better rebounder still.

The scale seems to be back to 50-99. Last year there were many players below 50. In that case, the ratings are going to be skewed a bit. Most of the ratings are based more on per 48 minute stats than per game stats, which is probably why Chandler is rated higher than Okafor, for example.

Still, EA seems to have no clue what they're doing when it comes to ratings. They seem like a bunch of fanboys who base their ratings on players recent exploits (Manu) or their past glory (Zo)

ohh well do ratings raelly matter? it's how you use the darn guy righttt? like it's just ratings..pretty sure tayshaun won't be better than billiups or rip. and people remember you can't really compare people from different posistion. i also think that these ratings are higher because just because they have superstar ability.like hmm need an example..i uno okay let's just say josh smith was slow as turtle..and in the game he has a highflyer ability...being that slow ain't gona make that superstar abilty useful so i think ea bumped up the all star..ohh btw did ea change the ratings? i don't think it's 0-99, they changed it to 50-99 right? i uno but that's hope that will clear things up?:P sorry i like typnig longg stuff:P

my example for the ratings is:

Brent barry and tony parker.........in 2005 i rarely let tony parker start when im online. I always put barry in at pointguard, because he can, steal, dunk and shoot better than parker. Parker is rated higher, though.
So the ratings don't always say much unless they are wayyyyyy wrong. then i get pissed off.

It's still 0-99......they just seemed to change the scale of the ratings, or primacy just made a low of players lower last year.....

i think they should come up with a "relative/comparative rating", which means they a single rating, when compared with any other player, will be correct.

ex. shaq strength 99 - therefore, any other player will be definitely weaker than him in terms of strength.

note: i just wonder about some ratings:

how can yao ming have a pass rating of 69 and duncan with a 50? i thought duncan has mastered the art of passing out of double teams, same applies with shaq.

how can garnett have a strength of 85 which is same as duncan. if garnett is really that quick and fast then having that strength, he'd probably averaging 50 ppg or just plain dominating every game.

i'm pretty sure lebron is really strong but at 85, he's as strong as duncan.

i think shaq still should have a 99 inside scoring.

99 is too exagerating.
