3-Way Trade!

Postby Blazers on Sun May 22, 2005 10:17 am

i just opened up an account here, but i usually visit this forum once a while, so i don't know if this one discussed earlier. anyway, i really think that the 3-way trade should be on nba live 06. if i'm right, nba live 01 had was the last series that had this and i really enjoyed it. from my personal experience in nba live 05, because of the salary cap, it is hard to trade players. personally, i think ea should put back in 06. it is just my opinion and i just want to know what you think about this!

yea that'll be great. Trading is one of the things i enjoy most about LIVE. It will be more difficult to do a 3 way trade due to the salary cap, but i think it'll be more interesting. On top of that we need to be able to trade player for cash, or future draft picks. But i think these were covered in andrew's article.

Multi-team trades would be awesome, as long as they're done right. The three team trade feature that was in NBA Live 2001 was good, but it was a little restrictive. This time around, it would be a good idea to allow the user to suggest trades between the CPU teams involved in the deal. Those teams would both have to agree to the proposed deal the same as a regular User/CPU or CPU/CPU trade.

In the last resurrection of the three way trade, it wasn't a real three way trade as you could only trade players between your team a CPU team... You couldn't offer CPU players to CPU teams in the deal. So in fact the system was that you could make two deals at the same time... But nothing more.

And if this was implemented correctly, there would have to be some sort of a salary calculator factor on the trading screen that would show green light for the deal when all sides were within salary restrictions... Also the trading block would be a useful feature so you could actually see what players a certain "third" team would be willing to trade in the trade...

The intrest bar would be difficult to change into something that would show some correct information in the trade situation.

But all these implemented, would make the game trading much more fun and a bit easier for players to use and do...

I'd like to see a few things I've stolen from other games...

 Counter Offers
Being able to press a button and getting counter offers if a team rejects the trade is usually pretty good, it's in ESPN 2K5 but it's actually better in some other sports games.

 Offer Players
It's a bit different to the trading block, they have it in Eastside Hockey Manager... you pick a team and just offer the player to that team. They give you an offer for him and you can either accept or reject. It's a bit more specific than a trading block but they're similar things.

 Enquiries
This is my favourite thing in EHM, you can pick a player (or draft pick) from another team and ask them what they want for him. They'll give you an offer (or just say piss off) and you can either accept or reject. It'd work really well if they can improve the trade AI.

All good suff Jae...

Counter offers would be the greatest... Like your trying to get that one guy from a team and they'd say that, if you switch that player to this player we want, we have a deal...

The trading game needs improvement and fast... It just needs to be much smarter.

I can't see what's stopping them, it's not really ground breaking Earth shattering stuff that we're suggesting it's just basic improvements.

It's just that every change and improvement and new stuff needs to be tested, re-tested and then tested again... Time is the problem. I don't think these changes would be too difficult to make, but the point is to get it right... So getting it right would be the problem and doing a lot of testing would be required.

Think about the crap they would have to deal with if you were offering a 34 year old 78 overall guy to the AI and he would be willing to give 84 overalled 23 year old in return??? The gripe sessions we would have on it...

Time is something that there's always too little of for the Live team and other EA Sports teams as well... That's why NBA Live 2001 had the huge franchise problem it did have and that's why a lot of other games have the problems they have... Testing takes time and man hours away from creating more stuff into the game...

I think EA should have a more open testing policy... Like say Andrew were to get an early test build and test it... He plays the game quite religiously and would certainly find the errors and faults in dynasty and gameplay... Sometimes it just seems that us end users get to run the testing and complain all over the NLSC boards. And think of the frenzy Andrew could work us into... He could hype the game up for everyone on this forum as he would most probably be hyped about the game too.

i think they should also let the computer offer more trades, because in 2005 the computer almost never offeres any trades, which sucks

i personally believe the entire trading system needs major work. i want more options during trade, more trades, and better trades. i want the ai to take into account alot more than it currently does.

I like all of those ideas, especially the one about me testing the game. I wouldn't have any problem doing that. ;)

Those are great ideas Jae, and added along with a 3-way trade feature, the game would be superb! (at least roster management would)
