White guy creation and general creation tweaks/tips?

Tue Dec 13, 2005 2:54 pm

Hey.. long time NBA Live player here ( since the original and all the way back to Lakers vs. Celtics on the Genesis =P ),

I've stuck exclusively to the PC version of NBA Live since around 96ish.

Has anyone noticed that the creation of players has gotten a lot worse in the last two revisions of the game?

I can't make a regular looking white guy to save my life now, and almost all the black player creation ( for lack of a better term here ) faces look like a cross between Shelden Williams, LeBron James and Robert Horry.

Any tips here or tweaks in terms of making a created player have the same model/face as a player already in the game?

TIA,

It's pretty much impossible to get a created player to look as good a player with a real cyberface. You can however alter their appearance (for the most part) by changing aspects such as the jaw width and position, chin width/position, cheek size/style etc. There's room for improvement obviously but with a bit of patience you can usually sculpt a decent looking version of yourself or a missing player.

Yeah,

It's a lot of tweaking that looks near moot utilizing the in-game mutable facial attributes compared to the awesome face patches that people have worked hard on.

I'm just not sure where EA is going with the mongoloidal by default starting points for faces. I seem to recall a few revisions back where they had a ton of faces to choose from and the hair looked decent ( minus the long blonde or mullet hair lol ).

The hair is really bad at least in terms of how they render it on-screen when you're editing. I never thought it would be possible for them to really do poorly on a few staple hairstyles, but they seem to have managed it.

I was hoping there would be a fairly painless way to copy a cyberface to a created player. That way if I make myself, I can just copy over a basic white duder cyberface and not have to end up looking like Eduardo Najera =P

It's certainly easy enough to assign a cyberface to a created player, if that's what you mean.

Aye,

That's what I was shooting for, no pun intended. =P
