I hate it when my jokes go unnoticed :x

Sat Feb 04, 2006 2:24 am

What joke?

I'd like to see Hostel too. I'm all into scary movies. There's way too many shit horror movies, but the past couple years saw quite an effort to make a few decent ones.

My GF is all into the scary movies. Unfortunately for me it was her turn to pick the movie so we watched "the Skeleton Key" which was nothing like the trailers were suggesting it was- a horror movie

The conclusion was somewhat clever. I want to see it again just to see if everything was consistent as the ending but i'm pessimistic

on a side note- Kate Hudson looked like shit compared to how she looked in Almost famous

I just saw The Constant Gardener last night. I thought it was a good movie, but like Hotel Rwanda, I can't watch it twice because it's basically a mystery movie infused with political complications I can't watch a movie where the mystery was already solved in the end. It's a good watch, though.

Skeleton Key was alright, it sure did catch me off guard, it was "different" from other "horror" movies.

after seeing the trailer 4 Scary Movie 4, it's jumped to the top of my list (Y)

Yea, I watched both and found them entertaining. I would surely recommend them to anyone.

I'll probably go watch that myself although the movie topping my list to go watch is The Da Vinci Code.

I watched Saw 2 the other day, I liked it. Bit too polished for me compared to the first one but still a good effort.

Wed Feb 08, 2006 5:11 am

Yeah, the 2nd one was milder. The deaths were so so.

Although the club to the head, very nice.

I rewatched The Negotiator today, as ugly as Samuel L. Jackson is, that dudes got some good skills.

Another good movie if you haven't seen it btw. Get's your blood pumping.

Other (similiar) movies I'm looking to add to the collection (besides The Negotiator) are Mad City (wow) and John Q.

I started watching King of New York (Christopher Walken, Lawrence Fishburne, David Caruso & Wesley Snipes), I'm an hour into it and it's fairly alright upto now. Sometimes it drags, but it's pretty fun none the less.

The Negotiator, iirc, was one of the few action movies I enjoyed (y) That one was with Kevin Spacey, right? Another Spacey movie (other than American Beauty) where Kevin was awesome in was Se7en.

I'll be watching Wedding Crashers tonight. Got a lot of mixed reviews with this one, so it should be interesting to see whether it lives up to my sense of humor.

Wed Feb 08, 2006 4:28 pm

Yeps, that's the one with Spacey, he's the one Jackson has brought in to extend his living time.

Se7en was awesome, the ending was so awesome, I never saw it coming. When he turned himself in I was like, this can't be the guy.

Let me know how Wedding Crashers is, I'm still reluctant to get it. Wilson's nose annoys me.

The Wog Boy is a good movie

Its the only move i've seen in the past month, i was watching tennis and lately TV shows like Prison Break and Desperate Housewives

Wed Feb 08, 2006 5:07 pm

IMO Wedding Crashers is definitely a movie you should see in the theaters if it's your first time seeing it. I think most comedies generally should be seen at the theater house because the laughter/reactions of the crowd adds an "energy" to the movie

I went & saw 'Walking the Line' with my gf last Saturday....quite a good movie....if you like bio-pics like I do then you would like this one....

still got that 'Rings of Fire' song buzzing in my head 8-)

I watched Pride&Prejudice (a good date movie, if a girl you're on a date with is at least semi-intelligent), Saw (I can't get rid of a feeling that this could be a much better movie with a deeper, more original screenplay) and Lord of War (director was obviously watching Fight Club a lot, but still a very underrated film). I also watched The Village a couple of days ago which I would also put on my 'Most Underrated' list. People tend to look at this movie as it is another M. Night Shyalaman thriller, but it's more of a drama/love story and if you watch it like that, it makes your experience a whole lot better. And yes, I'm a movie freak, and yes, I finished my exams and I have too much time on my hands.

Prison Break is on it's break, isn't it? It begins on March 6th again, if I'm not mistaken. Are you watching reruns?

Whoops, it's been gone from theatres a long time over here, then again it wouldn't matter because:

I think most comedies generally should be seen at the theater house because the laughter/reactions of the crowd adds an "energy" to the movie

Dutch people don't really laugh, most of the time the humor of the comedy flicks are lost in the translation (to dutch) and that's all they read, (I think that's a reason why movies are late over here, they have to subtitle ALL the movies, atleast they don't dub them, well they do with Harry Potter) anyways, as I said, the humor is lost in the translation & it's usually quiet in the theatres, sometimes when me & my english speaking friends do burst out laughing, people just go he he he. So yeah, that doesn't do much good either.

I saw 40 Year Old Virgin in theatres & whenever something witty was said, no one laughed. When he fumbled or did something stupid that could be seen and didn't need to process what was being said, they laughed.

I didn't like The Village too much, after Unbreakable & The Sixth Sense, I had high expectations from it. (Let's just ignore Signs.) Besides, if they wanted it to be a drama/love story, they shouldn't have made the promos in such a way that it came off as another thriller.

I agree with you. The advertisments really ruined the movie for the most viewers/critics and that is why I think The Village will get its proper respect five or ten years from now, when people starts watching it as a movie it is not as a movie everyone thought it will be. And Shyalaman kicks ass as a director, but I think he should get another guy to help him write the scripts. Imagine a Kaufman/Shyalaman writing tandem .

No wonder, if it's your first time watching it, you'll dig it as much as I did I hope. :)

What I like about Shyamalan is that he puts himself in a miniscule role in his movies just like Alfred Hitchcock used to do, it's always something to look forward to. Did you see him in The Village? A lot of people missed him.

Wed Feb 08, 2006 8:57 pm

I agree with air gordon here, I "got" Wedding Crashers and it's not really as funny watching it at home on TV. The audience reaction adds to things alot, and also the fact that it's on such a big screen with the great sound everywhere it adds to the atmosphere. It seemed a bit corny when I watched it again the other day.

Wed Feb 08, 2006 9:00 pm

See, now I'm confused whether I should, or shouldn't watch it. :cuss:

Wed Feb 08, 2006 9:09 pm

Oh you should watch it, but watch it with people you might think would find it funny. He who laughs alone is generally a tool.

You mean the guard reading the newspaper?

This is my favourite movie of his, with Unbreakable being the close second. I just love the idea of a drama about superheroes. And Bruce Willis/Saumel L. Jackson combo kicks ass.

Wed Feb 08, 2006 9:26 pm

Yeps, amazing how subtley he put himself in it, never even saw him in person, just his reflection. Awesome. (Y)
