If anyone wants to give them a try, the link is to one of their songs.

Same here.
Loved them since the very first album, and was lucky enough to see them live. Absolutely incredible band.

Yeah, I really want to Muse live, I've heard they're one of the best bands out there when it comes to live performances and judging by some of the videos on Youtube I don't think my assumptions are wrong.

True, they're amazing live. I've seen a gazillion shows but these guys play on another level, they're just insanely talented. :headbang:

I know it's late news, but just found out Rage is to play 3 more times after Coachella :headbang:
...and the original members of Wu-Tang are to release an album!
It turns out Rage Against the Machine will play more than one show after all--the seminal L.A. band will join the Wu-Tang Clan for three shows under the banner of Rock the Bells, the acclaimed hip-hop festival that kicks off in New York on July 28 and hits Southern California on Aug. 11.

That local show will be at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino while the third show, on Aug. 18, will be in San Francisco. The sites of the New York and San Francisco shows as well as ticket sales information will be announced by organizers on Monday.

Rage is already the closing-night headliner of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 29 in Indio, a festival that sold out 80 days in advance due to the pent-up fan demand for the Los Angeles band. Rage played their last show in 2000.

That Coachella show was announced as a "one-and-done" affair but the quick sellout and the harsh-priced ticket scalping already underway are among the factors in the added shows, according to sources close to the band. There's also the historical punch of performing with Wu-Tang Clan, one of the most ambitious and influential hip-hop outfits ever.

"Rage will do four shows and just four in 2007," said Chang Weisberg, the founder of Guerilla Union and organizer of Rock the Bells. "Coachella is first, that's the granddaddy. And now these three with the Wu-Tang Clan represent a very, very special thing."

The New York hip-hop collective has already announced the planned summer release of "8 Diagrams," the Clan's first album since "Iron Flag" in 2001. The album will feature new contributions from eight of the nine members from its classic line-up: RZA, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Raekwon, GZA, Inspectah Deck, U-God and Masta Killa. The ninth member, the late ODB, who died in 2005, will appear in the form of previously recorded material.

Muse are great news. (Y) Have you heard much of their older stuff? If not, download a song called "New Born". That's probably my favourite song by them. That riff is just epic.

I've seen them live a couple of times. I don't really see why they're labelled as such a good live band. I mean, they were great. I liked it, because i like their music. But they didn't interact with the crowd at all. They just got up there and played their songs.

Though, to their credit, Matt has a lot of stage presence and energy, so it wasn't shit.

I don't think that a band necessarily needs to interact with the crowd to make their performance more memorable. Since you've seen them, you probably know the type of feeling you get when they start playing classics like "muscle museum", "plug in baby" or "bliss". That's what makes them epic live.
And yeah, Matthew's ability to switch effortlessly from guitar to piano helps as well...

That song is definitely one of my favourites, but my favourite song on my favourite album Origins of Symmetry would probably be Plug in Baby (for the awesome intro riff) or Hyper Music (for its RATM-esque sound).

"III Temples of Boom" is their best one IMO, good stuff to get high on.

Just listen to the songs in their Black Sunday album to know about 32 uses for marijuana. Weedtastic.

EDIT: Thanks to Drama for the reminder. That album is so old, I had it on cassette.

I listened to the Muse songs suggested in this thread.
The composition is excellent, just amazing and it blew my mind, but with the vocals I just felt meh.
The vocals sounds Bono (U2) or whiny-like to an extent, imo.
Still a great band though I just don't like the vocals.

Cable, can you recommend some good Rush songs?

I'm looking to expand my musical taste.

I'm not the biggest Rush fan in the world, but I did hear an interview on the radio they had with Alice Cooper :headbang: and then they played a few songs and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

BTW if you are from Canada is it the law to like Rush?

I can see why you'd hate the vocals, normally it's a love/hate thing when it comes to that from people (I happen to think his high range is pretty impressive and unique compared to 90% of the bands that are cosnidered "main-stream"). I've heard more comparisons to Thom Yorke than Bono but I can also hear the similarities.

I haven't listened to anything past Test for Echo for Rush since they've been around since the stoneage, but if you're looking for some awesome drumming check out "One Little Victory" off the Vapour Trails album. I think if you enjoyed some of Muse's stuff you might like Rush because people have said that they have that "prog rock" sound (whatever the hell that means).

By the way, if you manage to like Rush I'd also recommend Tool (lengthy compositions) and Coheed Cambria (if you like more of the high-pitched wailly kind of vocals that Geddy has).

BTW if you are from Canada is it the law to like Rush?

Yes. If you don't your penis gets chopped off so painfully that you'll reach a high-pitched wail like Geddy Lee.

Progressive rock, and I like it.

Whoa, Rush is that old! The oldest progressive rock band I know is Alan Parsons Project. Better start 'browsing' for Rush songs.
