If you want some good albums that were released in 2004 go and pick up

Royce Da 5'9 - Death Is Certain
Masta Ace - A Long Hot Summer
Masta Killa - No Said Date

Mon Feb 14, 2005 6:44 am

Royce is nice. Never heard of the other two. East Coast rappers?

Mon Feb 14, 2005 6:51 am

Nop Masta Ace is a veteran of the rap game, been in it since 1988 and has released 5 albums. He is probably in my top 5 of all time.

Masta Killa is a member of the Wu-Tang Clan and this is his first solo album

You seem to know your Rap pretty well Sir SkipToMy_Lou!!
I don't know shit about it myself but I've heard some songs and I would like you to recomend some to me.
The only album I have is The Score by the Fugees and I love every song in it (my favs are "Ready or Not" and of course "Fu-gee-la"...)
I've also heard 2Pac's "Hit em up" (it's amazing) and some other stuff I don't remember.
Well, what have you to suggest?? :)

I never got into the Wu. The only song that ever caught my ear was that ODB "Baby I Got Your Money" and another song by Ghostface Killer that I can't think of the name of. It's got a video with a whole bunch of drunk people knocked out all over the place, and he's wearing the WCW championship belt. Maybe you know what I'm talking about? But I don't have nothing against them. I'm sure they've made alot of raw cuts considering their longevity, but being a down south cat I never had too many opportunities to get my hands on one, or the drive to spend my own money on 'em.

Master Ace still ain't ringing no bells, and you say he's been in the game? But he's got to be from the East Coast because that's the only place that my knowledge of rappers is choppy at.

Can you tell me your favorite songs??? Hopefully something like the ones I mentioned earlier.... :)

Yes Courtney Love was his wife.

Apparently she killed him because he was having an affair with the bass player from her band. Who was also found dead a couple of months later. :?

I suggest if you really like The Fugees to get their second album Blunted On Reality, also a rappar named K-OS who is just a flawless artist he has albums called Exit and Joyful Rebellion (which was released last year)

Oh and by the way Masta Ace is a Eastcoast rapper hes reppin Brooklyn.

Heres a short bio on him:

With an impressive resume in rap that includes membership in the legendary Juice Crew (along with Marley Marl, MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, and Craig G) and a verse on the 1988 classic posse cut "The Symphony," Brooklyn's Masta Ace is truly an underappreciated rap veteran and underground luminary. Two years after "The Symphony," Ace released his debut album Take a Look Around on rap's version of the Motown label, Cold Chillin' Records. While not a huge commercial success the album spawned a hit single and video for "Me and the Biz" which popped up on many popular rap video shows in the late '90s for nostalgia's sake. The album has Marley Marl's keen production aura all over it and also features a guest appearance from the Biz himself. After three years on the hush, Ace returned to the fold in 1993 this time with his crew as Masta Ace Incorporated (Lord Digga and Paula Perry) and dropped Slaughtahouse. The album broke new ground by taking the synthesized West Coast Sound and filtering it through an East Coast mentality. The memorable "Born to Roll," with its tweaked Moog/Kraftwerk bass line, brought Ace some serious commercial attention. In 2000, De La Soul used this classic beat on a remix of "All Good" featuring Chaka Khan. The album also produced a few hits for undergrounders including "Jeep Ass Niguhz" and "Style Wars." The album is highly notable for its cross-coast compatibility. In 1995 Masta Ace Incorporated dropped Sittin' on Chrome, a continuation of the themes on Slaughtahouse and owning an even slicker sound. Using the Isley Brothers' much-sampled "For the Love of You" for the track "I.N.C. Ride" may have offended some of Ace's loyal fans but the song's catchy vibe made it a hit. Sittin' on Chrome is another album chock full of Jeep beats that doesn't relinquish its standing with underground tastes. "B Side" and "4 the Mind" featuring the Cella Dwellas are also crucial jams. Ace has been known to release sleeper singles that cannot be found on his albums; one of the rarest, 1996's "Ya Hardcore," is a bumping indictment of studio gangsters and thug rap neophytes. The talented survivor in the rap game released a variety of singles in 2000 including "Hellbound," a duet with Eminem, giving him over twelve years of experience in the rap biz. ~ Michael Di Bella, All Music Guide

K-OS is reppin for Canada!!! :D

Skip speaks the truth, K-OS is absolutley amazing. He blends all kinds of different music into his own. He sings he raps and he produces. Like Wyclef from The Fugees except better.

If you want individual songs, then off the top of my head I'd say...

Emcee Murdah
Man I Used To Be
The Love Song
Crabibucket

Mon Feb 14, 2005 5:17 pm

Can't forget Superstar Pt. 0, or Heaven Only Knows.

Yep both great songs.

What about Del Tha Funky Homosapien?!

Was on a few tracks with Gorillaz and is in the rap group "Hieroglyphics".

The man goes under a few names Del Tha Funky Homosapien, DELTRON 3030, etc.

He is Ice Cube's cousin and an Oakland, CA Native! (YEAAAHHHH BOYYYY!!!)

Mon Feb 14, 2005 6:18 pm

I'm feelin Deltron, only heard a couple songs from him. But his songs are very unique and have a nice feel to them.

If anyone has got any of his albums, then maybe we could work something out. If you know what I mean

Mon Feb 14, 2005 6:23 pm

Jona, I suggest you start on the more well known artists first and then move to the lesser known.

Here is a variety of different styles that I like

2Pac- I Aint Mad At Cha (my all time fav, has piano background which is rare)

Jay Z ft UGK- Big Pimpin (the beat is classic here)

Bone Thugs N Harmony- Thuggish Ruggish Bone (classic gangsta stuff from Bone, I think most people like their stuff because their beats are harmonic as opposed to bass heavy)

Xzibit- Paparazzi (I think you'll like the production on this one, it's got flutes & violins that make it a great listen)

Devin The Dude ft Xzibit & Nas- Some of em (this song comines the south, west & east and not to mention some great rappers.)

Let me know how it goes

I think that People's Instinctive Travels And the Paths of Rhythm is their best album but Low End Theory is awesome as well
