Discussion about NBA Live 2003.

Just my opinion...

He all,
I'm new to the forums but have been to NLSC since a couple months before the release of NBA Live 2001.

To me NBA Live is the greatest game I own. I look forward to it year after year as the one game I HAVE to have. If I only buy one game a year (and I do), it's NBA LIve. I've been playing it ever since it first came out for the Super Nintendo and I used to play with my boys and my 4 way adapter. THat was back in about 94 or 95 if not earlier.

But those were the good old days...

What the hell has happened to NBA Live since?!?

After playing this years version it is officially off my MUST Have list.

Sice Live 2000, this series has gone down hlll. I think Live 2000 was the peak of the Live series and is possibly my favorite game of all time.

So going back to 2000 waiting for 2001 to come out I anticipated bigger and better things in the 2001 version but was very disappointed. It wasn't a bad game or anything but It didn't even compare to 2000.
Not only that but Live usually gets released in November so I eagerly anticipated its' release and than had to deal with the release date being pushed back about 4 or 5 times before finally getting it in February (what's that ...4 months late). I had the playstaion version in October of that year.

A couple of months (if not sooner) after the release of 2001 I was on this website and read in the news about how there wasn't going to be a 2002 for the PC. But the bright spot was the the next version was going to be more for PC users.

Well almost 2 years later I finally have my next version of the game and it's anything but geared towards PC users. This game is more of a console game than when it came out for the Super Nintendo.

It's nothing but faced pace basketball where both teams shoot 80% and all you do is dunk. Not only that it's incredibly choppy (I have a P4 2.53 gig, 512meg of ram, SB Audigy Platium EX, Radion 9700 Pro) and I can't play the game anywhere near maximum settings.

To me it looks like I'm gettng about 15 frame rates per second...if that.
And with my system I can max out every game I"ve come across so far....I maxed out No one lives for ever 2 and the game told me I could still set the settings higher with my system.

Maybe I'm just being harsh (I've only had the game a day) but last night I was waiting fot the game so bad, I installed Live 2000 and played some games. The graphics sucked but I had some great games and had alot of fun. Now I installed 2003 and could only play about 2 quaters because the game sucked so bad.

I'm so dissapointed I just had to let off a little steam.
Sorry you had to hear this.
This is the last version of NBA LIve that I buy. Unless they come out with something amazing to make up for the shit they put out for PC users in the last 3 years, I am no longer an NBA Live fan.

Peace

I thought the same thing after a game or two, but now, with the sim vs arcade fiasco figured out, I really like the game. I wish there were more "NEW" options like Madden but I am enjoying the game for sure. As of now I am 1-4 (allstar) in my franchise but I am still learning how to play this version. I don't like the excessive dunking thing either but I'm confident there will be a fix! I have had some real exciting games that have gone down to the wire! So give it a few games and I'm sure that you will start to like it better.

BTW have you read the posts about the arcade vs simulation mode swap? It might help you get a more realistic pace.

Also, I have a AMD 1 Ghz 512 SDram and GFORCE 2 MX 64 and it runs smooth on 16x24 and settings high. I would look for a newer driver for your graphics card cause you should be running live "liquid" smooth.

Peace

I just updated my driver for my radeon 9700. I coulnd't even get 2003 to work until I did. I would freeze up abuot 3 seconds after loading. So I got all the latest drivers and am now able to play
But the game is so incredibly choppy it's unbelievable.
Even on the lowest possible settings it's choppy

I've decided to play it just cause I've missed playin it in the last 2 years but I can't really get into it. The pace of the game is way to fast, steals are way to easy and blocks...I won't even comment on that.

In 2000 and 2001 my created player would average about 40pts, 15reb, 10blks, 10stls, and 20assists per game.
So far over 5 games this year I'm averaging 102pts, 2 assists, 3 stls 3 reb, and 1 block.

My defense sucks because I can't get back on D. When I do get back the sceen is so choppy and the players are so fast I can't touch them.
And on offence as soon as I handle the ball and try and set up a play I get the ball stolen. If I try and shoot anything otehr than a dunk it's useless becaue I get blocked 9 out of 10 times.

Andn I'm about 0 for 20 at the free throw line because again the display is so choppy there is no way I can hit the target on my shots.

I'm just so majorly disappointed with this game... They made me wait 2 years before putting out a PC Live and than when it finally does come out it's a load of crap.

I'm going to consider the updates to this game toilet paper because they are going to be wiping up shit!!!!

Peace

maybe your 9700 Pro is too powerful :lol:

I'm using 8500 and it's good enough for MAX details
Try turn off the triple buffer and V-Sync

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the gameplay problem
1) Download the tweaked roster patch
2) Use aracde mode instead of simulation mode, just turn on all the rules and fatigue
3) In defensive strategy, turn the defensive pressure to high
4) Use the "Last Man Back" button after you miss the shot or your shot is blocked
5) Dont rush your shot and Computer will do the same
Hope these help 8)
