Need Help

Postby buzzy on Mon Jun 30, 2008 1:26 am

Alright, I'm sure some guys out there can help me.
I'm trying to update my NBA Live 2003 roster to the 08/09 season to finally start a dynasty.
Well, I already have a roster from last year, I only need to create this year's rookies.

My question is, in players.dbf, is there a way to easily add one count to every player in their YEARSEXP. field? Like the last years rookies from 0 to 1 and a 9 year veteran to 10 and so on.

So that only the class of 08 will actually be rookies.

I heard something like batch files can do that, but maybe somebody can give me more information on that.

btw: I'm using OpenOffice to edit the dbfs.

I believe you increase all values in YEARSEXP by one if you use CDBF. You'd need to go back and adjust players who didn't play last season (eg Greg Oden is technically still a rookie).

I don't get why you moved it, could be useful for every other game as well ..
Still, I can't find any command that would add 1 in CDBF

You asked a question about editing NBA Live 2003, which is why I moved it.

Does +1 work at all? I've never tried it myself, I prefer to update it by modifying the batch file I use to fix Primacy ratings. I still have to update the values for each player but I don't need to go sifting through players.dbf to do it.

My problem is that I don't know where to insert +1 so that the values will change.

Make a backup and try this:

Code: Select all
"cdbflite.exe" players.dbf /case /filter:PLAYERPKG=KOBRYAN /field:YEARSEXP=+1 /update

or maybe this:

Code: Select all
"cdbflite.exe" players.dbf /case /filter:PLAYERPKG=KOBRYAN /field:YEARSEXP+1 /update

The second looks better but as I've never tried it myself I'm just guessing here.

Does not work.
And I didn't know before you wanted me to use CDBFlite.
I downlaoded the DBF Viewer and Editor first. Any idea with that program?

Anyway, it didn't work with the flite thing

For the first one it says "Error in +1", the second one say "invalid condition ... Fields must be specified ..."

I never used that one so I don't know, sorry. As I said, I usually do it manually, streamlining things with a batch file these days.
