i dont think its possible that i have an 8mb if games that require 16 at minimum work and why would HP sell a 2002 computer with such a low memory ... i think i may have it set at 8mb for some reason .. any way to tweak this?

Im assuming your video is shared memory and there should be a way you can adjust it but it will dip into your total memory (256mb) intergrated video sucks and a lot of the computers like hp and what not have intergrated video. on my old computer i could play madden 03 with an 8mb vid card but live must not like it so just go out and buy a video card and check to see if you have an agp slot before you do so...

my computer is a HP/windows xp .. logically i wouldnt think xp and all easports 2002 games could work with 8mb video card ....

Dude, your graphic controller gotta be integrated with the chipset or an on-board video controller. That explain why you got 248MB of system memory coz the 8MB of video memory is taken from the system memory out of 256MB.

You should be able to change the video memory size to as much as 32MB through system bios, but that reduces your system memory to 224MB.

For the NHL2k2 and other games you were able to run on your system, I guess you were running the games in 640*480 16 bit? If the games are not using too many textures (size wise), it maybe able to fit in the memory frame buffer in low resolution modes.

Anyways, if you wanna play nba live 2k3 I think you should get a new video card since on board graphics are just not fast enough to play the lastest games. Except you can tolerate 15 fps in the game.
