Is it possible to do coach-only mode?

I do not currently own NBA Live 2003, but have owned some older versions. I'm kind of a strange cat in that i LIKE TO SIMPLY ASSEMBLE TEAMS IN the franchise mode and then sit back and coach them. However, in the past this, to my chagrin, has not been an option. Can anyone kindly inform me if this feature is available in 2003?

Yes it is...sort of.

When you start the game, don't select to control either team. During the game you can:

- Substitute (pause, select to control a team, then you can timeout and pause.)

- Make strategic settings, matchups and calls like crash the board etc.

You can't call plays during a game unless you're controlling a team, and that means controlling a player.

In Madden Football, you can set coach tendencies for aggressive offense/defense etc. It would be nice if NBA had a coach profile, and let you set tendencies as well as things like first, second and thrid choice on offense and rotation of offensive plays.

you can always just do things like trades and stuff, and just simulate each game instead of playing it..

Thats what I used to do... and just watch games when they are up against a good challanging team or its the all-star game etc. Was pretty fun.

oh.. and watch the finals of course.. if my team makes it

Can you do this in Live 2003? I have tried several times and I can't seem to play a game without a controller, it always shows the KEYBOARD as the controller and no matter where I drag it to it pops back to one of the teams. I've tried a new user profile. removed my sidwinder from the computer and still I always get the keyboard when I goto PLAY NOW or choose GAME MODE > EXIBITION. If I try with the keyboard my controlled player just stands there. Any help would be appreciated.
