Switching teams in Franchise Mode...

It has the option, so I set it to YES, cause I like to turn CPU Trades OFF and do them myself for the first season. But, I can't do them unless I switch to another team, now I can find it in the Franchise Mode, to switch my team. Can we only switch after the season? Then, I either just turn CPU Trades on (which are usually ridculous) or control every team, but then I have to manage their Roster Ordering...or...is there a program to use outside of the game...any ideas?
