Bye bye choppiness

Go to "program files/directx" folder (Or whatever is called, it depends on your OS language) double-click on Dxdiag , then to the "sound" tab and put the sound acceleration to "none" or "basic"; game now is smooth for me :D

Running smooth with the preset "high" for details in an Athlon 1000 + Geforce 4 Ti 4200

P.S. this should help for many other games, including GTA3, Battlefield 1942...

Comments or votes in the poll appreciated

Thanks man, you just saved my day, some money and a whole lot of time & frustration. With dxdiag tuned down to basic I can run the game with the wingman software, at any level on my w98 machine in high detail no choppiness at all. Again thanks.

I didn't even have to turn all the way down or off

I have it turned to standard acceleration with maxed out settings and now I run fine. I wish I would of found the fix before spending an additional 180 bucks though.

1.2 Ghz AMD
Win98 SE
512 Megs of DDR Ram (was at 256)
Geforce 4 MX (was at Geforce 2 MX)
Ensoniq Creative Labs Sound card (PCI)

I think I would of been able to run maxed of with original video card & original ram amount.

EA just lost a dedicated customer & gamer. This bug should of been caught before release! This the last title I buy from them. They just made me buy an console system after New Years for NFL fever 2004, NFL2k4 and etc.! Good thing they didn't win the Star Wars license.

hmmm...this trick still didn't help me...i still have the "2fps no matter what the detail settings" bug...good thing EA is "looking into the problem"
