Here's how

First thing you do is go to an empty cell somewhere either on this sheet or in a new workbook and enter the number you want to use for subtraction, addition or multiplication.

COPY that cell.

Select the range of numbers you want to modify.

Right-mouse click the selection and choose "Paste Special". Or click on Edit, Paste-Special.

In the "Operation" section, choose which mathematical operation you want to apply to the highlighted range and click OK.

I don't know how the game would handle a number that has a decimal point in it, so whenever I multiply something by a percentage, I always use the Round or Roundup function in that column afterwards to make them two digits. Remember, formatting the cells does not affect their real value.

One more thing ..

When you try to save the file, Excel is going to ask you if you want to save it in its original format or in the Excel format.

If you click YES, it leaves the file in its original format. If you click NO, it saves it in the Excel format. You want to click YES. If you save the file in the Excel file format, it will screw it up and NBA live won't be able to read it.

Even though you already hit Save once, when you try to exit Excel, it will ask you if you want to save changes. Just click NO and exit Excel. Just be sure to hit Save Before trying to exit Excel.

If you multiply the column by a percentage and need help using the ROUND founction, let me know because there are some extra steps you need to follow.

Don't use Access. Use Excel

Postby prdfy on Thu Nov 14, 2002 9:25 am

DoubleA,

Don't edit the file in Access. Use Excel instead. I've only used Excel to edit my DBF files so I don't know what will happen if it is saved in Access.[/code]

You didn't open the "players.mdb" file did you?

The file you have to edit is "Players.dbf".
