realism in Live 2003

Postby Paqmac on Fri Feb 25, 2011 10:58 pm

Hi,

i recently started playing NBA Live 2003, since my Mac won´t run the new 2K games very smoothly and i read somewhere it was a fun game..
It is, but how can i make it more realistic? I saw some old topics here were someone apparently made some files which should help, but i couldn´t find any download. Could someone tell me what i need to change, or which files i need to download?

I also read that Live 2004 is more realistic and easier to modify on that point, but where can i get Live 2004 from? ;)

thanks!

Welcome to the Forum!

We spent a lot of time back in the day trying to get more realism into the game but at the end of the day, a lot of elements favour a more arcade style of gameplay. If more realism is what you're after, I'd recommend NBA Live 2004 (or 2005 or 06 if you can run them) over 2003.

You can play NBA Live 2001 too if you want more realism.

thanks for the quick reply´s ;)

well since i´m a little bit new to basketball I´m not looking for the ultimate simulation, i like the arcade style of 2003, but just a little more realism wouldn´t hurt ;)

Andrew, what did you exactly do? If possible i want a quick way (without changing every players stats) to change at least the blocking and tempo of the game.. Is there still somewhere a roster update which has that effect? Or some other patches? I would get Live 2004 when i could get a good source ( i know you guys cant post torrents here, if you know any place where i can buy it AND download, that would be perfect (Y) )

oh and another question, i saw that therei s going to be a ´11 update, TRU11, does that patch also add more realism?

thanks for answering my questions

I'm currently updating rosters for TRU11, which should be out in a couple weeks, and I'm improving the realism (or trying to anyway)

Unfortunately, without sliders it won't be possible, but I have made some global changes to improve realism.

We used to have "tweaked" version of the rosters, with mass changes to ratings to try and tone things down. The results were mixed, if you don't like the tempo and the blocking I can really only suggest trying one of the other old PC releases. I'd try Amazon.
