Just got done with a game on starter 12 minute quarters. I adjusted alot of different ratings trying to get the game to resemble an NBA game.
Here are the stats from it
Entire Game Boston LA Lakers
Points 145 137
Bench Scoring 51 20
Field Goals 68/116 55/115
Field Goal % .586 .478
3 Point FG 6/24 10/34
3 Point % .250 .294
Free Throws 3/4 17/23
Free Throw % .750 .739
Rebounds 47 31
Off. Rebounds 8 5
Def. Rebounds 39 26
Blocks 26 12
Steals 12 14
Assists 33 39
Turnovers 32 20
Fouls 18 5
Game wasn't to bad except for the ridiculus amount of blocks. Few things playing on starter that are different from allstar and superstar.
1) Way to easy to block shots.....I may remedy this with lowering my teams blocks to like 60 max.
2) Easier to shake and score on someone without getting ball swiped.....the steals were just about perfect in this game.
3) Low number of fouls against the CPU.....instead of fouling like on allstar mode they just gave me layups.
Now for some really good news. You can pick what offense the computer will run!!!! So if you are sick of them running the dynamic sets(quick plays) you just go into the strategy menu and change the set to inside triangle(without any number so the CPU switches it up) In the game above I changed at halftime the offenses for the CPU and it was a much more enjoyable game to play....instead of Rick Fox jacking threes and Derrick Fisher burning me on pick n roll the CPU ran the triangle offense using alot of time off the clock too! You can also change the CPU matchups on defense.....which makes the game more real so they are not double teaming Bruno Sundov everytime he touches it in the post.
Some other points of interest..
1) Why doesn't NBA Live count blocks that are retrieved as offensive or defensive rebounds as they do in the NBA
2) Why do we only have 4 play select buttons???? I have to pause and change the sets around every time I sub and want to use a different set. This is exactly the reason I wonder what EA does all year in production.....do they really think about what to take out of the game version to version????
3) The jump shots are so slow!!!! There is no midrange game because the stupid jump shots take so long to get off......I yearn for the Live 2000 quicker animation.
4) Offensive Rebounding is now fun and hard!!!! It is good to not worry about that bug from the previous 2 Lives but they tweaked it a little to far.
5) The CPU AI is on crack!
6) Why does the CPU defense play so well against me on allstar but my noncontrolled players are getting beat by Rick Fox and Derrick Fisher??? What does EA do to make allstar and superstar hard??? I think it has nothing to do with ratings.
7) THere has to be a bug with Center and Power Forwards draining threes!!
This game could have been so good.......but EA just didn't deliver. For what it is worth I am thinking about going back to Live 2000........nah I couldn't do that.
Maybe I will sleep now......or edit my rosters some more....wait I have a book to read.......
