NBA Live 2005 not recognizing xbox one controller

Postby rembrant420 on Sun Dec 31, 2023 1:50 pm

Trying to run the game on windows 11 using a bluetoothed xbox one controller. I'm able to get it to recognize the B button to skip the intro, but after that nothing on the menus will work at all. When I go into the controller configuration, I am able to reassign keybindings fine, but still no navigation through the menus and nothing registering in game. Any help would be much appreciated.

Menus in NBA Live 2005 only work with a mouse. But in game your controller will probably work

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense for the menus, but in game the controller still isn't recognized for any inputs at all. Keyboard works fine but nothing is registering from the controller.

Well just figured out what my problem was. Once inside the game you have to actually change the controller configuration on the team select menu. Didn't realize that but now it works fine.

NBA Live 2005 used the old DInput protocol, while modern controllers use XInput. There are plugins/mappers that can basically convert XInput to DInput, but personally, I use a Logitech F710 that has a switch on the top that allows it to change between XInput and DInput mode so that it's compatible with older games.
